Eric Abetz, Leader of the Government in the Senate 19 March 2014 Dear Senator Abetz, As you would be aware serious allegations of corrupt behaviour by officers of the company Australian Water Holdings Pty Ltd have been raised in the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption. These allegations concern conduct during the three year period from 2008 to 2011 when the Assistant Treasurer Senator Arthur Sinodinos was a director and chairman of AWH. Information presented to ICAC appears inconsistent with statements Senator Sinodinos has made to the Senate on his role in AWH, including his statement on 28 February 2013. The Opposition considers that Senator Sinodinos should make a detailed statement to the Senate on his involvement in AWH which fully addresses the matters raised at ICAC. Accordingly, the Opposition will grant leave for Senator Sinodinos to make this statement to the Senate at 9.30 am this morning. We look forward to the Governments cooperation in providing this opportunity for the Assistant Treasurer to discharge his obligations to be accountable to the Parliament and through the Parliament to the public.
