Welcome to Daves Top 7 Vocal Style Tips

What is this program?
This program is specically geared towards giving all singers a great foundation for vocal style. A terrible myth has been circulating for a long time. This myth says that only singers who are born with it can sing with great style. The truth is that all singers have a fair shot at building a voice that can sell hit records. Don!t believe me? Turn on your radio. If you listen closely you will notice a great variety of voice types. Not every voice you hear has fast runs and trills. Not every voice has great high notes. Not every voice has interesting textures. Each singer seems to have a certain set of tricks that make the vocal unique. In the real world, every singer has inherent stylistic abilities they are born with. It!s very rare to nd a voice that can perform every stylistic nuance perfectly. One of the big challenges of style is to nd out what your own voice does most naturally and then mold your artistry around your inherent skill set. No one can be you better than you. The ultimate truth is that a voice doesn!t need to be able to perform every stylistic trick in the book in order to communicate a song. However, there are more common vocal skills such as phrasing, tone qualities and melodic variations that all singers must use in order to communicate a lyric in the best way. This program seeks to break down those most common stylistic concepts and teach them to singers at all levels. Despite the popular myths, these important skills can be learned and mastered by all types of vocalists.

Whats included?
1.) PDF Product Guide 2.) 71 minute QuickTime Video 3.) 48 Audio Tracks (male & female versions)

HOW TO USE THIS PROGRAM:

The video portion contains the meat of this program. We encourage you to watch it over and over again so you can fully grasp each concept explained by Dave and Jesse. After you!ve viewed the video, start working through the audio portion. We!ve included a male and female version. The male version uses audio demonstrations of the song America the Beautiful sung by a male voice in a low key. The female version is the same except the key of the song is higher and the guide vocal is a female voice.

WHILE LISTENING TO THE AUDIO, keep these things in mind:

The audio examples are just simple demonstrations. We tried to keep them as simple as possible and we didn!t dress up the vocals with studio magic like heavy compression or tons of reverb with pitch correction.

You don!t have to copy exactly what you hear. Part of great vocal artistry is nding a unique place for your voice in a crowded industry of sound-alikes. Use these examples to help you hear things you might not have heard previously but try to adapt the techniques for your own voice. Use the exercises to nd out what your voice does naturally! It!s important to be as objective as you can about certain stylistic abilities you have naturally. Some singers don!t do licks as easy as others. However that same singer who nds it hard to sing a Brian McKnight lick might sing with an edgy tone much easier. Professional singers know exactly how to exploit the strengths in their voice. As Dolly Parton once said, Find out who you are and then do it on purpose. Great vocal style will never replace a good foundation for technique! A good singer always rides the balance between style and technique. Technique gives us the ability to sing but style gives us the ability to communicate. This style program isn!t designed to teach you how to sing higher. If you are having trouble making some of the vocal sounds in this program because your voice isn!t technically ready, we recommend studying with the Singing Success Program or some of our other products such as Jesse Nemitz!s Top 7 Secrets of the Super-High Mix Voice or Brett Manning!s Top 7 Vocal Exercises.
