January 28, 2013 Lynn Courey and Mike Menu ********** Toronto, Ontario *** *** CANADA Dear Lynn Courey and Mike Menu: My name is Donell Young and I am the Senior Coordinator in the University of Missouris Office of Student Conduct. In that role, I have responsibilities for administering the Universitys student disciplinary procedures. I am writing to you to seek any information you might have concerning an incident described in a document on your daughter Sashas email account. I understand that you have made a records request for copies of the items in Sashas University email account. While reviewing those documents to remove information concerning other students based on the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, the Universitys custodian of records identified a document that Sasha emailed to herself on December 8, 2010. That document appears to be a copy of a transcript of an online chat with the National Sexual Assault Hotline and appears to include Sashas description of a sexual incident involving her and two men that occurred in February 2010. The document includes a statement that the two men were football players but doesnt otherwise include any information to identify them. In view of the possibility that the two men referenced in the document were University students, the Universitys custodian of records forwarded the document to me so I could attempt to determine whether any action could be taken to investigate the conduct involved. It is my understanding that the other documents in Sashas email account do not contain other information that would identify the two men. In addition, there does not appear to be any indication that Sasha shared information about this incident with anyone at the University or elsewhere. Statements in the document suggest she was at least considering discussing the incident with a therapist, but I do not have any additional information about that. At this point, I am not aware of any other information identifying the two men discussed in the document.

If you have any information that would help identify the two men, please feel free to share it with me. Further, in situations involving sexual incidents, my office gives great consideration to the wishes of the person reporting the incident as to whether an investigation should proceed.
