A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Shoomi in honor of This Year of the Cat - 2014; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Shoomi was born in Smoke Rise, Georgia, where his father was a Tom noted as an effective and efficient vermin eradicator in the suburban wild and his mother was a fast and loose Queen; and

WHEREAS, Shoomi represents the best and purest traits of the proud and noble Snowshoe breed; and

WHEREAS, he was raised in Smoke Rise, Georgia, where he was home schooled in the fine arts of mice and lizard hunting, grooming, fur balls, sun bathing and tree climbing; and

WHEREAS, his family has a long history in this State of partnering with humans in the areas of vermin and insect eradication, love, and purring; and

WHEREAS, upon graduation from the School of Sharp Scratches, Shoomi worked for himself and for the DeKalb Sanitation Department, having found a calling in keeping himself fed, fertilizing flower beds and staying safe from enigmatic raindrops, unruly dogs, vicious coyotes and inattentive human drivers; and

WHEREAS, after nearly fourteen months of solitary patrol of his assigned 5-acre territory in Smoke Rise, he adopted a kind and caring elderly human grandfather, and honored him with the privilege of worshipping the ground he walked on, providing him with regular feedings, and sleeping with him till his legs turned numb; and

WHEREAS, while with this lonely and giving human slave, he helped him understand the power of love, provided order to the other resident felines, kept his human fed with a steady diet of mice, voles, lizards and bats, and survived two brutal attacks while protecting his realm, losing his tail in the process; and

WHEREAS, today, Shoomi is a benevolent Tom dedicated to the care of his devoted human minion, and Grand Poopah and Most Serious Groomer of the other resident felines; and

WHEREAS, this amazing Cat is involved in helping his human minion protect his community of Smoke Rise and Tucker and preserve its history, to increase citizen awareness of the value and significance of incorporation and improve the feline awareness of its children; and

WHEREAS, above and beyond the countless number of hours he spends as a volunteer in his human household, Shoomi has been influential in furthering the Feline Directorate in its ultimate goals of dominating, controlling and subjugating the naive and complacent human domain to its own ends and eliminating the cruel and evil canine influence; and

WHEREAS, he also manages to find time to sit on the keyboard or lap of his human minion to provide advice, assistance and warmth while the human blogs about his interest in the future City of Tucker 2015! on the Tucker Patch, and the City of Tucker Initiative blog; and

WHEREAS, Shoomi is a Cat of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for eating, sleeping, purring, grooming and kindness; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Cat be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body recognize and commend Shoomi in honor of This Year of the Cat 2014 for his extraordinary dedication to protecting and improving the quality of life of his feline cronies and human minions and extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this Resolution to Shoomi, via his human slave and provider.
