Goals

assemblywithloadsapplied(seefigureonleft). Asthefigureontherightshows,agapexistsbetweenthepistonandbore(0.39mm). Ourgoalisto: Solvethemodelasiswithnointerfacetreatment(resultswillbenonphysical). Solvethemodelasecondtimeusinganappropriateinitialcontactoffsettoclosethe gap.

Conclusions
Notes: Theinitialsolutionverifiedthatrigidbodymotionwasoccurringwhenwe triedtoapplyaforcetopartswhichwereseparatedbyaninitialgap. Wewereabletodeterminethegapsizeusing2differentmethodsinorderto determinehowtoaddressthecontactproblem. Withthegapsizeverified,weinputaninitialoffsetatthecontact,effectively closingthegap.
