$se ModBus Device Importer MDI to create a third party device into ION'Enterprise (earn )ow to *onfigure the MDI and the registers of a +rd party device ,dd a new device type into ION'Enterprise *reate a ION'#ista Diagram that allows you to see the new data coming from the new device

In this particular lab activity the meter to be added is a power meter M!""1 but in future practices you will be adding other type of devices such as (*2s% $ 32s% and other third party power meters among others. It is important that you also understand how this new meter is going to communicate with the ION enterprise system. *ommunications networ/ configuration such as device ID% baud rate% I address is imperative in orther to establish communications with the device. 4. $sing the M,INTEN,N*E button on the front panel of the device% access the communication parameters to establish the communication parameters of this meter. 3ince this is a device with direct Ethernet conne0ion to ION'Enterprise% all you need to /now is& 5555555555555555555555555555555555

3ubnet Mas/& 5555555555555555555555555555555555 6. Open the management console of your ION'Enterprise software
+.
Once you have opened your management console% go to Tools7773ystem777ModBus Device Importer. This action will generate the MDI tool where you can create your new device. 3ee below&
6.
,fter you have the manager created% go ahead and right clic/ on it and select add a new module called& Currents as indicated below&
The modules are simple ob9ects where you organi<e the structure of your register numbers1 for this e0ample we have decided to use the module name *$==ENT3 because we want to locali<e in it the current values for Ia% Ib and Ic inside this module. The screen will loo/ li/e the one below&
+.
Now is time to add the register numbers for the currents Ia% Ib and Ic of your third party meter. =ight clic/ on the current modules and then clic/ on the new register option.
This is where you need to use the register numbers list of your modbus device% in order to enter the information of each one. Below you will see an e0ample for the *urrent ,% and you will do the same for the other currents.
-.
,fter you finished entering the proper information of the register numbers for currents Ia% Ib and Ic% the following window will show you the results of your new register entries&
..
Now is time to add some properties to your new device. 8or that go to #iew777Device roperties under the MDI. The following window will appear&
>.
On the first T,B& device properties% ma/e sure that you add the device type name that you have decided to be the name for your new device1 ,s an e0ample lets use& TestPM8
NOTE: Remember that this is a PM800 meter that is already a device type inside ION-Enterprise. Please do not add this meter a ain as a PM800 meter beca!se the d!plication mi ht created a con"lict in the system. ?. ,dd the device type called& Test M! and ma/e sure you add a template label containing something different that v".".". letrs say v4."." will be fine in this case. The following screen will show the results. It is very important that you add the chec/ bo0 so the new device type will be available for direct Ethernet device communication. The foolowing screen will show the results.
!.
On the ne0t T,B for factory information you can add other information related to the meter as needed.
@.
Inside the advanced T,B ma/e sure you leave the ma0imum number of register to 46. as the default value
*lic/ on OA

+.
,fter you clic/ GE3% the system will confirm that the diagram has been added by showing the following window&
*lic/ OA. -. ,fter this step% go ahead and clic/ on file 77save. This action will add the template of your new device type. Gou can call this as MeterClassPM8
..
Now *lic/ on Tools77,dd Device Type and you will see that after a few seconds the following window will pop up
>.
,fter you clic/ on OA ac/nowledging that device type% the ne0t screen will appear. 3croll down until you find your new device type.
?.
*lic/ close Hust to ma/e sure all has been added correctly% go to Tools777validate template and this will tell you if there are errors during the last device type creation.
!.
"#$%TI!N )ow can you verify from Management *onsole that there are good communications with this new meter& OfficeMeterI 555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555555

-.
*lic/ on your new meter and observe that you have the D.dgmE diagram that you created before. Open the tool bo0 and add the readings to this new diagram. *reate + numeric ob9ects for currents Ia% Ib and Ic for e0ample.
..
Now lin/ each one of this numeric ob9ects to the proper Juantity and the proper device. )ere is an e0ample&

,fter you do this verify that the readings are accordingly to the readings from the third party meter register numbers andKor the meter display
&onus 'ctivity
$sing ModBus Device Importer% add more Juantities into the e0isting newly created device type% or created a new device type using another third party meter.
