Black bag COLLECTION Last week
Check back next week to see the total
amount collected from Last Sundays
Black Bag collection. The collection will
benefit St. Louise House. Its mission is to provide
a safe environment for homeless women and their
children so that they can heal the emotional,
physical, and spiritual wounds of homelessness and develop skills to
become self-sufficient and to secure stable housing. Families who
would otherwise be treated with neglect, harshness, or pity can
instead experience the values of respect, trust, and responsibility.
For more information, visit saintlouisehouse.org!
Would you like to volunteer with kids?
The UCC Childrens Religious Education
program has opportunities for students to
volunteer as Assistant Teachers and Childrens
Liturgy leaders on Sunday mornings. For more
information, please contact re@utcatholic.org!
The week of prayer for Christian unity
January 18-25, 2014. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
unites the whole Christian community throughout the world to
pray in communion wit the prayer of Jesus that they all may be
one (John 17:21).

This years theme and text: Has Christ Been Divided? 1 Corinthi-
ans 1:1-17. We continue to be divided by doctrine, polity, and
practice, and to maintain our own religious identity, yet our pil-
grimage towards unity continues under Gods guidance. Let us
read this text and consider St. Pauls provocative question.

A brand new year! Its a new semester here at
the UCC and the great news is we have a new
Longhorn football coach too!! A great big
Catholic welcome to Charlie Strong! I think
there is something for us to learn for our
wonderful passion for sports at this great
university.

If Christians had even one tenth of the zeal for spreading the Gospel
that Longhorn football fanatics have for their team, this world will
be set ablaze with the fire of Christs love. I am holding myself to
no less of a standard than our new coach and expect great things for
the University Catholic Center this semester and beyond. I know
all of us can join together to bring out the new evangelization here
on campus and bring Christ to the world, Longhorn style. We can
do this! We are Longhorn Catholics!!

And remember, my door is always open for anything you may
need.

To fresh beginnings and brand new starts! Heres to an amazing
2014! Praise God and Hook em Horns, yall! It will be a fantastic
semester.
