[Publisher: For years every astrologer has
observed that Omens during a reading or even before
and after a reading or in daily life is most essential
for predictions. Omens are not but the Universe
trying to communicate with humans as the Universe
always resides in a perfect state of past, present &
future merged consciousness. Unfortunately till date
astrologers have not concentrated in digging out
manuscripts on this science of Omens called as
Nimitta or Sakuna. Whatever is available in print
form or in articles is that of what one has read in
unauthentic work & no translations of manuscripts in
Nimitta is ever undertaken. This effort by Mr.
Raghavendra is to be applauded and especially
encouraged for the hard work that he has done and
yeomen service to the science without any
expectations monetary or any words of appreciation.
In last issue he came out with a Nimitta manuscript
& in this manuscript it is kind of a Omen/Nimitta &
more as a ‘Snap Shot Predictive Method’. One can
use propitiation of the Gods mentioned per result as
remedial measures to enhance the result. We have
tried to insert the original manuscript along with the
telegu script for further study by learned scholars &
to correct us if there is a mistake in translation.
Would request some of the readers to experiment
with this system, note down the results and give their
feedback. If India can create only 1 08 such
Raghavendra Rao’s some of the lost glory of Ancient
Indian Astrology will be revived. May the Rishis

Palm Leaf Manuscript on Sakuna Sastra
entitled “Nimitta Choodamani” available
in the Oriental Research Institute
Manuscript Library, Sri Venkateswara
University, Tirupati. Accession Number of the M anuscript is D-2353. Length of
Palm Leaf is 4 Inches, Width is 1 inch. Containing 33 leaves bundle, both sides engraved in
Telugu Script. Author of the work is Unknown. Each row in the edited text is written
separately on one side of palm leaf. Condition of the Palm is Brittle, Worm eaten and
broken. But the contents are completely available. (sri …sri…sri… three times indication of

Take a piece of Sandal Wood (2 inches length and 1/4th inch thickness) make it
like a dice as shown in the picture, it will have four long sides, Engrave 100 on one plane, 10
on another plane, 1 on another plane and 2 on the last plane. Name it as Sakuna/Omen
telling dice. Take it in both the hands close your eyes chant “Hari Hara Hiranyagarbha,
Lakshmi Devi, Sarasvathi Devi, Lord Ganapathi then think of your question and roll the
dice and note down all the number that stands out facing upward to you. Do this process 3 times and
thus you would get 3 sets of numbers. This set of 3 numbers thus arrived has an interpretation given

below. One can ascertain the good or bad Sakuna /omen, and outcome of the question in
mind”. Its name is Nitya Choodamani or Nimitta Choodamani. Previously Lord Sri

Trans lators Comments: One of my friends has suggested an alternative method of preparing
dices. He has taken four pieces of paper and written the numbers on the papers. He rolled
it. He put it three times and taken one each time and gave feedback that the results are
