About the Workshop Technologies used for electric power Transmission and control are experiencing a major change

due to the rapid growth of new energy generation technologies (renewables energy resources). Integration of renewable energy resources improves the performance of the electric transmission system in terms of better reliability and eco-green power generation. However, the operation and control of the electric power system becomes very challenging during their integration. Smart grid technologies can help manage the unpredictability of wind and solar to help alleviate reliability and stability issues caused by power fluctuations. This will become increasingly important as more wind and solar power is connected to the grid. This workshop will address various important issues related to operation of grid & integration of renewable energy resources such as stability, power quality, operation and control, protection, regulatory and market related issues.

Participants
The workshop is directed towards researchers, power utilities, consultants, designers & practicing engineers, large power consumers/industries, manufacturers and academic and research institutes involved in application, maintenance & development of wind farms and power system integrations.

Topics to be covered
Vision of smart transmission grid. Frequency and voltage stability issues in smart transmission grid with large scale RES integration Grid Operation and Regulatory perspective & issues with increase in Renewable energy penetration. Basic grid properties and grid code Protection in smart transmission grid with large scale renewable integration Optimal location and maximum penetration of large scale renewable energy Role of PMU in large scale RES integration Power Quality issues with large scale RES integration Role of power electronic devices in the smart grid under large scale RES integration. Controller design and grid integration issues Case studies related to grid integration of Wind generation
