Help from Ray Peat fb group: Fruit (esp stone.

Berries, melon) OJ dairy diverse meats (less muscle meat more liver, shellfish, etc, eggs, broth, gelatin ) Reduce veggies but some leafy greens like kale are ok. Avoid PUFA but sat/mono fats like butter, coconut, olive are fine. coffee, sugar, salt. Indulge cravings for these. Consider supplementing aspirin (w vitamin K), magnesium, perhaps vit E (mixed no t just d-alpha) and/or thyroid. Mexican coke is ok as long as you're getting nutrients somewhere. Caffeine is great even in large amounts (but not to discomfort - ymmv) just be s ure to get lots of sugar with it. Caffeine has thyroid-like quantities Coffee has other useful nutrients. A latte with lots of sugar is a good option. cooked or very ripe bananas and cooked apples are ok. Some ppl might have a pro blem with the pectin. PUFAs are most vegetable and seed oils - canola, peanut, flax, avocado etc. also in most above-ground vegetables. It's in most restaurant and other industrial f ood btw. While some frown on too much pure sugar, there isn't much better for directly op posing adrenaline. In a way, a big purpose of adrenaline IS to increase blood su gar! Try this: in half a cup of warm water dissolve a heaping tablespoon sugar, teasp oon baking soda and some salt. It tastes sort of like Irish soda bread. Sip it d own. I find this surprisingly relaxing. a healthy thyroid makes T3 about 4 mcg per hour Peat also advocates ldn it for some people. 1 grain of armor has 38 mcg T4 ... 9mcg of T3 carrot Salty OJ or ice cream can help with sleep.

Naomi Nmr Last year, I started with 25 mc of T4, then increased to 50 after a co uple weeks. I increased more, but I think even at 25, that was helping. I was al so doing about 25 mcg of T3 at that time. This year, I reversed it, I take maybe 50 mcg of T3 and 12.5 mcg T4 at night - more than that makes me groggy. ....... divided doses of T3, spread out all day, into the early evening. T4 all at once liver for A, sun for D Aspirin is good, but take with food and dissolved in water. T3. Small amounts several times daily are better than larger amounts. Start with something like 1-3 mcg every couple of hours or so. Bananas are starchy, and MANY people have trouble with them. I would cut them ou t if I were you

Started with a quarter grain, built up to 1,5 - 2 carla rothenberg hormone barbara seaman Healthy thyroid, low cortisol, and low estrogen; these are the things he's conce rned with. CORTISOL. The primary role of cortisol is to turn protein into glucose during a glucose deficiency. HISTAMINE. High estrogen causes high histamine; held in uterus. Prog. lowers his tamine and gives oxygen and sugar delivery. TESTOSTERONE. Animal ovary removed - found testosterone good to deliver oxygen a nd sugar (it's a progestin to preserve pregnancy) VASECTOMY / MEN & PROGESTERONE. Vasectomy - men need progesterone PARATHYROID HORMONE. Increased parathyroid hormone is associated with the so-cal led metabolic syndrome, which includes diabetes, obesity and hypertension (Ahlst rm, et al., 2009; Hjelmesaeth, et al., 2009; McCarty, et al. 2003). PTH is kept l ow by thyroid, calcium, copper, magnesium, and vitamin D. Fructose also helps re gulate PTH by lowering serum phosphate (Kapur, 2000) and decreasing its absorpti on from the intestine (Kirchner, et al., 2008). In addition, fructose seems to e nhance the retention of minerals involved in restraining the synthesis of parath yroid hormone (Holbrook, et al. 1989) SUGAR. Sucrose and fructose not a problem when no PUFAS are taken in. "Sugar and thyroid hormone (T3, triiodothyronine) correct many parts of the problem. The c onversion of T4 into the active T3 requires glucose, and in diabetes, cells are deprived of glucose. Fructose (more so than glucose) supports the production of carbon dioxide. Not enough sugar, body releases cortisol and adrenaline and make s muscle go away. GLUCURONIC ACID. the production of glucuronic acid to clear estrogen out of the liver: "Hypothyroidism prevents the liver from attaching glucuronic acid to estr ogen, and so increases the body s retention of estrogen, which in turn impairs the thyroid gland s ability to secrete thyroid hormone." STARCHES. "Starch and glucose efficiently stimulate insulin secretion, and that accelerates the disposition of glucose, activating its conversion to glycogen an d fat, as well as its oxidation. Fructose inhibits the stimulation of insulin by glucose, so this means that eating ordinary sugar, sucrose (a disaccharide, con sisting of glucose and fructose), in place of starch, will reduce the tendency t o store fat." PROTEIN. 80-100g per day or more. Not much muscle meat because it causes thyroid probs., inflammation, stress. Balance muscle with milk, cheese and glycine-rich gelatin (or bone broth). THYROID PILLS. Half a grain of Armour, or about 30 mcg of T4 and 7.5 mcg of T3, is traditionally a common starting dose; it should be taken with a meal Taking a very small amount at bedtime usually helps with insomnia. As long as it's divid ed so that you don't get a big dose of T3 all at once it should be o.k. to take a total of 25 mcg T3 and 100 of T4.That would be similar to the traditional 2 gr ain dose of Armour thyroid. A healthy person should produce the equivalent of ab

