Customer Grievances DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEM - REMOTE TERMINAL UNITS (RTU) ERO Account Access The Remote Terminal Unit S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200, used in this projectis a Consumer Analysis Tool multi processor RTU with distributed software and functions with powerful features and a flexible configuration. The I/O boards handle all the I/O (CAT) tasks directly related to the physical handling of the I/O signals, the pre Remote processing of the I/O signals, and the transfer of the data via the I/O bus of Metering the main processor. The main controls the I/O modules and is in charge of Microcontrollers all functions related to the overall RTU functionality. The Remote Terminal Unit (S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU200) collects data from the process, pre processes Downloads and transmits the same through radio communication unit to the SCADA Communication server (RCS 300) of the Control Centre at Erragadda.

Overview The S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200 interfaces to the analog and digital
process signals depicting the primary process of the substation and forwards the obtained information to the Master Station.

The S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200 also provides the suitable output signals
to forward the control information from the Master Station to the process (i.e., opening / closing of breaker).

Error detection for data communication with Master station to

ensure data integrity.

Time synchronisation with Master station computer Facility to store data in memory in case of failure of communication
link to the master station

Local Time tagging of events in the RTU Prioritised reporting of events and alarms Check before execute feature for control commands
Serial RS 232C link to laptop PC for use as a portable engineering and diagnostic test unit Serial communication with Protection Devices or Intelligent ElectronicDevices. For this project, TVMs are interfaced to the S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200.No protection devices are connected to the RTU in this project. The I/O subsystem is handled by the I/O processor and the associated I/O modules, each I/O module having its own micro controller.

Configuration The main parts of the S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200 are the Main Processor, I/O interface modules, interface module and Power supply unit. The I/O interface is either the basic S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200 I/O system or optionally any other subsystems connected to the Main Processor via serial communication links. Main CPU Module The CPU module of RTU200 is called 23ZG20. It control the communication to the I/O modules and other peripherals. An RS485 serial bus is used to communicate to the modules. The CPU collects information from the different I/O modules, processes them. I/O system The I/O system provides the Peripheral Bus Processor with pre-processed information from the primary process and forwards control information to the primary process. The data acquisition and output of process information is carried out by each of the I/O-boards. Each of these boards is equipped with its own processor which is responsible for basic data acquisition functions. Digital Input Module Each Digital Input card (23BE21) has its own microprocessor and caters to 16 inputs. The time taken to scan all the sixteen inputs is 1ms. This enables the system to have a resolution of 1ms for digital inputs. Digital Output Module Each Digital Output card (23BA20) has its own microprocessor and contains 16 relay outputs, which could be used to give ON/OFF commands (called object commands) to eight (8) breakers. Analog Input Module The Analog Input card (23AE21) also has its own microprocessor. It caters to 8 analog inputs, whose ranges are individually programmable (0 - 5 mA, 4-20 mA, 5 mA, 0-1 V DC, etc.,). The module carries out limit violation checks, dead band checks, smoothing and analog to digital conversion. Limit violations are treated as events and can be time stamped in this module. Interface Module This module (23CP62IN) is used for interfacing the TVMs to the RTU. This module is provided with RS232C ports. A RS232C to RS485 converter will be used for connecting the meters to the RTU. Cabinet and power supply The cabinet proposed is a floor-standing cabinet with swing frame for the configuration of S.P.I.D.E.R. RTU 200 module racks and other details are as per the drawings enclosed. Power Supply

Each module rack is fitted with its own power supply unit which receives 48 V DC from the power distribution board and provides 5 V DC and 24 V DC power supplies to the other modules in the rack.

POWER SUPPLIES

The Central station is powered by redundant UPS of 15 KVA Capacity. The Communication system equipment at the central station gets power from a dual battery charger with 160 AH of batteries.

All the TDMA stations are powered by 160 AH dual battery - charger units while the 33/11 kv Stations have 80 AH battery - charger units. The batteries used are of Sealed Maintenance Free (SMF) type batteries.

SERVICES

The turn key responsibility entrusted to M/s ABB calls for all the associated services involved in the execution of this mega project, the first of its kind in India.
