Ng mihi nui ki a koutou Greetings to you all Very suddenly the end of term looms directly in front of us all and, for me, the end of my time at Morrinsville Intermediate School. My time with MIS has grown me as a teacher and a leader; and I leave with many fond memories and am much richer for the experience. I want to thank our board members for their enthusiasm, support and dedication to their governance role this year. In particular, Pete Li Calsi the BOT Chairman, who co -ordinates a great team of people for the better of the school. There is much excitement about the school painting which starts next week and as a BOT we have already achieved a number of our goals put in place. I wish to personally thank all the students for their enthusiasm and commitment to their learning throughout the year. To our Year 8 students enjoy your next learning journey it is an important time for you all. You have the foundations to succeed and to enjoy all that is offered to you. To our Year 7 students aim high and have a go! Our staff work tirelessly and passionately for the students and the school as a whole; we have an amazing team of people here at MIS. It is with a heavy heart we say farewell to a number of staff this year. As you are already aware we say good bye to Ruth Dainty, Terry Casey and Kat Neale. Kate Corrigan and Nicola Soffe have also resigned to take up part -time positions at other schools. Pat Whyte, Jimmy Heta, Louise Blackstock, Donnis Harrison, Lyndsay Oldham and Kimmie Te Wiata have come to the end of their fixed term contracts. The appointments committee have been busy working through the process to appoint new staff to start in 2014, and are pleased to advise the calibre of the applicants was extremely high and we are very excited about the new appointments. Starting in 2014 are: Lisa Metcalfe (Team Leader) Lisa is an experienced teacher currently at David Street School. Sharon Burman (Food Technology) Sharon is currently at Huntly Primary as a Food Technology specialist. Sally Oldfield and Keryn Vette (Classroom teachers) both Sally and Keryn have been teaching here this year. Denise McCarthy (Classroom Teacher) Denise comes to us from Evans Bay Intermediate in Wellington. Vicki Loynes (Classroom Teacher) Vicki has recently graduated for University and is very excited to have her first teaching position. Kate Barker (Classroom Teacher) Kate has also recently graduated from University and is initially here for a term until the Deputy Principal appointment is made. Charles Hume will remain in the Deputy Principal role until this process is complete next year. The sun is shining, the radio is blasting Christmas songs and the shops are going crazy so I wish you all a Merry Christmas and have a great holiday with your families. I look forward to catching up with people when out and about next year. Nku noa, Vicky Marshall Acting Principal
