Climate Change is the most serious

problem we face in the 21st century.

Future generations are depending on us to do whatever we

can to turn things around. A group of over two thousand
scientists has concluded that global warming is beyond dispute,
and already changing our climate. The last 30 years have seen
the warmest surface temperatures in recorded history. Global
warming can be slowed, and stopped, with practical actions
that yield a cleaner, healthier atmosphere. Ultimately it is up to
each of us, as individuals and families, to take action to slow
down and eventually reverse global warming through everyday
awareness of our energy use and attention to ways we can
conserve electricity and minimize fossil fuel usage.
.

Significance
As said future generation will be most dependent on what
effects global warming will have on the Planet Earth, so one has
to be concerned about the awareness among the generation of
tomorrow. A major part of their domain of awareness is
increased by their teachers which is why the research aims at
finding out teachers level of knowledge or awareness towards
the origin and effects of this problem.

Objective
To increase the awareness among the school teachers (for
students)For the effects of global warming and how they can
contribute towards it deacceleration. The main reason behind
taking this sample group is beacuse they are the moulders of a
child.

A student needs to pay concerns towards these environmental

issues it is a teacher who can influence them. Because these
students are the base of tomorrow and for building a new
world.

Hypothesis
The students don’t have enough information from school about
the the problem of global warming .

Considered that teachers can play a very important role

towards imparting knowledge about the global warming to the
students. But this is not happening as their level of awareness
themselves is not enough and source of information for
students is newspaper, media which does not have everlasting
impacts on the child minds. Even a little information from
Teachers can help a lot to change a student mind.
Global Warming- A brief

The term Global Warming refers to the observation that the

atmosphere near the Earth's surface is warming. This warming
is one of many kinds of climate change that the Earth has gone
through in the past and will continue to go through in the
future. It is reasonable to expect that the Earth should warm as
the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere increases.
It is known for certain that atmospheric concentrations of
greenhouse gases are rising dramatically due to human
activity. It is less well known exactly how the increases in these
greenhouse gases factor in the observed changes of the Earth's
climate and global temperatures.

WHAT WORLD IS DOING ABOUT IT?

Scientist all over world is proposing ideas to save earth. Most
popular of them which were even broadcasted on BBC News
were:

1) Having giant glass sunshade in space which will deflect a

small percentage of sun rays back into the space

2) Fire hundreds of rockets loaded with tons of sulphur into

the stratosphere creating a vast, but very thin sunscreen
of sulphur around the earth.

3) Designing a fleet of remote-controlled yachts that will

pump fine particles of sea water into the clouds,
increasing the thickness of the clouds and reflecting the
suns rays.

4) Feed plankton with gallons of fertiliser, this will make the

plankton grow and absorb carbon dioxide from the air.

5) Having carbon dioxide capturing machine and his plan is

to locate more of them across the globe and they would
suck in carbon dioxide, turn it into a powder and he would
bury it deep under the ocean in disused oil or gas fields.
How much India is concerned about it?

Transportation accounts for high percent of global warming

pollution. It's time to dramatically improve our automobile fuel
efficiency, invest in mass transit, and promote smart growth.
Doing this will save consumers money and reduce our
dependence on oil.

But it has been seen that car demand in India is going up

drastically. Every year sales has been increasing. Every
company is now investing on India. And now cars of even
Rs1,00,000 is available which makes many people afford car
which means very high increase in sales .

Environmentalists say these new vehicles represent a massive

new threat to India's well-being that has not been fully
appreciated. They argue that rather than being lured by
transport policies of the West, India must continue to focus its
energies on public transport, which is not only less
environmentally damaging but is also much more affordable - a
key issue in a country where 300 million people live below the
poverty line.

It was confirmed yesterday that China had now overtaken the

US as the world's leading emitter of CO2. Meanwhile, India -
currently the world's fifth largest emitter of CO2 .Before
attending the recent G8 summit in Germany, the Indian Prime
Minister, Manmohan Singh, said: "Due care must be taken not
to allow growth and development prospects in the developing
world to be undermined or constrained ... More and not less
development is the best way for developing countries to
address themselves to the issue of preserving the environment
and protecting the climate."

India shows no signs of turning away from its new-found love

affair with cars. Indeed, the country's Transport minister, K H
Muniyappa, recently announced that plans for the completion
of the Golden Quadrilateral - a huge highway project that will
link the cities of Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Madras - were on
schedule for 2009
Himalayas

India and china have agreed to send an

expedition to the Himalayas to study the
impact that global warming is having on
glaciers there. Because melting glaciers
could threaten rivers which support the
lives of millions of people Sutlej and Brahmaputra. In short term
this could cause flooding as the river swell with melted ice. But
later if the glaciers Disappear , the rivers might too, for part of
each year.

Affected Area In India

Sunderbans

Climate change could eradicate villages in

the Sunder bans. The water brings life –
but here in the Sunder bans- the world’s
largest mangrove forest, the water are
also taking life away. As sea level rises-
partly as a response to climate change- two island have
vanished from the map.

Bengal

As water rise it is expected that they will

submerge the entire delta region, home to the
legendary Bengal Tiger.

Research methodology
Our methodology is based out of questionnaire will be base
upon.

The questionnaire consists of two parts:

1) For students

2) For teachers

For students our objective will be based upon whether students

understand about the problem. Whether they have enough
information about the problem? If not, then what is the source
of information about this problem? Is it internet, television, or
newspaper or teachers?

For teachers question will be about what teacher think about

the problem of global warming? We will create this question in
that ways which help us understand whether they have enough
information about the problem or not. Subject Teacher
analysed will be teaching science and geography subjects

This Question will be very indirect in both the set of

Questionnaire or opinionnaire. It is a research done
qualitatively analysing the facts and figures. It will be a
deliberate sampling consisting of two groups Student and
Teachers.
The research is important because other source of information
are intangible which subconsciously impact a child minds but a
Teacher is one who can have a tangible face to face interaction
which can have an everlasting impact on a child mind.
