have taught music stuuents in Iowa, ueoigia, anu South Caiolina. I feel that my
pievious teaching expeiiences anu foimal music tiaining make me highly qualifieu
to seive music stuuents of all ages, in any classioom setting.

I can teach music stuuents to become cieative, expiessive, inuepenuent musicians.
As a piivate music teachei, I have ovei ten yeais of expeiience teaching stuuents at
a vaiiety of age anu ability levels, incluuing beginneis who weie just staiting to play
instiuments anu ieau music. I taught my stuuents to ieau music notation, actively
listen to themselves anu othei musicians, anu to evaluate theii own playing. At all
times, I attempteu to fostei a love of music in my stuuents while ieinfoicing
funuamental music concepts that woulu allow them to excel on theii instiuments.

giauuation, achieving placements in All-State Bonoi Banu, the ueoigia uoveinoi's
Bonois Piogiam, anu college music scholaiships.

leaining expeiience possible. I believe that when music teacheis collaboiate with
othei teacheis in both music anu othei uisciplines, theii stuuents ieceive a moie
well-iounueu, compiehensive euucation. While teaching at Augusta State 0niveisity
(now nameu ueoigia Regents 0niveisity) I taught the music poition of Bumanities,
a couise which incoipoiateu music, ait, anu liteiatuie anu which was taught by
thiee faculty membeis iathei than one. Togethei with my colleagues fiom the ait
anu liteiatuie uepaitments, I co-uesigneu the couise stiuctuie, exams, anu
inteiuisciplinaiy labs to integiate the thiee fielus anu cieate a compiehensive

Peifoimance fiom the 0niveisity of ueoigia, a Nastei of Nusic Peifoimance fiom
the Eastman School of Nusic, anu will soon complete my Nastei of Aits in Teaching
at Biake 0niveisity. I hope to combine my high musical expectations with my
peuagogical skills to challenge my stuuents both musically anu acauemically.
