SOCIO SPIRITUAL IDEAS OF KAIVARATATAYYANAVARU (1726-1836)

India is a land of many special devotees like Sudhama, Shabhari, Prahalada etc. Karnataka is a land which has seen devotees like Purandaradasaru, Kanakadasaru, Bashweshvera etc. During the period of Krishnadevaraya the socio spiritual activities in Karnataka were highly appreciated even by foreigners. Philosophy and Shastharas where propagated and practiced richly in Karnataka. !fter the "akkasa tangadagi war #$%&%' the whole society became disorgani(ed. )o re establish the social values in Karnataka many saints like Kaivaratatayya took birth and reshaped the society by moral values time and again. *e can give e+ample of Sarvagnaya, ,i-ayadasaru, .opaldasaru etc. $/ th century is known for bhakti movement in south India. 0ollowing are the ma-or principles of the philosopher and poet )atayyanavaru1 $. )he belief of punar-anma 2. Service and sacrifice 3. 4oncept of sin and evil )here is a know saying 5! philosopher is one who gives new ideas on .eeta upanishat and Brhamasutras6. )o re establish the liberation of soul, the philosopher can take the help of "amayana, 7ahabharata, Bhagavata, ,ishnusahasranama etc. 8ur hero i.e. Kaivaratatayya took interest in the field9 undoubtedly he lived for common man and for the cause of humanism and welfare of the society. Kaivaratatyya had studied and applied through his teachings the essence of all :oly Scriptures in general and Bhagavadgeeta in particular. :e believed in karma yoga and worked for common people in various sections. 5;anatha ;anardhana 5, 57anava seva 7adhava seva6 are the basic principles of his teachings. )he life of )atayya was loosely attached and easily detachable to family or material life. :e, who shared pains of the common man, became a miracle. :e lived like a saint and served the society like a giant. :is ma-or contribution is in the field of Bhavishyavani #0uture Prediction' and Keertanas. Since Kaivara is a border town, the devotees are of both Kannada and )elugu languages. :e made many miracles like :ot ;agari, )irupatiyatra, "e living the bulls, eye donation to 7allayya, :eavy rain ,adigenhalli, flow of .anga water, Snake darshana to .osai, marriage of divine tree and many more.

IMPORTANT MERACALE *e have heard in ancient India, the scientific research scholar who have used there entire energy for the betterment of mankind. ,araha 7ihira, Bhaskara, Sushruta, Kanada, Koutilyya, Panini, etc<are , selfless intellectual treasuries of India. Science is invention technology is innovation, application of these two for the welfare of mankind is religion . By the advise of his well wishers, he went to )irupati and prayed for some days . 8ne day >ord ,enkateshwara graced a little vision in one eye. 7allayya prayed again and again but >ord came in his dream and told why do you waste your time here there is my devotee )atayya in your town go and serve him you will get full vision in both the eyes.. :e came back and offered trayers and submitted his feeling of total surrender . Kaiwar )atayya re?uested >ord ,enkateshwara on be half of 7allayya for his vision. !nd 7allayya got both eyes like earlier. >ord ,enkateshwara made his devotees tobe respected by society and there spiritual and devotional power should be spread throughout the society that will help to build a strong religious environment. I can ?uote here an e+ample of Sri .opaldasaru who donated his 2%@ of >ife tenure to his disciple Sri ;agannathdasaru, who became a great spiritual scholar and poet who is contemporary of )atayyagaru. In this way in Indian philosophy Bhakti,;nana and ,airagya are the tranguler essentials of liberation that is 7oksha. Karma means the service , here Kaiwar )atayya was champion of all these in his life of one century . :e had a direct hotline contact by his selfless devotion with Bhagwan. *e cannot belive that -ust around $%A years back there was a saint who survived for more than $$A years and he used his whole life with body min B intellect for the welfare of the devotees and dependents. Cow we are in the era of Blood Donation, Dye Donation, Kidney Donation, etc.. 4entauries back our people e+perimented it for the poor needy innocent people through their Eogic knowledge and energy . )atayyagaru is one of such social surgeon . Dven we can see his miraculous contribution in the filed of !griculture , animal husbandry and environment .)hese are all facts collected and documented by his devotees recently. But actually his miraculous are innumerable during British rule he was a ?uestion for science. )housands of devotees worshiped e+perienced graced even today.
