Understanding the Joints

It is easy to understand why joint conditions are so common when we realize that even the smallest activity engages numerous joints, both large and small. Even when we are seated, the least adjustment requires joint mobility. This incessant interplay of movement, compression and gravity creates stress on the joint, eventually affecting structure and function. Joint issues can arise at any age, depending on our activities. Dancers, athletes and sports enthusiasts are particularly prone to joint concerns even when quite young, while others may suffer work related or age related wear and tear.

The joint is a an intersection of two bones and is a complex structure composed of various tissues such as bone, muscle, synovium (the joint capsule), cartilage and ligaments. Cartilage is a type of thick connective tissue composed of specialized cells called chondrocytes. Although there are different types of cartilage, all produce a large amount of dense material composed of collagen, elastin and proteoglycan. These substances create the strength and elasticity of the joint. The three different types of cartilage differ in the relative amounts of these three tissues. The cartilage plays a critical role in mobility and protection for the bones that meet at the joints. Cartilage is also found in many places in the body including the rib cage, the ear, the nose, the bronchial tubes and the intervertebral discs. Unlike other connective tissues, cartilage does not contain blood vessels. The chondrocytes are fed by diffusion of fluids that occurs with the pumping action caused by movement and compression of the joint. Compared to other connective tissues, cartilage grows and repairs more slowly. Osteoarthritis is the breakdown and eventual loss of cartilage of the joints due to inflammation initiated by wear and tear. Osteoarthritis is indicated by stiffness and swelling around a joint that lasts longer than two weeks. Regenicare is a cutting edge formula that combines a powerful natural anti-inflammatory with a number of well-researched joint care ingredients.. RegeniCARE is formulated with Univeras patented compound, Protectin, shown in double-blind, placebo controlled, human clinical trials to dramatically improve joint comfort and mobility.

RegeniCARE helps protect joints in four important ways: Promotes joint comfort Helps lubricate joints Aids in regenerating and renewing cartilage Promotes flexibility and ease of movement Regenicare comes in single dose packets that is prepared by adding to at least six ounces of water. It is designed for maximum absorption.

Regenicare Ingredients
Protectin
Protectin is a patented botanical product composed of two plants, Scutellaria bacianlensis and Acacia catechu. It is an ingredient in a number of Univera products due to its well-researched antiinflammatory value. It has a safe yet potent ability to gently dial down the three major inflammatory pathways, and significant research supported benefits in aiding joint discomfort and mobility. Acacia catechu Reducing inflammation in the joint is critical to caccatCatccat preventing a spiral of deterioration, as echu ongoing activity maintains the inflammatory process. Reduced inflammation also allows the various joint repair ingredients to more effectively reach the joint tissues and play their valuable role.

Glucosamine is a combination of a protein and a sugar and is a substance that occurs naturally in the connective tissues, tendon and joint cartilage. Most, if not all, Scutellaria baicalensis scientific studies with glucosamine refer to glucosamine sulphate. When sold as a dietary supplement this is usually combined with chondroitin, which is also naturally present in cartilage. It has been suggested that glucosamine helps regenerate damaged cartilage as glucosamine, is needed to make the glycoproteins (proteoglycans) that are the building blocks of cartilage. Glucosamine also pulls water into the cartilage (to maintain the seventy percent water content of cartliage) producing a gel like sac providing cushioning and flexibility in the joint.

Glucosamine Sulfate

Glucosmaine sulphate is produced from a substance called Chitin, derived from crab, lobster or shrimp shells, although it can also be chemically synthesized. Those with shellfish allergies, unless it is very severe, should test a small amount of the product. Many find that it does not affect them. Many studies have concluded that glucosamine and/or chondroitin supplementation can improve joint mobility and may slow narrowing of joint spaces. Combining this with Protectin, MSM and CMO may powerfully accelerate results. It is important to allow at least two weeks to begin to notice improvements. Chondroitin sulfate

Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and is part of a large protein molecule (proteoglycan) that gives cartilage elasticity, providing much of its resistance to compression. Chondroitin sulfate is important in maintaining the structural integrity of the joint tissue. Chemically, it is composed of a chain of alternating sugars and sulphur molecules. Loss of chondroitin sulfate from the cartilage is regarded is a major cause of osteoarthritis. Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans have been shown to have a number of values in the body. Chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans regulate the growth and development of the nervous system, as well as nerve response to injury. Chondroitin is currently manufactured from animal sources (shark/beef cartilage or bovine trachea) or by synthetic means. It is very likely that the chondroitin in glucosamine comes from animal source. Vegetarians should be informed that Regenicare is not a vegetarian product. Multiple controlled clinical trials since the 1980s have examined the use of chondroitin in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee and other locations (spine, hips, finger joints). Most of these studies have reported significant benefits including reduced discomfort,

improved function and reduced medication requirements. The weight of scientific evidence points to a beneficial effect when chondroitin is used for six months to two years.

Cetyl Myristoleate

Cetyl Myristoleate is a fatty acid ester derived from a variety of plant and animal sources. Its main action in the joints is to decrease inflammation and reduce discomfort. A number of studies have indicated its value in joint conditions.

MSM

MSM is a naturally occurring molecule found in all plants and animals. MSM levels decline with age, leading to sulfur deficiency that impacts many different structures and functions in the body, as sulfur is a crucial element. The amount of research on MSM is small. In one study, patients that took MSM had significantly reduced joint discomfort and improved joint mobility without adverse effects.

Maxcell

Maxcell is a patent botanical product composed of four plants and unique to the Univera line of nutritional products. It has been shown to dramatically increase nutrient absorption, even in very small quantities. Maxcell has also been shown to stimulate cellular renewal, as well as amplifying the effects of other nutrients and enhancing immune activity.

Using Regenicare

Regenicare is not to be stirred in a cup but shaken well, as it contains seven grams of dried ingredients. Inadequate dilution and mixing can create problems in the stomach. If it is hard on the stomach, then use a larger amount of water and drink it over time, or use half a packet well diluted several times a day. Some people will find benefits from one packet daily, but for more severe problems, two to four packets should be used for the first month, which can then be decreased to one or two for ongoing use.
