ary 4 and hosted a large quantity of events, such as horse cart racing and Professional Cowboy Association Rodeos. The show offers free admission and as well as a free shuttle service. The only fee is $10 for parking.

Not only does the farm show host a variety of indoor activities and events, but it also has a multitude of food vendors with a large variety of fresh and delicious food to choose and enjoy. One big farm show favorite is always the Dairyman As-

sociation milkshakes. These chocolate, vanilla, and mixed milkshakes are made with fresh dairy milk, which gives the milkshake the great taste that is very much enjoyed. Every year, a butter sculpture is carved and an abun-

dance of free samples of things such as ice cream to tasty dips and sauces are offered. This years butter sculpture is a tribute to the farm show milkshakes, which have been served for the last 60 years. Everywhere you go you will find any and all types of booths and stands that could appeal to everyones likes and hobbies. Senior Abby Baughman said her favorite part about the farm show was the food and the animals. When asked about her farm show experience, senior Amber Krause said, Ten out of tenwill go again! The show ended Jan 11. Next years show will open January 10, running until January 17.

CHS dances closer to rst mini-THON

arlisle High Schools mini-THON club has been continuing to work hard to plan an all-night dance marathon, which will be held on March 21. The mini-THON, which is new to the high school, is being planned by over 40 students on multiple committees in the mini-THON club. Different events, such as karaoke, dancing, and a Wingin It! performance will be occurring all throughout the night at Carlisle High School. I think some things that are similar to what we would do during spirit weeks like dodge-

ball and volleyball would be fun, said Amina Alagic, a sophomore interested in attending. The theme for the event is Blasting Off to a Cure, which has been voted and decided on by the entire mini-THON staff. It revolves around a space idea, and the McGowan building will be decorated according to this theme on the night of the event. The mini-THON will last from 7 pm to 7 am for students. However, the greater Carlisle community will also be able to participate between 7 and 11 pm. I think that its a great idea. If the event is promoted well, many alumni and now community members could

get involved, said CHS alumni Bridger Washington. The goal for the committee is to raise $8000 during the night for the Four Diamonds Fund. With the community actively involved, as well as the student body, they believe this can be reached. With different fundraising possibilities, such Stop the Bop and a Lip Singing Competition, the goal amount of money can easily be reached, said junior Justine Douglas, who is in charge of the mini-THON event this year. Over $1449.06 has already been raised through the stall day hosted by the mini-THON club members, with over $200 raised by physics teacher Rob-

From vampire energy to bouncy balls: the 57th annual CASAC science fair had it all

rom January 24 to 26, CASAC (Carlisle Area Science Advisory Committee) held the 57th annual science fair in the Swartz cafeteria and gymnasium. According to the CASD Science Fair webpage, the Science Fair, open to grades 4-12, is held to give students of the Carlisle Area School District and the South Middleton School District the opportunity to learn and share what theyve discovered in conducting a science project. Geo-Environmental teacher Kevin Spicer is one of the four Science Fair coaches. Spicer said that enrolling in the Science Fair allows a student to use a measure of his/ her own creativity in putting together a project that addresses a question or problem. In addition to the CASD students, the CASAC Science Fair is open to students from the South Middleton School District, Grace Baptist students, St. Patricks students and students who are

home-schooled and those who are enrolled in cyber school. [Every year] over 600 projects entered, and most of them are done by individuals, so around 600+ students participate annually across all three divisions, elementary, junior, and senior, said Spicer. All projects that are entered in to the Science Fair must meet Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) rules and guidelines, which are posted on the CASD website. If a student enters the science fair, they are able to win prizes. Seventh grade Life Science teacher Allison Thumma said, Students [had] the opportunity to earn first, second or third place ribbons or either an honorable mention or participation ribbon. Biology teacher and Head of the Science department Samantha Moyer said, The CASAC fair allows students grades 4-12 to participate so it encourages students from a very early age to become independent thinkers and explore the scientific method. The grand champion awards were announced on January 25.

