Claw Tips

Claw is definitely a challenging and fun game. We've been playing Claw throughout its development cycle and some of us have gotten pretty darn good at the game. So, we decided to ask our top players for some tips to share with the rest of the world. Not everyone wanted to give away their best secrets so check back often-we'll get those secrets even if we have to haul a few people 'round the keel!

Treasure Items:

General Tips:

#ickup and throw the powder kegs instead of wasting precious ammo $ou do not have very many magic attacks to use in Claw. %nly use magic if you can defeat at least two enemies with one attack. &ump and throw dynamite to get at those hard to reach places 'se the Catnip #ower-up to get the items that are normally out of reach, but be (uick, as your Catnip will not last very long! )*tra lives are awarded every one million points. +ry and find as much +reasure as you can to rack up your score! #ickup and throw your enemies whenever you have the chance. Save your ammo for the enemies that have long-range attacks to use against you. ,on't hoard your #istol "mmo and ,ynamite. 'se these against the regular enemies in the levels as these weapons normally will not work against the -osses in the game. "lways, be on the lookout for Warps and secrets in the levels. +he warp areas will contain the best treasure, and are also the only way to collect all of the treasure in the level. +here is one Super Secret area in level .., one in level ./, and one in level .0. $ou don't need Catnip to get to these areas, but they are e*tremely hard to find. See if you can find all three of them!

Defeating Specific Enemies:

+he best trick to defeat the 1obber +hieves and Cutthroats, on levels / and 0, is to dodge their arrows and knives and attack them with a high slash attack. +he white and brown 2uard ,ogs, on levels 3 and 4, are very defensive. $our sword will rarely do damage against them. 'se your pistol on them instead! +he -ear Sailors on levels 5, 6, and ./ will try to grab and crush you. 7f you get grabbed, (uickly press as many buttons and movements as you can to get out of the attack. 1ed +ail #irates on levels 5, 6, and ./ hate to be punched. +hey are most vulnerable to an attack immediately after they swing at you. " (uick way to defeat the crabs on level 5 is to use a 8agic Claw. #eg 9eg #irates on levels : and .; will be stunned if you hit them in their peg leg. +hey also hate to be punched. Cra<y =ook #irates on levels : and .; will swing their hooks at you. "fter they swing, you can run in close to hit them.

+he 8ercats on levels .. and .> will shoot tridents at you if they see you. +ry to stay out of sight and come in for a sneak attack. +he Sirens on level .. and .> will free<e you if they hit you with their attack so make sure that you rid the area of any 8ercats before you get near the Sirens. +he 1oyal +iger 2uards on level .0, hate to be picked up and thrown.

Defeating Bosses:
Le Rauxe, (level 2) &ump towards 9e 1au*e and as you come down from the ?ump, attack him. 7mmediately crouch and attack 9a 1au*e again and then ?ump back, out of the way of his attack. 7f you get too close to a wall, ?ump over 9e 1au*e to the other side of the room and start your attack pattern again. ,on't stand still for very long, and you'll lacerate 9e 1au*e in no time! Katherine, (level 4) &ump towards @atherine and hit her with a high slash attack. "s soon as your feet hit the ground, ?ump away from her and repeat. 7f you happen to stun @atherine, kneel down in front of her and attack as many times as you can. 1unning away does not work against @atherine, as her whip will be able to hit you wherever you go. @eep ?umping and you'll kill @atherine, (uickly! Wolvington, (level 6) &ump towards Wolvington and hit him with a high slash attack. 7mmediately attack Wolvington with a low slash to force him back. Now, (uickly ?ump towards him and repeat. Wolvington will shoot magic attacks at you, so be prepared to dodge like cra<y! 7f you stay fairly close to him, he won't shoot attacks at you, but he will try close range attacks, so be careful. @eep it up and you'll waste Wolvington! Gabriel, (level 8) &ump up the disappearing platforms to the top and then ?ump to the right and hit the switch on the mast. +his will tilt the cannon so that it's pointing at 2abriel. +hen ne*t time 2abriel fires a cannonball at you, it will hit him instead. Now, ?ust ?ump back up the platforms and repeat until 2abriel does himself in! Aend off the enemies that hop down to fight you, and try the best you can to avoid the e*plosions while you're hitting that switch and you'll win! Marrow, (level 10) Wait by the pit and hit the parrot when you see it fly towards you. "fter you hit the parrot three times, the bridge will appear. 1un across the bridge and use a ?umping high slash attack on 8arrow. %nce you hit 8arrow five times, the parrot will pick 8arrow up and fly to the opposite side of the screen. Buickly ?ump up to the platform and wait for the parrot again. @eep repeating until you mash 8arrow! !uati", (level 12) 'se your sword to hit the three tentacles and get them out of your way. Now, run to the right edge of the platform and heave a stick of dynamite by holding the button down, into a small hole ?ust behind "(uatis. +he dynamite will e*plode in the hole and shake loose a stalactite from the ceiling. +he stalactite will fall and do damage to "(uatis. Now,

(uickly run as far to the left as you can to avoid "(uatis' tentacle fren<y and then repeat. +here is no need to stand on the small floating platform ne*t to "(uatis for any reason. @eep it up and you'll soon abolish "(uatis! Re# $ail, (level 1%) +he first thing you want to do, is to hop up onto the platform above you. $ou'll be torn to shreds if you stay on the ground. Stay up high to avoid most of 1ed +ail's attacks. %nce you are up above, try and stay right over 1ed +ail as he runs back and forth. When he ?umps up to your platform, kneel down and attack when he lands from his ?ump. =e should then ?ump back down to the ground. Stay up there and repeat until 1ed +ail is roasted! 7f you'd like a little e*tra help with 1ed +ail, stay on the bottom and run like cra<y to the right. 8ake a running ?ump out into the water and you will land on a hidden platform in the water. @eep going to the right and grab the special goodies then ride the moving platform back to the battle! &'ar, (level 14) %mar has protective shields going around him, so your special attacks aren't going to do any damage on him. ,rop down to the area below and look at %mar to see what shield he has around himself. %mar switches between a Aire shield and an 7ce shield, so if you see a Aire shield, climb up the ladder and follow the right path. Climb down the ne*t ladder and go to the right. 2rab the 7ce Sword and return to %mar. Now, shoot an 7ce bolt through the opening in %mar's shield to do damage. 7f you see an 7ce shield, climb up the ladder and follow the left path. Climb down the ne*t ladder and go to the left. 2rab the Aire Sword and return to %mar. Now, shoot a Aire bolt through the opening in %mar's shield to do damage. @eep doing this until you obliterate %mar. Now, climb up the ladder and ride the lift up to the top. $ou'll need to time your ?umps over the lava and %mar's attacks and ?ump over to him. %nce you are ne*t to %mar, attack him with your sword to do damage. Now, go over to the opposite side and repeat until you win the game!

Claw Cheat Codes

Why is thatC Well, Claw is no different and has a large selection of cheat codes buried deep within the lines of code.
