Today, Special Commissioner of Investigation Richard J. Condon released a statistical report detailing the number of complaints received and investigations conducted by his office (SCI) in !"#, involving employees, individuals, and companies associated $ith the %e$ &or' City (epartment of )ducation ((*)). In !"#, SCI processed a total of +,##, complaints, the most ever received by SCI in the history of the agency. In !"# SCI opened ./" investigations0 SCI completed 1#. investigations, the highest number in the history of the agency0 There $ere substantiated findings in #+2 of the investigations conducted0 SCI received ,33 complaints $hich included a se4ual component0 opened ## investigations involving those allegations, and made substantiated findings in +2 of the se4ual misconduct investigations conducted0 and SCI monitored /! investigations0 of those, "!+ became investigations conducted by SCI. 5onitor cases involve misconduct allegations made against (*) employees, $hich originally $ere referred to another agency, such as the %e$ &or' City 6olice (epartment. Se4ual misconduct allegations include criminal acts, inappropriate relationships $ith students $ho have reached the age of consent, physical and verbal harassment of a se4ual nature, and Social 5edia contact.
