The whole purpose of gaining wisdom is to become wise.

Wisdom tooth/teeth might fall apart, but not a wise man! It is wise to be wise and it is equally dumb to be dumb! Is rigorous knowledge about one particular discipline and rigid implementation of the same all about wisdom? When sight is what man is content about, insight will almost make him complacent! Is insight all about wisdom? Common sense in common people at common times is so uncommon, yet, is common sense all about wisdom? Is capability to understand and ability to experience the subtleties of ones own unique individuality and also the universal consciousness all about wisdom?

Rich blend and a richer integration of rigorous knowledge, insight, commonsense, understanding and experiencing the subtleties of ones own unique individuality and also the universal consciousness, backed with the harmonious application of the same without deviating from the standard whatsoever, is wisdom according to me. But how wisdom becomes embodied into a being? Is there anything which acts as a propellant that flows as if in a channel into the internal mechanism of the beings system that further allows internalization of the wisdom? Well, there can be no mythical thought than this! Wisdom is neither supernatural nor magical. It begins at an external or the global ecosystem and ends at an internal or the individual ecosystem. Its aeonian connection with nature makes it natural. Wisdom might be natural, but it comes hard way, by a person being defiant to his/her natural instincts. Leading an instinctive life and also life based on faith is hardwired into our genes. But, it is only when righteous faith overpowers instincts, wisdom dawns and freedom falls into place. What are instincts and why are they to be overmastered? Instincts as per Indian scriptures are four, viz., hunger, sleep, sex and fear. If one strikes a chord with the depiction of human beings in the words of Socrates- Human beings are social animals; it is probably because the above mentioned four instincts are the commonalities that we share with animals. Probably, he has meant, animals living in society are human beings! Personally, I disagree with Socrates and have my own way of defining a human being in a context in the near future. However, what should aid us in knowing the gravity of overwhelming these instincts is probably the fact that, these four instincts have vast potential in diabolically minting more money than any other industry! Just call upon mentally once, these industries- Hotel as an industry, Medications in many ways for people who are deprived of sleep or hospitals in general as an industry, Pornography as a work of evil industries or call it respectfully as a work of connoisseur industries or acts of industrious prostitutes and their ardent service

towards the frantic sex-mongers and last but not the least, Insurance of all kinds originating yet again from one more humongous commercial industry. Well, turning back to the theme with more diligence, instincts have in them the innate capacity to drive a person and shape his/her personality. Four instincts chiselling a personality is as dangerous as cultivating a garden based on the whimsical and fantastical thoughts of twenty neighbourhoods. Human beings should have freedom of choice and control over how they should groom their personality. Hence, human beings incessantly seek freedom, which in itself is otherwise seeking wisdom. Physically unshackled or not put in a dungeon, able to perform mostly all that they want to, yet, human beings continually seek freedom. What freedom are they exactly behind? A compendious explanation of freedom would be the ability to stay in tune with ones mtier and be unruffled by the most enticing temptations, as that person truly lives by his/her conviction and forte. Amidst, appreciate the subjective truths of each; impartially and thereby equilibrate between the intellectual and emotional quotients, eventually to build up his/her efficacy in getting hold of symphony within and with-out, which truly is in itself spirituality. This can be otherwise also termed as the characteristics of a wise man. Any man has the ability to be wise going beyond the fetters of four instincts. Hence, human being is a potpourri of unique abilities which he exhibits by resisting and sometimes transcending the forces of instincts. With such an outline on the backdrop, let us intricately take part in the dissection of wisdom, which in other words is just freedom. Each person has his/her own set of strengths. When it is nutrified, a lovely and a promising flower called right identity blossoms. Developing a sense of right identity can be the right nourishment to accomplish superior goals in ones life. This ability to perform what one desires based on the strengths one has is called intellectual growth and intellectual freedom. Intellectual achievement backed up with ethics and etiquettes lead to emotional growth and emotional freedom. This kind of a steady growth comes from unintimidated tenacity complimented with flawless conviction. All these add up in developing the special quality to respect others subjective belief systems and environments constructed by them for savouring their own life. Drawing a thick line between admiring others strengths and being influenced by others strengths is what wisdom is. Cherishing ones own blessings and yet understand and appreciate others blessing is discovering real symphony of life and true spiritual practice. On the other hand, it is obvious for a man to be rattled once in a while by the most alluring things around. But for a man to be constantly beguiled by external things, is alarming and calls for a psychological analysis straightaway and maybe even for a round of counselling. Such people, capable, yet unable to nurture their own strengths, forever and incessantly feel unblessed of having nothing and develop a void feeling forgetting ones own

unique possessions. Such a state tardily moves them towards the process of deterioration and may be even towards a psychologically ill state called depression. Such tendencies if not curbed can outgrow them, to finally overpower them to a null state of existence. Youth of the present world especially, have to be taught this discernment to know what is bad about being influenced and what is good about being inspired! One hour of lecture from a world renowned guitarist can shake the inner conviction the child has developed about being a physician or a physicist. This is influence! An hour lecture from a famous football player can make athletes of a cricket coaching centre feel deprived of right motivation to have started with football coaching from the beginning days. This is the evil of influence! This loose inner conviction and feeble faith in themselves, has massacred the talented chunks of adolescents across the globe. The above mentioned influences have at least an underlying ability to be inspiring, but what about those exceedingly, intensifying, negatively influential programs that appear on the idiot box? Well, if we now relook at the question what freedom is exactly man behind, (especially the adult) the answer speculatively would be hidden, in an incomplete growth from the beginning. As in, nurturing something other than his/her strengths and finally find something for livelihood rather than truly living by his/her strengths. It would also be, hypothetically, that his faith or belief system and inner conviction is not strengthened from within. It would also be loose moral system or an extremely agitating inner struggle against his own realities of life, which is further hindering his normal operations of life. Such seekers are in a very perplexing state of life where they have been unknowingly and justly justifying the injustice they have committed towards their own life! Well, the reality of life is to find the real identity. Undoubtedly, all inadvertently, move initially on the path of sating their basic instincts called hunger, sleep, sex and fear. When this becomes the primary objective of life, life becomes incomplete and the person becomes mediocre. Driven by four instincts, if one, all the time is preoccupied in feeding them by hook or crook, he sees a dip and total decline in lifes quality. Unvaryingly, if one contemplates on the four directly or indirectly, the vision of a consummate life and other lofty things of life slowly diminish and life comes to a naught. Hope this amount of substantiation is adequate in proving the scriptures most significant insight- controlling ones own senses and transcending instincts. Before winding up, an analogy in the form of a practical solution, as provided by Krishna in his Bhagavad-Gita would be culled out as it is to demonstrate how ones real identity can be identified. Chariot is the body. Reins are the mind. Horses are the sense organs. Path is the objects for the sense organs to feed upon. Charioteer (Krishna) is the highest intellect. Arjuna (pillion of a chariot) is self/consciousness of the body. Symbolically this explicates how a body of a human being is controlled by the sense organs and their desires found on the path of life journey. A wise man when he makes up his mind to control the sense organs decides to train the sense organs and make them realize what

they actually have to do. This execution of freedom from the mind is borrowed from a more rational aspect of the being called intellect. Intellect helps the mind to rationally go about realizing the truth. It is when man sees the death of external influence; he sees the body, mind and souls internal confluence! This is true awakening of the Arjuna in you! Let the bias towards Indian scriptures unveil and let the sense prevail!
