Austin Dillon, a champion in both the NASCAR Nationwide
Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, will compete
full-time in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning in 2014 driv-
ing for Richard Childress Racing. Dillon joins Paul Menard, who will
drive the No. 27 Menards Chevrolet with crew chief Slugger
Labbe, and Ryan Newman, who will drive the No. 31 Caterpillar/
Quicken Loans/WIX Filters Chevrolet with crew chief Luke Lambert,
as full-time Sprint Cup Series drivers under the RCR banner in 2014.
The Welcome, N.C., organization has invested significant resources
in its competition and engineering departments to prepare for the
2014 season. Many of these changes were spearheaded by the addi-
tions of Dr. Eric Warren (director of competition) and Mark McCardle
(director of racing operations) to the organization, along with the
recent addition of Mike Coughlan (technical director).
Dillons program will be led by crew chief Gil Martin, a 13-year
veteran of the organization who led Kevin Harvick to six chase
berths. It also marks the highly anticipated return of the No. 3 to
Sprint Cup Series competition. Dow and General Mills Cheerios
brand will be the primary brands featured on the No. 3 Chevrolet SS
throughout the season. My grandfather and everyone at RCR have
done a great job of not pushing me too quickly into the NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series, said Dillon. I feel like Ive been able to spend
adequate time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the
NASCAR Nationwide Series preparing for this next step in my
career. I am thrilled to be making this move with partners like Dow
and Cheerios, along with some long-time partners who have sup-
ported me and RCR throughout my career. I am truly grateful and
looking forward to this opportunity.
The NASCAR Foundation is proud to announce Don Post, event
chairman of the March of Dimes Kansas City chapters Bikers for
Babies motorcycle ride, as the winner of the third annual Betty Jane
France Humanitarian Award. The NASCAR Foundation Chairwoman
Betty Jane France announced the winner during last weeks NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series Awards at Wynn Las Vegas the official coronation
of 2013 champion Jimmie Johnson. Don Post is a hero, pure and
simple, said The NASCAR Foundation Chairwoman Betty Jane
France. We have so much respect for his accomplishments in the
face of personal adversity along with his commitment to helping
children who face their own adversity. His story is inspiring, and truly
personifies what our award is all about. Not only are we honored to
present him the third annual Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award,
we are honored just to know him. In 1980, Posts life was forever
changed when he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis,
also known as ALS or Lou Gehrigs Disease, and was told he only
had three to five years to live. He retired from his professional job,
and despite the ALS diagnosis, he embarked on a 33-year mission of
donating his time and talent to charities in the Kansas City metro-
politan area. Post has served on boards of directors and executive
committees for a number of non-profit organizations and mentored
many young children diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. He has
been a member on the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies motor-
cycle ride committee for 12 years, and has been the events chairman
since 2010.
Garage Garble
As the first step under new ownership, Iowa Speedway last week
welcomed Jimmy Small, a rising talent within the industry, as its new
track president. Smalls appointment at the Iowa Events Center in
Des Moines comes on the heels of NASCARs announcement two
weeks ago that it purchased the Speedway. Small, 28, joins the
Speedway after six years with NASCAR in various business-building
capacities. Most recently, he served as senior manager for team mar-
keting services within the NASCAR Industry Services department
out of the Charlotte, N.C., office. In that role, he was the business and
marketing liaison with teams and drivers in all three national series.
The track currently is gearing up for its slate of three NASCAR race
weekends during the 2014 season. The Speedways season opens
May 17-18, with the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East versus West
Challenge on Saturday night followed by a 250-lap NASCAR
Nationwide Series race on Sunday. The weekend of July 11-12, Iowa
Speedway will host a Friday night NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series event and an IndyCar Series race on Saturday. A second
NASCAR K&N Pro Series East versus West Challenge race is sched-
uled for Friday, Aug. 1 followed by another 250-lap NASCAR
Nationwide Series event Saturday night. Iowa Speedway, a state-of-
the-art motorsports and entertainment facility, is located 30 miles east
of Des Moines at I-80 Exit 168 in Newton, Iowa. The track was
designed by NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace, now an anchor
and analyst for ESPN.