out four grains per daythe thyroid will stimulate the conversion of cholesterol into progesterone and the adrenal hormones. Using a thyroid supplement temporari ly might help to lower your estrogen. Since T3 is used up very quickly, allowing the proinflammatory TSH to rise during the night, it would help if you used Cyn oplus at bedtime, instead of Cynomel. If you were taking 10 mcg of cynomel, then a third of a tablet of cynoplus would provide that, as well as the T4 that hold s the TSH down longer. Having an egg every day, and liver once a week, will help to balance the effects of the thyroid hormone, which increases your need for vi tamins, especially vitamin A. "I have known a few very hypothyroid people who had extremely fast pulse rates c onstantly for years, that slowed down immediately when they normalized their thy roid. Temperature of fingers and toes, appetite, thirst, and restfulness of slee p are other indicators of thyroid function". -Ray Peat T3. As T3 declines, it lowers pregnenolone and progesterone which caused DHEA le vels to rise. VITAMIN A. Anti-estrogenic. It's a precursor to progesterone. TSH. best to keep the TSH around 0.4 B12 / BETA CAROTENE. B12 to be able to convert any carotene that's in your food. I avoid carotene, because it blocks thyroid and steroid production YEAST / THRUSH / LEUKOPLAKIA. Yeasts are attracted to estrogen and glucose, and when the thyroid hormone is deficient the antibodies that normally protect membr anes tend to be deficient. It's important to know for sure exactly what the prob lem is, since leukoplakia is sometimes mistaken for thrush. A rinse with a littl e powdered sulfur usually eliminates yeast, vitamin A, along with other adequate nutrition, can often correct leukoplakia. B VITAMINS. Some of the B vitamins, especially B2, can be very allergenic. B6 do esn't affect the others very much; 10 mg per day is a big dose. BLOOD SUGAR. Salt, which helps to maintain blood sugar, also tends to lower adre nalin, and hypothyroid people often lose salt too easily in their urine and swea t. PUFAS. The main way they [PUFA] are detoxified is by attaching glucuronic acid, making them water soluble, so they leave in the urine. Keeping the free fatty ac ids low in relation to albumin, they will largely be carried bound to the albumi n to the liver. In supplements, they remove Vit. E from the body. VITAMIN D. I use Carlson's, and I think most of the informed people are recommen ding about 2,000 units per day. John Cannell's site, "the vitamin D council," ha s a newsletter, and is a good way to keep up with the vitamin D research. PREGNENOLONE. Ordinarily, you can make enough from converting sugar to cholester ol, with thyroid and vitamin A converting cholesterol to the other hormones. inc reases the tone of connective tissues, causing the fascia and similar tissues to contract, if they have been sagging from a metabolic energy problem (caused by accumulated PUFA). Cholesterol, thyroid hormone, and vitamin A are used to synth esize the "anti-stress" steroid-precursor, pregnenolone. LIGHTING. u.v. lamps are good for use in the winter. INFLAMMATION. Sweet fruits are anti-inflammatory and help to keep the liver func

tioning, including keeping cholesterol up and keeping estrogen and cortisol unde r control. Glycine is the main anti-inflammatory amino acid, and it can normall y be made in adequate amounts, but some proteins, especially muscle meats, don't have enough Glycine in relation to tryptophan. Fruits and milk or cheese will u sually provide a good balance of the main nutrients, but sometimes gelatin is ve ry useful to balance the other proteins. CHOLESTEROL. Need enough Vit. A to convert cholesterol to hormones. Sweet fruits keep cholesterol up. Low cholesterol w/ slightly low thyroid = steroids not pro duced, inflammation occurs w/ connective pain tissue, waist fat, constipation. E ndotoxins slow liver's detox process. If cholesterol is too low, consume more fr uctose. SEROTONIN. When estrogen is relatively high, tryptophan turns into serotonin and slows the thyroid, lowers the temperature. CALCIUM. Sodium and vitamin K are closely involved in calcium metabolism. TEETH. I use baking soda, and I rinse my mouth after having sugar, orange juice, etc. The quality of the saliva, regulated mainly by the thyroid hormone, is the main factor in dental health. My newsletter on osteoporosis mentioned some of t he studies on thyroid, estrogen, and tooth decay. SEX. High estrogen does sometimes cause insatiable sexual interest, partly becau se it increases adrenal androgens, and partly by inhibiting satisfying orgasms. Too much progesterone can suppress or neutralize the androgens. Thyroid is the b est way to regulate the system, keeping libido up, making orgasms satisfying. BLOOD SUGAR. The T3 component of the thyroid hormone makes muscles and other tis sues oxidize sugar. Calcium, sodium, and aspirin are other things that increase the ability to use glucose. A low sugar diet can cause chronically high cortiso l. When insulin goes up, estrogen goes up. CO2 (BAG BREATHING). Just until it's uncomfortable, usually a minute or two, dep ending on the size of the bag. If you do it a few times in a day, you might noti ce that it makes your skin (e.g., under nails) pinker, by improving circulation. TEMPERATURE. Under 98 degrees = I'm in an inflammatory state. ASPIRIN. it's very important to take vitamin K with aspirin. It can help with sl eep, but you should try it first in the afternoon, because sometimes its first e ffect can stimulate your metabolism and delay sleep. If you use it regularly, yo u should have some vitamin K (for example liver once a week). When aspirin and n iacinamide lower the temperature I think it's because they lower the stress horm ones. get enough vitamin K, to prevent excess bleeding. the crystals are more stable, but I keep the big container (a multi-year supply) in the freezer, and k eep out enough for a couple of months. The powdered forms developed an acetic ac id smell with time, the crystals don't. PUFAS. Harmful because causes estrogenic effect, anti-thyroid, and pro-cortisol.
