MINIMUM

QUALIFICATION

(1) Professor: Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Languages and Mass Communication.
(i) An eminent scholar with Ph.D. qualification(s) in the concerned/ allied/relevant discipline and published work of high quality actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with a minimum of ten publications as books and or research/policy papers. (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in University/college or experience in research at the University/National level institutions/industries, including experience of guiding candidates for research at doctoral level. (iii) Contribution to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology mediated teaching learning process. (iv) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API base Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS) developed by UGC in these Regulations in Appendix III..

OR
(v) An outstanding professional with established reputation in the relevant field, who has made significant contributions to the knowledge in the concerned allied/relevant discipline, to be substantiated by credentials.

(2) Associate Professor: Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Languages and Mass Communication.
(i) Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned allied/relevant disciplines. (ii) A Masters Degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) (iii) A minimum of eight years experience of teaching and or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, college or Accredited Research Institution/Industry excluding the period of Ph.D. research with evidence of published work and a minimum of 5 publications as books and or research/policy papers. (iv) Contribution to education innovation, design of new curricula and courses, and technology- mediated teaching learning process with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates and research students. (v) A minimum score as stipulated in the Academic Performance Indicator (API) based Performance Based Appraisal System (PBAS), developed by UGC in these Regulations in Appendix III..

(3) Assistant Professor: Arts, Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Languages and Mass Communication.
(i) Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Masters Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.

(iii) Holders of Ph.D. Degree as on the date of Notification of these Regulation, along with those candidates who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum

Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./PhD. Degree), Regulations, 2009, and so adopted by the University, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. (iv) NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted.

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING and TECHNOLOGY Ph.D. Degree with first class degree at Bachelors or Masters level in the appropriate branch of Engineering and/Technology and experience of 10 years in Teaching, research and or industry, out of which 5 years at the level of Assistant Professor or Reader or equivalent grade.
(1) PROFESSOR:-

OR ii. In the event the candidates is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential : 1. First Class Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Technology. 2. Significant professional work which can be recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech, and industrial / professional experience of ten years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant Professor or Reader. Provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3- Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. iii. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions maybe considered desirable : 1. Teaching, research industrial and or professional experience in a reputed organisation. 2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained, books, and / or technical reports. 3. Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R & D projects in industry. 4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research industrial and / professional Activities and 5. Capacity to undertake lead sponsored R & D, consultancy and related activities. (2) BIO - TECHNOLOGY (Engg. & Tech.) Discipline: PROFESSOR:i. Essential: 1. A Ph.D. Degree with First Class at Bachelors or Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. / Applied Biological Sciences, and experience of ten years in teaching, research and or industry, out of which at least five years at the level of Assistant Professor Reader or equivalent grade. OR ii. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential: 5

1. First Class Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. / Applied Biological Sciences. 2. Significant professional work which can be recognised as equivalent to a Ph.D. Degree in appropriate branch of Engg. & Tech. / Applied Biological Sciences, and industrial / professional experience of ten years, out of which at least five years at a senior level of Assistant Professor / Reader. Provided that the recognition for significant professional shall be valid only if the same is recommended unanimously by a 3 Member Committee of Experts appointed by the Vice Chancellor of the University. iii. Desirable: 1. Teaching, industrial research and / or professional experience in a reputed organization. 2. Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained books, and / or technical reports. 3. Experience of guiding the project work, dissertation of post graduate or research students or supervising R&D projects in industry. 4. Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and / or professional activities and 5. Capacity to undertake / lead sponsored R&D, consultancy and related activities. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR i. Essential First-class Masters Degree in the appropriate branch of Engineering * Technology ii. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: 1. Teaching, research industrial and / or professional experience in a reputed organization. 2. Papers presented at conference s and in referred journals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHING FACULTY IN MANAGEMENT PROFESSOR: i. Consistently good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business Management/Administration/ in a relevant discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55 % marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed) in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC. OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and works Account / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body. ii. Ph.D. or Fellow of Indian Institute of Management or of an Institute recognized by AICTE and declared equivalent by the AIU. iii. A minimum of ten years of experience of teaching / industry / research / professional out of which five years must be at the level of Reader or equivalent excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree. 6

OR iv. In the event the candidate is from industry and the profession, the following shall constitute as essential : 1. Consistently good academic record with at leat 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed) in Masters Degree in Business Management/Administration/ in a relevant management related discipline or consistently good academic record with at least 55 % marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale where ever grading system is followed) in two year full time PGDM declared equivalent by AIU / recognized by the AICTE / UGC. OR First Class graduate and professionally qualified Chartered Accountant / Cost and works Account / Company Secretary of the concerned statutory body.

The candidate should have professional work experience which is significant and can be recognized at national / International level as equivalent to Ph.D. and twelve years managerial experience in industry / profession of which at least eight years should be at least at a level comparable to that of Reader/Assistant Professor. V. Without prejudice to the above, the following conditions may be considered desirable: i) Teaching, research and / or professional experience in a reputed organization. ii) Published work, such as research papers, patents filed / obtained books and / or technical reports. iii) Experience of guiding the project work / dissertation of PG / Research Students or supervising R&D projects in industry. iv) Demonstrated leadership in planning and organizing academic, research, industrial and / or professional activities and v) Capacity to undertake / lead sponsored R&D consultancy and related activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT OF TEACHING FACULTY IN TEACHERS EDUCATION (M.Ed COURSE). I. PROFESSOR a. A Masters Degree in Humanities (Education) and M.Ed. each with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). OR M.A (Education) with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and B.Ed. each with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). b. Ph.D. in Education, and

c. At least ten years of teaching experience in University department of education or College of Education of which a minimum of five years at the M.Ed. level with published work in the area of his specialization.

II. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR a. A Masters Degree in Humanities (Education) and M.Ed. each with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). OR M.A (Education) and B.Ed. each with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed), and b. Any other stipulation prescribed by the UGC/such other affiliating body/ State Government, from time to time for the positions of Principal and lecturers, shall be mandatory. 3. Minimum educational qualifications and experience (Essential and Desirable) for the departments of Agriculture shall be applicable as per the existing UGC 2010/ICAR Guidelines. PERCENTAGE EQUIVALENCE OF GRADE POINTS FOR A SEVEN POINTS SCALE : It is hereby clarified that where the University/College/Institution declare results in grade points which is on a scale of seven, the following mechanism shall be referred to ascertain equivalent marks in percentage: Grade O - Outstanding A- Very Good B-Good C - Average D Below Average E - Poor F - Fail Grade Point 5.50-6.00 4.50-5.49 3.50-4.49 2.50-3.49 1.50-2.49 0.50-1.49 0-0.49 Percentage Equivalent 75-100 65-74 55-64 45-54 35-44 25-34 0-24

It may be noted that the UGC amendments made in the year 2012 and 2013 shall also be applicable. GENERAL INFORMATION/INSTRUCTION TO THE CANDIDATES
1. Application fee (excluding bank charges) of Rs.500/- (General Category) and Rs.250 (SC/ST/OBC) must

be deposited in Nagaland University Account No.30351467507 payable at S.B.I. Lumami Branch (Code No-13380). Counterfoil issued by the Bank shall be attached to the application as proof of deposit. No other mode of payment is acceptable. Application fees once paid shall
not be refunded under any circumstances. However, the candidates from DA category are exempted from payment of application fee. 2. Spiral binding and sending of loose application may be strictly avoided. The University shall not therefore accept the responsibility for any loss of documents.

3. Detail Bio-data including Mark Sheet from Matriculation onwards in support of their academic

qualifications, teaching and research experience, E-mail ID, Telephone No, Fax No, attested copies of relevant documents, Schedule Cast / Schedule Tribe / OBC/DA Certificates & three recent passport photograph may be sent in the prescribed proforma to the Recruitment Cell (Establishment SectionII), Nagaland University, Headquarters: Lumami, P.O: Lumami, Pin-798627 District: Zunheboto, Nagaland SUPERSCRIBING Application for the post of (Last date of receipt of applications is 31st March2014)
4. Original documents should not be sent along with the application but these must be produced at the time of interview. 5. No correspondence will be entertained for the candidates regarding conduct of interview and result of the interview. 6. The University will not be responsible for non-receipt/late receipt of any communication due to postal delay/Lost in Transit or non receipt of application send by the candidates. 7. No interim correspondence shall be entertained & canvassing in any form will be a disqualification. 8. Separate applications for each post is required to be submitted and the post applied should be mentioned on the top of the envelope. 9. A self addressed and unstamped envelope must be accompanied with the application form. 10. Persons who are already working in the University/State Central Government or any other organization should send their applications through proper channel. Any delay in sending the applications through proper channel is not the responsibility of the University. However, advance copy may be submitted. In such cases NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE from the employer must be produced at the time of interview. 11. The University shall have the right to restrict the number candidates for interview on the basis of qualifications and experience who posses higher than the minimum prescribed or by any other condition that may deem fit. 12. The University, after considering the applicants for the post applied for may, if it is of the opinion that he/she will be suitable choice for the next lower post, may make such offer. 13. Application after the last date, incomplete in any respect and any fresh papers/enclosures after closing the date, shall not be considered. 14. University shall verify the antecedents or documents submitted by candidates at any time at the time of appointment or during the tenure of the service. In case, it is detected that the documents submitted by the candidates are fake or the candidates has a clandestine antecedents/background and has suppressed the said information, then his/her service shall be terminated.

15. In case of any inadvertent mistake in the process of selection which may be detected at any stage even after the issue of appointment letter, the University reserves the right to modify/ withdraw/cancel any appointment made to the candidates.
16. In case of any dispute/ambiguity that may occur in the process of Selection, the decision of the University shall be final. 17. The minimum requirement of 55% marks shall not be insisted upon for Professors and Associate Professors for the existing incumbents who are already in the University system. However, these marks should be insisted upon for those entering the system from outside & those at the entry point of Assistant Professors.

18. Relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50% will be provided at the Masters Degree level in the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates & 5% relaxation at Graduate Level to the physically handicapped candidates. 19. Candidates claiming relaxation under reservation should submit certificate of proof and should clearly indicate in their application as Reserved Category. 20. If any candidate is recommended for appointment by relaxing any of the prescribed conditions relating to age, experience etc, shall be so stated and recorded. 21. Short listed candidates will be called for an interview. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates to attend the interview.

22. Number of posts advertised may be treated as tentative. The University reserves the right to increase/ decrease the number of posts.
23. The Selection Committee may decide its own method of evaluating the performance of the candidates in interview. 24. The rules of UGC/Govt. of India in regard to Pay and Allowances, Leave, Pension & Provident Fund shall be followed subject to amendments if any, from time to time. New entrants shall be covered by New Pension Scheme. 25. Applications received late or without necessary supporting documents, Degree/ Certificate/

Mark sheets and experience certificate not attested by the Head of the Deptt./Institution/Gazetted Officer or not accompanied by full prescribed fee and deposit counter foil shall be rejected summarily.
26. Allowances shall be provided as applicable for North East Region as per the Govt. of India Policy. 27. Due to dearth of quarters, the Institute is not in a position to provide Quarters to all selected candidates. If quarters are not provided the staff will be entitled to HRA as per prescribed rules.

29. The University reserves the right to fill up and not to fill up any post and also to alter the number of vacancies if the circumstances so warranted. Appraisal System (PBAS) developed by UGC in these
