1) Plan the Project– Project Planning consists of a set of tasks to outline the scope of the project, determine resources needed, tasks to be completed and approve the project plan.

2) Components Designed and Specified- for determining requirements of our motor, controller, electrical components, mechanical components, wiring diagrams and safety precautions. Also consists of timeframe to obtain our ordered parts.

3) Requirements Determined- To outline functionality of the propulsion system and drivetrain components so they satisfy customer requirements.

4) Propulsion Requirements Determined- Outline of motor and controller behavior to meet customer torque and speed requirements.

5) Drivetrain Requirements Determined- Outline of clutch and gear reduction behavior to meet durability and environmental requirements.

6) Parts Specified- Specification of all necessary parts to complete Phase 1. Includes determining the location of any parts that need to be ordered.

7) Electrical Components Designed- Design all of the electrical systems that are required to complete Phase 1, including wiring systems and safety features. Excludes the motor and controller, which has been specified previously.

8) Wiring Designed - Diagrams of the low-voltage and high-voltage systems are documented through Microsoft Visio.

9) Safety Systems Designed- Designing multiple emergency cut-off systems.

10) Mechanical Components Designed- Design all of the mechanical systems that are required to complete Phase 1, including drivetrain modifications, reinforcement to the chassis and mounting considerations to implement the electrical drivetrain.

11) Parts Obtained- The group will be ordering parts from different manufacturers; it is important to set timeframe to receive these products as well.

12) Parts Ordered- All parts that require ordering have been paid for and are pending arrival.

13) Parts Delivered- All parts that require ordering have been received by the group.

14) Prep Work Completed- Due to our partnership with MATC, it is important for us to contact them about the delivery of our vehicle and facilitate modifications to the vehicle before drivetrain installation.

15) Vehicle Moved to Work Facility- Obtain keys to LIMO from DPS and drive to MATC facility.

16) Vehicle Stripped of Non-Essential Components- Consists of MATC removing unnecessary components from eLIMO.

17) Electric Propulsion System Implemented- Consists of installing and implementing motor, controller and transmission into vehicle. Also, includes the installation of high and low voltage wiring systems.

18) Motor and Transmission Installed into Vehicle- The motor is placed within the vehicle and mounted. Wiring from the motor is run and sheathed to the controller mounting location.

19) Motor Controller Implemented- All code and controls necessary to run the motor controller are determined and functioning properly.

20) Prepare Vehicle to Install Motor Controller- ensuring there is proper space for motor controller and that it can be weather-protected.

21) Motor Controller Installed into Vehicle- Tasks associated with mounting controller into engine bay.

22) Controller Interface Implemented- Safety features like killswitches are installed, shifter and pedal interfaces are manufactured and implemented, and human interface devices including the speedometer and power meter are implemented.

23) Motor Controller Configured- Software that connect the vehicle to the controller, and the diagnostic laptop to the controller is configured to meet customer range, speed and torque requirements.

24) High Voltage Wiring Installed- High voltage cable is run from the controller to the battery mounting location. The wire is properly protected and fused from ground faults as outlined by Neighborhood Electric Vehicle specifications and slack is left for Phase 3 battery installation

25) Low Voltage Wiring Installed- 12V wiring from the DC-DC converter is routed to the controller and properly protected against ground faults as outlined by the Neighborhood Electric Vehicle documentation.

26) Testing (Experimental Validation) Created- Quantitatively identify the vehicle’s torque, top speed, acceleration and deceleration.

27) Speed Test Designed- Collection of documents that that outline three important tests related to the top speed of the vehicle, its acceleration, and its deceleration.

28) Documentation Created- All key deliverables and documents that provide reference to design decisions, technical specifications, and information key to smooth transition between Senior Design teams

29) Key Deliverables Created- Key documents to be turned in for course credit as outlined by the Senior Design Spring 2008 syllabus.

30) Project Closed Out- Gather all work into final document to be handed in and presented on May 2, 2008. Final review outlines what work remains and provides information for the transitional team for the 2008-2009 team.
