What is the Sunnah

It is the smooth path, and in our context it means:

The speech and the actions of Muhammad S.A.W.
They go hand in hand, and we cannot take one and leave the other.
Example of Quran and Sunnah together

-
Learn the correct ahadeeth, learn the Sunnah.
Stop the fabrications, do not forward rare ahadeeth without verifying them. As
there is a stern warning from the Prophet himself..

"While we were one day sitting with the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi
wasallam, there appeared before us a man dressed in extremely white clothes
and with very black hair. No traces of journeying were visible on him, and
none of us knew him. The Sahabah got to know this from his clean dressing
and different looks.
He sat down close by the Prophet, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, rested his knee
against his thighs. This shows the humble position the person sat down in

and said, O Muhammad! Inform me about Islam."

Said the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, "Islam is that you
should testify that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is His
Messenger, that you should perform salah(ritual prayer), pay the zakah, fast
during Ramadan, and perform Hajj (pilgrimage) to the House (the Ka'bah at
Makkah), if you can find a way to it (or find the means for making the journey
to it)."
Said he (the man), "You have spoken truly."
We were astonished at his thus questioning him and telling him that he was
right,
but he went on to say, "Inform me about iman (faith)." He (the Messenger of
Allah) answered, "It is that you believe in Allah and His angels and His Books
and His Messengers and in the Last Day, and in fate (qadar), both in its good
and in its evil aspects."
He said, "You have spoken truly."
Then he (the man) said, "Inform me about Ihsan."
He (the Messenger of Allah) answered, " It is that you should serve Allah as
though you could see Him, for though you cannot see Him yet He sees you."
He said, "Inform me about the Hour."
He (the Messenger of Allah) said, "About that the one questioned knows no
more than the questioner." So he said, "Well, inform me about the signs
thereof (i.e. of its coming)." Said he, "They are that the slave-girl will give birth
to her mistress, that you will see the barefooted ones, the naked, the destitute,
the herdsmen of the sheep (competing with each other) in raising lofty
buildings."
Thereupon the man went off. I waited a while, and then he (the Messenger of
Allah) said, "O 'Umar, do you know who that questioner was?" I replied, "Allah

and His Messenger know better." He said, "That was Jibril. He came to teach
you your religion." [Muslim]

Jibreel came down in this manner and asked the questions to teach us
the proper way of seeking knowledge,
and the way to sit with the scholars, and to learn.
Islaam is bearing witness through the tongue, having faith in the heart,
and displaying it through actions
Emaan is the belief in the unseen, of Allaah and His angels and His
books and His Messengers and heaven and hell and the decree.
Ihsaan is the level of excellence in ones life. That a Persons whole life is
a form of worship.
Signs of Qiyamah are also mentioned in this hadeeth, so that we may
prepare, and always remember that this life is fleeting and shall soon
end.
Just like the signal that turns red will no doubt soon turn green.
Umars answer that Allaah and His Messenger know best show his
humility.
When can we use this phrase in our time?
The easiest way to learn is to listen and implement.

Sahih International

And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a

depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind."
Muhsin Khan

"But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this
Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We
shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection."

Sahih International

He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once]
seeing?"
Muhsin Khan

He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight
(before)."

Sahih International

[ Allah ] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and
thus will you this Day be forgotten."
Muhsin Khan

(Allah) will say: "Like this, Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs,
revelations, etc.) came unto you, but you disregarded them (i.e. you left them,
did not think deeply in them, and you turned away from them), and so this
Day, you will be neglected (in the Hell-fire, away from Allah's Mercy)."

The Greatest blessing on the day of judgment is not Jannah

It is the honour of Looking Allahs Face.

And thus is the punishment.
