Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Mens Ministry & Womens Ministry

I would like to participate in a Mens or Ladies Small Group provided it met at this time and on this day: (Indicate best time and day for you) I would prefer meetings would be monthly or weekly?

Thought for the Week

odium is an extremely active element found naturally only in combined form; it always links itself to another element. Chlorine, on the other hand, is the poisonous gas that gives bleach its offensive odor. When sodium and chlorine are combined, the result is sodium chloride--common table salt--the substance we use to preserve meat and bring out its flavor. Love and truth can be like sodium and chlorine. Love without truth is flighty, sometimes blind, willing to combine with various doctrines. On the other hand, truth by itself can be offensive, sometimes even poisonous. Spoken without love, it can turn people away from the gospel. When truth and love are combined in an individual or a church, however, then we have what Jesus called "the salt of the earth," and we're able to preserve and bring out the beauty of our faith.
-David H. Johnson.

Please list your name (I am committing to support this group by attending as often as possible) X

Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

Wednesday Prayer Meetings. 6:30 - 7:30. General discussion during the hour, discussing the church, prayer concerns, etc. The Pastor is present early from 5:30 - 6:30 for any who wish a private meeting with him for whatever their needs are: counseling, prayer, confession, etc. After the meeting, from 7:30 to 8:30, the Pastor is also available for private meetings. Attendance Goal of 100 for 2014. Our attendance was between 70 and 75 the past five Sundays. Help us reach a short-term goal to minister to 80 in February. Everyone try to bring at least one. This goal set by the church Session is entirely possible, but it will take a strong commitment on the part of every member of our congregation. Please see the Pastors Notes on the church website for suggestions from him on how to work toward this goal. Compassionate Hands. This program that benefits the homeless community of Lebanon continues to do good work here at New Hope. Call Alene or Lee Ann if you would like to help or the church at 444-7020. Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know is interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.

Mens and Womens Ministries Gauging Interest

New Hope is seeking to form a Womens Small Group based on the Cumberland Presbyterian Womens Ministry (CPWM). Our purpose will be to accept and share the love and joy of Jesus Christ through the ministry of women in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. We seek to do this as we pray, study God's Word, and reach out to others through mission, service, encouragement and fellowship. This goal will be accomplished through a diversity of ministries. The CPWM was once a vital part of New Hope and needs to be so again. Ladies, please let us know if you would be interested in this ministry and what time would be better for you by completing the tear-off portion of todays bulletin. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. - Proverbs 27:17 New Hope is seeking men interested in forming a vibrant Mens Ministry within the church. The Men's Ministry will be a time for men to come together for fellowship, support and building relationships as we go through our Christian journey. We will discuss ways to help those in need inside and outside our church, whether through handyman type projects or whatever needs may arise. We will become the focal planning team for events that the men organize such as the Mothers Day Brunch and Valentines banquet. Most importantly, through this ministry, we can build on having a better relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. Men, if you are interested in strengthening your walk with Christ, please let us know your level of interest in this ministry by signing the tear-off portion of todays bulletin.

Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

The 2014 Valentines Banquet will be held next Sunday, February 16th from 5-7 PM. We are having the banquet after Valentines Day so that our mission team going to Haiti (6th-14th) will be back and be able to join us. This has been a long standing tradition in the church and this years banquet will be the best yet. As in past years, we will be having Italian food served by the New Hope men, followed by ice cream sundaes! After dinner we always have entertainment for our adults and we will have a movie with popcorn for our children in the room where they have Children's Church. We invite everyone to come out and bring friends for a great time of food and fellowship. Please let the staff know if a nursery is needed. Haiti Mission Trip. Please be in prayer for four of our members, Alene Gibson, Lee Ann Crosslin, Savannah Curtis, and Bill Brown, who left Thursday at 6:15 AM on a work trip to Haiti. They will be returning at 10:15 PM, Friday, Feb. 14. The work group is led by Pat Driskell, a Cumberland Pastor. They will give us a report on their trip on March 2.
