December 16, 1994, is a merchandising company with the purpose of buying, selling, distributing, marketing at retail all kinds of goods, commodities, wares and merchandise and other construction related materials. However, technically, the company is a manufacturer of prepainted long span roofing, decking, and cladding products. They add value to the finished goods (which, in the view of the company, are raw materials) by way of customization of the said products and, in turn, they sell the new finished goods to their customers.

Vision The vision of Colorsteel is to be known as the steel institution of quality and affordable complete roof systems and decking products and services available all over the Philippines. The company reinforces the understanding of its employees in the companys vision and mission not only by letting their employees recite weekly but also, they are asked regularly by their supervisors on how they can contribute to the attainment and pursuit of the companys vision and mission. Mission: To rollform excellent profiles of roofing, decking and cladding at a very competitive price using the highest quality standards of raw materials. To seek customer satisfaction by providing outstanding services in the delivery and installation of all company products, Proposed Mission:

Objective To increase brand awareness and customer satisfaction by providing quality roofing products, excellent services such as fast delivery at competitive prices.

2. Strategies Short-term According to Mr. Fulgencio, the current short-term strategy of Colorsteel is to penetrate all subdivisions, OFW and government engineering. In order to accomplish this, as of now, the sales engineers are given a list of prospective clients (contractors) for a given target area. Then, they are given possible routes indicating high-end and low-end subdivisions where they can saturate. Additionally, their current strategy is to improve customer satisfaction by educating their customers about roofing and conducting after-sales survey. Long-term On a long term basis, in order to attain the vision of Colorsteel, the companys long -term strategy is to set up plants all over the country tapping the three island groups of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Found in Pampanga are two plants. One in central Luzon which is the main plant located at Barangay Del Rosario, City of San Fernando and the second one is found in the south of Luzon. Housed in the western Visayas is the Iloilo Plant and found in Mindanao is the Davao Plant. Additionally, according to Mr. Fulgencio, they are persistently improving the quality of their products and services. He adds that the management of Colorsteel believes that customer satisfaction is the key to attain their vision. Strategies, in order to be effective, should always be updated. Colorsteels strategies arent always new. 3. Organizational Structure

The Marketing department directly reports to the General Manager of the company. Thus, the organizational structure of the marketing department is included in the Sales Department

Managing every area is an area sales manager. Under the area sales manager is the sales and Engineering department of that area. Under sales is a branch supervisor. Under the branch supervisor is an estimator. Under the estimator are sales engineers. On this area, only NCR has special project supervisor, in-house sales coordinator, and steel deck specialist. As to the Engineering Department, an Engineering officer manages all the branches of the specific area. Under the engineering officer is 1 or 2 project engineer(s). Below the project engineer is a sales

engineer. This structure follows in all the 5 Areas. Under Area 1 are NCR, Bulacan, and Rizal. Under Area 2 are San Fernando Pampanga, Tarlac, Cabanatuan, and Isabela. Under Area 3 are La Union, Baguio, Calasiao, Urdaneta, and Laoag. Area 4 includes Bataan, Cavite, and Lucena. Area 5 includes Davao, Gensan, Iloilo and Bacolod.

eel is headed by Arnel Samonte, the Plant Manager. He holds four plants in total. Directly reporting to him are the Documentation and Control Coordinator, Planning Assistant, Traffic and Delivery Assistant, 3 Dispatchmen, 2 Documentation and Control Staff and Plant Supervisors of each plant. Each plant has Plant Supervisor who works hand in hand with the Warehouse Supervisor. At the San Fernando Plant, directly reporting to the Supervisor are the two Warehouse Assistants, 2 Maintenance Technicians and 10 Machine Operators. For the Cavite Plant, directly reporting to the Supervisor are the Plant Coordinator and the 10 Machine operators/Benders. At the Cavite, Iloilo and Davao Plants, directly reporting to the Supervisor are the warehouse supervisor, plant Coordinator and 10 Machine Operators/Benders.

The Plant Operations Department involves a linear and systematic flow so it is reasonable that the organizational was structured in a tall manner.

The Human Resource Department originally consists of the HR Manager who is the overall incharge of the other personnel in the department. She is then followed by the HR Supervisor. The HR Supervisor, in turn, directs the HRD Assistants and the Utility Manager. To better improve the line of communication and better delineate the tasks, the group suggests that the HR Supervisor be eliminated and instead, the company should hire HR Assistants who are separately in charge for the recruitment, selection and processing and payroll.

The organizational structure serves as the skeletal system of an organization. The organizational structure of Colorsteel signifies a narrow or tall span of management. Each manager only handles a few number of subordinates. This is an advantage for the company since the quality of performance and discipline is improved due to close supervision. Also, the efforts of subordinates can be easily coordinated. There are disadvantages, though. A tall or narrow span of management entails a very slow process and there is higher supervisory cost.