NASCAR Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Brian France has
announced the appointment of long-time auto industry executive
Brent Dewar as Chief Operating Officer of NASCAR to strengthen
its executive management team and accelerate a number of key
growth initiatives. Dewar begins at NASCAR on January 6, 2014.

Riverside Speedway brings back the winter Snow Enduro for 2013
on Sunday December 29. The Pre hangover 200 is 200 laps of high
impact, out of control racing with whatever Mother Nature brings to
the track. This race is always one of the most exciting events youll
see on an oval track anywhere- any time.
The American Canadian Tour will hold its 2013 Annual Banquet
of Champions on Saturday January 11 at the Double Tree Inn in
South Burlington. Champions of the American Canadian Tour and its
sister series Serie ACT will be honored.
The American Canadian Tour (ACT) released its 2014 schedule
which is highlighted by visits to nine (9) different Northeast tracks.
The schedule includes a total of twelve (12) events with nine (9)
Championship point counting events and three popular special
events on the calendar. The traditional event to open the 2014 cam-
paign on April 12-13 will once again be at the Lee USA Speedway in
Lee, New Hampshire. The ACT has been visiting the 1/3 mile oval
since Red and Judy MacDonald purchased the speed plant in 1987.
It is just one of those relationships that have endured throughout the
past 25 years. We tried to help Red and Judy when they first started,
and they have been there for us whenever we needed help over the
years. This kind of relationship, in this type of business, is generally
very rare, but greatly appreciated said Tom Curley, President of the
American Canadian Tour, which was established in 1986. The home
of the ACT, Thunder Road International Speedbowl will host its only
point counting event with the Merchants Bank 150 on opening week-
end April 26-27. Next up will be the historic Spring Green 114 to be
held at the Devils Bowl Speedway in Fair Haven, VT on Sunday,
May 4. This will be the fourth opening day Spring Green event at the
super fast mile oval. The teams will take a couple weeks off before
returning to action at what has become a favorite track of many ACT
teams, the Airborne Speedway. The first of two point counting events
will be held on Saturday, May 17 at the Plattsburgh, NY oval. The
final point event of the season, and second at Airborne, will be the
Fall Foliage 200 on Saturday, September 27. The month of June will
see two events in the Granite State. Riverside Speedway in Groveton
will hold a 150 lap race on Saturday, June 7. In one of the most
memorable events of 2013, winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from
Hudson, NH said, This bullring races unbelievably great. We had so
much fun racing last year. It was white knuckle and about as close
racing as you can have. I am excited about having Riverside on the
schedule again. A regular stop on the ACT Late Model Tour since
1998, the scenic White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) is
scheduled for an annual 150 lap event on Saturday, June 21. One of
New Englands premiere race tracks, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway
(BRMS), will again present an ACT event on Saturday, August 9. The
very competitive 1/3 mile seacoast Speedway has become one of the
most exciting events on the annual schedule for both teams and fans.
A different winner at every BRMS event for the ACT Late Models is
what the record book shows. The summer visit promises to produce
one of the best events of the year. Two weeks to re-group and off to
the only US-Canadian event of the year, the 5th annual CAN-AM 200
will take place at the Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste Croix, QC.
The scenic 5/8ths mile speedway sits next to the St Lawrence River
and always guarantees a competitive event as the best of the Serie
ACT and US teams square off for bragging rights. This event will
take place on Saturday, August 23. The US ACT competitors will also
compete throughout the summer race season at three ACT sanctioned
special non-point events. Three popular events will post combined
purses of over a quarter million dollars ($250,000.00). The
International at the Airborne Speedway will take place the weekend
of July 20. The best of all ACT teams from both the US and Canada
will be invited to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the
NASCAR Cup Chase weekend in September for the 6th annual Bond
Auto ACT Invitational. The 55th run for the Milk Bowl will be held
at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT and will close
out the 2014 season the weekend of October 4/5. Noticeably missing
from the 2014 schedule is the race at