Patrick Myers was announced the grand champion of the senior division, while Lamberton student Xenia Makosky was announced grand champion of the junior division. If its something you can find interesting, it just [makes

for] an interesting project, said grand champion Myers of what contestants choose to research and discover. Project topics this year included everything from vampire energy to the coefficient of restitution of bouncy balls.

Put an end to tragic endings, say teenagers

I
n the month of January, an armed 17 year old shot two of his peers at a public high school in Philadelphia, a seventh grader in New Mexico wounded two fellow students with a shotgun, and Purdue University saw one of its students killed by another. School shootings have ravaged the U.S. to the point that they are often not widely followed or terribly shocking news. When asked, most had not heard of at least two of the shootings previously mentioned. This is surprising, considering that some believe that the medias over-coverage of the events is what is causing them to become more frequent. They [the media] give a lot of attention to these shootings weeks after they happen. It opens the door to copycat killers, agreed New York senior Travis Phelan. If a person isnt in a stable state of mind, a lot of things can go wrong quickly, said Illinois student Mariah Christ. It is something that happens all the time and is publicized a lot. That makes it easier on the shooter to see how they can carry out the same tragedy! Its sad, but for an unstable person, its a way to get attention I suppose. Christ and Phelans distant locales demonstrate the fact that these problems exist at schools across the U.S. Schools nationwide are increasing seno one to talk to or anything and so they take it out on everybody in a school, said New Jersey senior Natalie Burke. [To] help curb the rise of school shootings I would say we need to learn to accept people more and see the signs and actually let people know in [one shooting I remember], the [gunman] told people [about his plans beforehand] and yet no one told a teacher or anything, Burke said. Students attention to those around seems to be a crucial aspect of a positive school environment. If there are students that are struggling with something difficult, we as a student body should lift them up in a time of sorrow. That prevents anything bad happening to that individual and decreases the risk of a discontent[ed] student going and doing something that endangers their fellow classmates, Christ said. As sociologist Katherine Newman and her team discovered, according to the Washington Post article The social roots of school shootings, many of those who have perpetrated the tragedies in the past werent loners. But they were oftenstruggling to fit in. As a peer, [to] be more welcoming and understanding and not always focusing on [oneself ] but also being there for other students [is crucial], Rombaut added. Feeling like people care about you and that you belong can make a big difference.

curity through police officers, metal detectors, and more locked doors. Many students have few worries about safety at their schools, although there are some concerns. My biggest concern is that [my high school]has an open campus and anyone can come into the buildings and fit in if they are in dress code, which is just khakis and a [high school brand] t-shirt. They are working on security measures now to eliminate that though, said Christ. In the end, many say it comes down to working to solve the deeper issues behind the problem. Bullying, mental health awareness and poor gun control laws are often viewed as origins that need to be repaired. I think children can at times be a lot more mean and unwelcomingwhich leads to bullying and eventually the snap, said Caroline Rombaut, a student of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Missouri. As a society we can maybe try to pay more attention to the well being of the child and not always go up to higher authorities to deal with the problem. A lot comes down to not only mental health awareness in general but also to the students of schools themselves. [The rise in shootings] is probably from bullyingkids have

In case you didnt know:

ccording to the website, T h e Tr e v o r Pr o j e c t . org, LGBT youth are more than four times more likely to commit suicide than their heterosexual peers. The LGBTQIAP (Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Pansexual) community has faced great oppression over the years, both by political bans and social stigma. In the more recent years, acceptance has increased, with the growing legality of same-sex marriages and general awareness. However, there is still a ways to go in means of total acceptance. Generalizations, stereotypes, degradation, and general homophobia are still holding back the LGBT cause, especially in

teens and young adults. While still facing hardship, the LGBT portion of the community is more recognized. However, so much is yet to be fully understood by the general public on all facets. The spectrum covers minorities in gender and sexuality. Besides heterosexual and homosexual, there is also asexual, someone who feels no sexual attraction to anyone of any gender, and pansexual,

