Colonial Game Board


Directions: 1. Students will work in groups of two to create a game board for the American Revolution. 2. First, students must get foam board to create their game. 3. Second, they must create any type of game about the American Revolution. It could be on any theme that they learned in class. Example: Ben Franklin Boston Tea Party Paul Reveres Ride 4. Next, they must put a title on their game board. 5. There must be understandable directions for the game board. The directions may be written or typed. 6. Students must provide game pieces and dice or a spinner for it. 7. Finally, students must come up with at least fifty questions that they learned in class about the American Revolution. They should put these questions on index cards. The question should be on the front of the card, and the answer should be on the back. 8. Students may create the game board any way they want. You may draw your game board or create it on the computer. They should put their names on the back of the game board. 9. When the students are done with the game, put the board in a large bag. Put the following items in a large freezer bag: questions, game pieces, spinner or dice, and directions. 10. An example of a game board, directions, and questions are attached to this assignment. 11. Suggested time allotment to complete assignment is three weeks.

Directions for the Game: Find the Continental Army


Objective: Player who gets to the finish space first finds the Continental Army. Number of Players: 2 Materials Needed: 1. Game board 2. Playing pieces 3. Question cards 4. Dice Directions: 1. Place your game pieces on the space called Start. 2. Roll the dice to see who goes first. The player with the highest roll will go first. 3. Move clockwise around the board. 4. When you land on a space that says, Question Card, the other player must ask you a question from the stack of cards. If you get it right, you roll again. If you get it wrong, you lose your turn. 5. Keep going until you get to the space that says, Finish.
