Reflection Paper

First I want to say that before the starting of Introduction to Philosophy I always reading books that about philosophy and the name of Socrates I accidently pick, and before I do this reflection paper about Socrates I questioned some higher years, to know, what is the best philosopher among the three they say that Socrates is the best because the two are insane. Socrates was a famous philosopher in ancient Greek. We know more about him from what other people said and wrote that from what he himself recorded. It was not the tradition in those days to write much of anything or to say to others. Socrates himself didnt write down much at all. He didn't talk about himself much, either. The best source for the thoughts and deeds of Socrates is probably the Dialogues of Plato, a student of the great teacher. From other writings as well, the following summary of Socrates' life can be built He was born in 470. Extremely little is known about his early life. As an adult he was a stone-cutter. He was married and had three sons. His wife was named Xanthippe; his sons were Lamprocles, Sophroniscus, and Menexenus. He was a hoplite in the Athenian army. These soldiers had to buy their own armor, so Socrates must have had some money, although he certainly wasn't rich. He also fought in several major battles in The Peloponnesian War, in one case saving the life of Alcibiades, who would later be one of the leaders of the Athens military machine.

Socrates says Knowledge is Virtue and Ignorance is vice or All vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad; correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Do you believe that words of Socrates. So first of all I want to explain in my own words of what Socrates says? First what is virtue?

Virtue meaning the goodness of life or simply as our character or a good quality, power and strength. So it is simply if we will use it to our daily lives if we have, unfortunately all of us have a virtue we can use it to our daily lives we can became a Priest, Doctor, Engineer or other vocations, if we use it but, if we are ignorance a big NO,

For me no words described people that is ignorance because all of us is same, because god created us even god also created an a abnormal person because god have a meaning to that children no such thing for me as a ignorance, I dont believe in this words by Socrates, Man experience problems because of ignorance, no because for my own theory no words that is ignorance, if there is something that is ignorance probably that is a animal not a people, man experiencing problems because of their laziness not because of ignorance. Knowledge is good because it makes hold in the human conduct. Knowledge means wisdom which in turn means virtue. Since knowledge is inborn, virtue is likewise a natural endowment, not an artificial convention or habit of action to be acquired by education. Since virtue is inborn in the mind and selfknowledge is the source of all wisdom, then the only way to acquire virtue is simply to know what is in the mind, in the self. Virtue then depended on knowledge and could be defined as true knowledge of one's self. So, we reach the famous Socratic saying" "Knowledge is virtue: ignorance is vice." That's why knowledge is good. For Socrates If we have knowledge we have a virtue but if we are ignorance we are vice, there is such thing that as vice or for Socrates is ignorance. Socrates believed that all vice is the result of ignorance, and that no person is willingly bad correspondingly, virtue is knowledge, and those who know the right will act rightly. Knowing thyself For Socrates know thyself means happiness is impossibly without moral virtues. Unethical person is weak, and unmoral person is slaves of his desires. For my own perspective or understanding to Socrates knowing thyself; he means that in order to fully understand the world we must first understand ourselves why we act the way we want to do, why do we

believe what we want to do, how can we improve our self, what are our motivations, our needs, our wants, our faults and our virtues at on a general level of mankind alone, but must be bring down to the individual first. For you take the time to know yourself, you will begin to understand the main ideas of the universe. Man is a microcosm that where we look of the look of the nature, compared to the macrocosm of the universe and can be considered holographic. Whatever exits in the universe exists also in man in a small amount. But to understand how this works you have to understand pattern. Understand the pattern in the human body and you'll understand the own selves. So know I understand myself.