someone who is indifferent to gender in sexual orientation. The majority of people are cisgendered (mentally belonging to their birth gender). Transgenders are people whose true gender does not match their biological one and may undergo means to have their biological gender changed. Intersex people have both male and female sexual organs. Agenders are people who do not feel they belong

to the male or female gender. Genderfluid people may choose to be male or female. The term queer is used by some as a blanket term for sexual and gender minorities. Because gender minorities receive less mainstream attention then sexual minorities, there is less knowledge and more of a social stigma surrounding people who fall into these groups. Early last November, Sasha Fleischman, an agendered high school senior in California, had his skirt set on fire by a teen while riding a public bus. Sasha, who prefers to use the term they instead of he or she, survived the attack with severe burns. While the ordeal raised awareness for the queer community, it is horrific and inexcusable. Sashas birth name is Luke, being born male. Noncisgendered people may choose

to go by a different name or gender pronoun (he, she, they) than the one they were born with. Its important to respect someones choice in this, and to call them whatever they prefer. Attacks and hatred are the result of hatred, homophobia and cissexism (discrimination of non-cisgendered people). This is based upon fear and hatred of the unknown. Raising awareness and acceptance of sexual and gender minorities will further the cause, and lessen violence and discrimination. The rising youth of today seems to growing more accepting in the way they see others. Eighteen US states, along with D.C. have legalized marriage equality. Soon it will be this generations turn to vote on equality laws, but now is when the decision can be made to welcome and accept LGBT spectrum peers.

here are multiple actors/actresses that are put into role model positions in that kids are looking up to them as they grow. The public is looking up to these role models, as they do drugs, act out, and go to rehab. I do not think these actors should not be considered role models and parents should teach their kids to look up to other, more responsible people. Consider the headline, Miley Cyrus VMAs Backing Bear Speaks Out: I Was Being Looked At As A Prop

Less Than Human. This article on the VMAs shares a guest named Hollis Jane who was a bear dancer during Mileys performance; she speaks out against the humiliation she experienced. On Facebook she wrote, We can all agree that right now all Miley Cyrus wants to do is make societys jaw drop. So whats more weird or freaky than having little people parading around in your show? She also states, I had never been in a performance where I was purely meant to be gawked or laughed at. I will never forget that performance because it is what forced me to draw

my personal line in the sand [...] I walked out of the Barclay Center shaking and crying. Miley isnt only humiliating herself; shes bringing others down with her. Former tv/movie child star Lindsay Lohan can often be found on the media hot spot, dealing with numerous issues with drugs and alcohol, followed by rehab stints. In an article on CNN, Lohans life and career was depicted as running off the rails, starting in her disastrous year of 2007 when she was twice convicted of drunken driving, once for cocaine use, made

three trips to rehab and served an 84-minute jail stay. Her arrests were totally irresponsible a stupid mistake, she said. Lindsay stays in denial about her alcoholic problems, but yet she knows rehab like the back of her hand. Ive been courtordered to do it six times, she said. I could write the book on rehab. Constantly sending me to rehab is pointless. The first few times I was court-ordered to rehab, it was like a joke, like killing time. According to the journal News of the World, Zac Efron

was sent to rehab for a cocaine addiction. Isnt it crazy to watch High School Musical now, knowing about his drug use? Efron went to rehab after his drug use spiraled out of control while filming the movie, Neighbors, in April, the website reported. The fame of these beautiful actor/actresses are grabbing Americas attention. Intentional or unintentional, their fans are definitely noticing the mistakes their heroes are making. The fame is getting to their heads in all different ways. I think they took the term YOLO, (You only live once) a little too literally

ts almost Valentines Day! Do you plan to sit around waiting for your secret Valentine again this year? Its time to get some courage. No more talking about waiting for the right person to come along: its time to step up! Asking someone to spend Valentines Day with you all depends on your approach. Not many people want the clich Will you be my Valentine? You could buy a selection of chocolates for your would-be Valentine. Perhaps this seems like its been done before but just wait. Before you walk up to them, say, I decided that youre far too attractive to be my Valentine. I demand you eat all these chocolates to fatten up and make me seem better when youre standing next to me. All jokes aside, there is a more professional approach. You

could buy flowers or something meaningful. As long as youre thoughtful and hard work was put into it, your gift will be completely undeniable. If you dont want to make anything, but you still want to be creative, maybe you could set up your Valentine to a secret date, and show up to surprise them. That would get a jaw-drop and it will be memorable to them. If you want to be frugal, another romantic idea is to find their locker during school and slip a note into it. It could say, Be at the Fowler vending machines at 1:15, and youll meet your Valentine. When opened, they will see you standing there. All tricks aside, you could just ask them to be yours. The worst that could happen is that they would say no, right? If not, Valentines Day is one of the best days to tell your friends you love them.

So fresh and so clean: Make these homemade facial remedies

magine youre at a spa, wrapped in seaweed with cucumbers on your sleepy eyes and avocado on your porous face. Due to the extravagant amount of money required for this well needed time to yourself, this experience might not exactly be the pampering that you need. A homemade facial can be the best thing to happen to you. Not only do you save a lot of money but you create wonderful remedies that smooth out and rejuvenate your delicate skin. Facials started from the basics of ones own kitchen, mixing ingredients found in refrigerators, cupboards, and pantries. Parent of a CHS senior Anette Stallings describes the useful resources. My mother was the queen of facial remedies, said Stallings. Every day she had a new ingredient to smear on my face. Water and baking soda was her best friend. First she would add the baking soda to a small bowl then gradually add the water until it formed into a paste. The paste did make my

When pimples show up at the most unexpected times, something natural can be the best way to eliminate the unwanted guest. Lemon is a wonderful ingredient that has natural acids to help discard the stubborn pimples overnight. If self-mixing ingredients is not your cup of tea, face treatments are sold in stores nearest to you. Stores such as Target, Wal-Mart, Giant and Shurfine contain aisles of beauty products made for all skin types, with prices ranging from $3 to $50. Oily, blemished, and dry skin is addressed with each product produced. Finding one that is right for you can be difficult, so here are some recommendations from fellow classmates. Senior Sydney Parmelee loves any product that will help make her skin fresh and clean. I use Clearasil twice a day, when I wake up and get ready for bed, said Parmelee. Facial home remedies and store brought cleansers will help anyone in a time of need. The kitchen ingredients help to naturally cleanse the residue from your face and store brought facials leaves a wonderfully sanitized feeling. Miss Peregrines brother, Caul, is the villain of the novel, as he is a madman and able to steal the abilities of the Peculiars. Release Date: Jan. 14, 2014. 3. City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra ClareThe Mortal Instruments series became No. 1 on the New York Times BestSellers Series List for eleven straight weeks in 2013, and it has been on the Best-Sellers Series List for two years. The film adaption of City of Bones was released in August 2013, and now, in 2014, the final installment is being released. In the last novel, Clary, Jace, and Simon must join forces once again to fight Clarys brother, who cannot be defeated by anything else. The three must journey to another world to find a solution, and the synopsis states that lives will be lost, love [will be] sacrificed, and the whole world [will be] changed. Release Date: May 27, 2014. 2. Landline by Rainbow RowellUnlike Eleanor & Park and Fangirl, Landline is a contemporary Adult novel, which is her first since Attachments (published in April 2011). Attachments was praised for its quirky office romance, which Publishers Weekly compared to Youve Got Mail, saying its [a] tale of missed connections. Landline, however, is different: Rowell taps into elements of magical realism. Set in Los Angeles, Georgie McCool is a writer for a television show. Her husband, Neal is visiting his family in Omaha for Christmas, and he wants Georgie to go with him, but she cannot because of her television show. Neal packs up his bags and takes the kids with him to Omaha, and Georgie fears that her marriage with Neal is over. Later that night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past, and she tries to fix her marriage before it starts. Release Date: Jul. 8, 2014. 1. Leaving Time by Jodi PicoultChurning out novels on a yearly basis, Picoult is a lean mean writing machine. Her latest novel, The Storyteller, focused on the issue of discrimination, and is set in the 1940s during the Holocaust and the present day. The Storyteller was praised for its conflict, and USAToday stated that [Picoult] has an enjoyable formula. Leaving Time is a departure from Picoults ordinary storytelling, focusing on a mystery between Alice, a mother, and her daughter, Jenna. Alice runs an elephant sanctuary, until she gets into a tragic accident where an animal caretaker dies and Alice disappears, leaving a three-year old Jenna as the only witness. Ten years later, Jenna uncovers new information through the help of a psychic and is able to convince the former detective in charge to open the case. According to the authors website, Picoult says that [Leaving Time] has a fabulous twist, [possibly] bigger than My Sisters Keeper. Release Date: Oct. 2014. Other authors releasing books in 2014 include Lauren Oliver, of Delirium and Before I Fall fame, and Ellen Hopkins, whose novels are often told in free-verse poetry. Olivers newest book, Panic, is coming out in March, while Hopkins next novel will be released at some point during this year. Jennifer E. Smith, author of The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight and This Is What Happy Looks Like, is releasing her third novel, The Geography of You and Me, in April.

ast year was been an incredible year for books. Kate Atkinsons Life After Life resonated with its readers, and The New York Times praised its combination of good writing and theatrical bravado. Rainbow Rowells debut Young Adult romance, Eleanor & Park, set in the 1980s, was named a 2013 Goodreads Choice Award for best YA Fiction. 2013 was also the year in which J.K. Rowling disguised herself as Robert Galbraith, and published The Cuckoos Calling, a mystery novel, which was quite a departure from the magical Harry Potter series. 2014, however, will be another fascinating year in the literary world, with the release of these books: 4. Hollow City by Ransom RiggsRiggs is well-known for Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children, a graphic novel that became a literary sensation back in 2011. John Green stated that [Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children] is tense, moving, and wondrously strange . . . Hollow City is the sequel, continuing in 1940, just after the first book ends. Jacob and his new friends flee from the Welsh island to London, which is the Peculiar capital of the world. While on the journey, they meet new allies, peculiar animals, and other surprises.

Enslaved:Odyssey to the West brings a great story to gaming

ith video games getting more and more popular, theyre beginning to take the movie approach. That is,making big budget games with mediocre stories. These games dominate the landscape and leave smaller games to the wayside. With the market being oversaturated with these mindless blockbusters, games like Enslaved: Odyssey to the West are that much more refreshing. Enslaved, released in 2010, was part of a new wave of games in which the story became more important

than gameplay. It tells the story of a man and woman (named Monkey and Trip) who are trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic Earth. What separates the duo apart from other on-screen pairings is that Monkey doesnt like Trip at all. In fact, the reason they are together is because of an ancient headband that she put on Monkey. This headband makes it so that if Trip dies, or Monkey doesnt follow her orders, the headband will explode and he will die. This makes for an interesting dynamic in that Monkey doesnt want to help Trip, but he must in order to survive. This dynamic is improved with

great writing that makes the characters feel real. The acting is made even better due to the use of Motion Capture performance. All of the characters are acted out using this technology which makes the game feel just like a movie. Now, even though the story is the most important part of the game, the actual gameplay is still fun. There is a mix of combat and platforming which is very enjoyable, and the characters all feel very responsive when you are controlling them. Despite how incredible the game is, most people dont know about it. The game came out around the same time that heavy-hitters like Call of

Duty: Black Ops and Halo: Reach came out. With such big games coming out, Enslaved fell to the wayside. Enslaved was originally released only on consoles, but this past December, it was finally released on the PC. One thing to note is that the game is better with a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse due to the free running elements of the game. A controller makes beating these parts much easier. With its cheap price on both consoles and PC, it is the perfect time to play the game. Enslaved: Odyssy to the West has my highest recommendation and is a game that everyone should play.

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is a great game that can purchased very cheaply at many retailers or online through services like Steam. Photo by Joey Kucker

histlestop Bookshop sells books new and old, magazines, CDs, bookmarks, and almost anything that a bookworm could imagine. Located on 129 West High Street, the bookstore opened in 1988. [I opened Whistlestop because] I loved selling books secondhand, owner Jeff Wood said. Wood has been doing this since high school. I opened the store by borrowing a small amount of money, Wood said. I applied my experience of managing an independent bookstore while in college. Whistlestop is a popular

venue for Carlisle residents. Its amazing that a local bookshop offers a wide variety of literature, and I go to the store frequently, CHS senior Julia Lello said. The bookstore has an authentic feel to its shoppers. When I was younger, I used to go to [their] Harry Potter midnight release parties and I always had a blast. Everyone would dress up as different characters, and they always brought the books out from a cupboard [that was] under the stairs, Lello said. Another asset that Whistlestop offers is that it sells honey and other honey-related products. The beekeeper, Tom Jones, is a friend of ours. Since I had been buying his honey for myself, he suggested that I carry it

in the store. [It adds] to our beekeeping and natural foods books, and to our shop local, buy local ethic, Wood said. Its amazing that a local bookshop offers a wide variety of literature.

The service and selection of Whistlestop is unique, with its selection being hand-picked. I carefully comb hundreds of publishers and distributors catalogs during the year, I read dozens of periodicals with reviews, and I attend trade shows that alert booksellers to forthcoming titles. Much sifting leads to my decisions about stock or letting customers know

about certain books and/or recommendations, Wood said. Nestled in downtown Carlisle, the bookstore has a distinct ambiance: there are many decorations and several sections devoted to each genre. [Whistlestop] is a really lovely space filled with carefully selected books and thoughtful conversation, Micala Hotra-Schubert, another CHS senior, said. Hotra-Schubert works at Whistlestop as well. I love working there. I love talking and learning about books and giving recommendations to customers. According to Wood, the most enjoyable aspect about Whistlestop is that I can put the right book in the right hands at the right time.

reaction from gamers. The launch titles werent perfect however, with Ryse: Son of Rome being panned by many gamers for being too repetitive and unoriginal. The consoles launched fairly smooth, but each had a few problems in the start. In the first few days that the PlayStation 4 was out, the consoles online service had server issues, with many gamers unable to download the systems day one update, which was needed for many of the systems functions. The servers were up within a few days however, and are now running at full capacity. The Xbox One servers launched very smoothly (which could be due to Microsofts networking experience with their Windows operating system), but there were multiple reports of consoles with a broken disc drive or the kinect not working properly. While hardware problems are typical for new devices, the amount of consoles affected was not known. Like the PlayStation, most of these problems were solved quickly after launch. Despite these problems, both consoles will make great new additions to the living room. With the power in both the hardware and software, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One have a long life ahead of them. If the last generation of consoles taught us anything, its that the console that ships at the beginning of the generation is nothing like the console at the end of a generation. The consoles are going to grow and adapt for a long time to come. With the promise that this generation shows already, one thing is certain: it doesnt matter which console you buy, its a great time to be a gamer.

The new consoles have launched: How do they fare?

ovember has come and gone, and brought with it the launch of not only one console, but two (the Xbox One and PlayStation 4). Both consoles have already gotten in to the hands of millions of happy gamers, and are on track to be sold out for a long time. According to both Microsoft (Xbox One) and Sony (PlayStation 4), each of their consoles have sold over 2 million units. Sony hopes to move even more consoles in February with the launch of their new game InFamous: Second Son and Microsoft plans to sell many consoles with the launch of their highly anticipated new game Titanfall. Speaking of games, both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched with a bevy of new games; some of them are great and others, not so much. PlayStation launched with many titles, but the two system exclusive titles (the reason to pick one system over another) were met with mixed reaction. While many enjoyed the new Killzone: Shadow Fall, the other game Knack was received very poorly, with most people finding it to be boring and forgettable. The Xbox One faired slightly better, with Forza Motorsport 5 and Dead Rising 3 garnering a lot of positive

veryones favorite news team is back, this time taking on the Big Apple and the controversial birth of the 24-hour news station. While I was questioning the sanity of my decision throughout the length of the movie, the $8 spent on Anchorman Two ended up being well worth it. It was totally random and completely outrageous, and occasionally even outraging, but Ron Burgundy and company delivered a collection of scenes any Will Ferrell fan can enjoy. I say collection of scenes because the plot line was as erratic as the first movie, but if a good plot is all youre looking for, you should spend your money elsewhere. When it comes down to it,
Both consoles have a select amount of disctinct advantages over each other. The Xbox has the Kinect, a very powerful new piece of hardware that changes the way we play games. The Playstation has a little extra power under the hood, so for exlusive titles, Playstation 4 games are going to look a little better than their Xbox counterparts. Photography: Joey Kucker

the characters are what really make the Anchorman movies special. Ron is everything you want him to be, delivering some of the movies most quotable lines. Brian and Champ are even quirkier than before (is that possible?), adding great depth to the casts interactions and playing a vital role in the infamous fight scene. And then theres Brick. Perhaps the movies most entertaining character, Brick has some truly unforgettable moments. Over the course of the film he comes back from the dead, travels to the future, loses his hearing (and his legs) and even gets a girlfriend! I wont even attempt to explain any of the new characters; Ill just let their actions do the talking. But in order for that to happen, I guess youll just have to go see the movie. to find out

These trending topics allow fans to become aware of breaking news before they could see it on television or elsewhere. When it comes to Twitter in the sports world, many college teams and professional teams have been skeptical about players using Twitter. Just as recently as November of last year, the New York Knicks JR Smith was fined $25,000 by the NBA for a tweet that used hostile and inappropriate language towards Detroit Pistons player Brandon Jennings. Twitter has captivated the sports world and continues to be a great source for fans and players alike to come together and share information with others. Although some players have gotten in trouble for tweeting, many still continue to tweet out their thoughts and actions. Many sports enthusiasts have come to use Twitter to allow them to connect with other sports fans, debate about certain sporting events, and possibly talk to a certain player directly. Whether youre sitting in front of the television, at the actual game, or out and about and not able to watch the game, checking Twitter will most likely give you an up to date recap of whats going on. Many sports fans have flocked to Twitter with the luxury of being able to stay up to date in the sports world with a simple click or a touch of a finger. uper Bowl XLVIII will feature a chilly showdown between the number one offense in the Denver Broncos and the number one defense in the Seattle Seahawks. The Super Bowl, a very prestigious event in the sports world, is being held in the Meadowlands, home to the New York Giants and the New York Jets. The Meadowlands is a newly built stadium and they have gotten a chance to showcase said stadium in the NFLs biggest game. The Denver Broncos, coming off a thrilling 26-16 win

over the New England Patriots, have assembled one of the best offenses that the NFL has ever seen. They are led by quarterback Peyton Manning, who set records for most touchdowns in a season (55) and also most yards thrown in a season (5,477.) Senior English teacher Michelle Disbrow is rooting for the Broncos to win. She thinks that [Peyton] Mannings drive to win and the way he has returned from what some thought to be a career-ending injury is incredible and they deserve to win. The Seattle Seahawks, who defeated the San Francisco 49ers 23-17, have boasted the NFLs best defense, only allow-

ing an average of 14.4 points a game while giving up an average of only 273 yards to offenses who can put up 350 yards plus every week. Sophomore DeVant Burke wants the Seahawks to win because they deserve it and they got robbed a few years ago when they played against the Steelers. According to a poll from chsperiscope.com, more CHS students are rooting for the Broncos then they are the Seahawks, 58% to 42%. Both teams have achieved a 13-3 record in the regular season. Super Bowl XLVIII will be held on Feb 2 at 6:30 PM on FOX.
