Due to supernumerary admissions, their available number is determined by academic attainment.

4. Eligibility for Admission


Eligibility for Admission International applicants are defined as those who are non-Korean citizens and whose parents are both non-Korean citizens Remark Masters Program Applicants : An individual who has completed a fouryear-undergraduate program and holds a Bachelors degree Doctoral Program Applicants : An individual who has completed a four-year-undergraduate program and holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees

5. Requirements for Admission

5-1 General Requirements: Applicants should meet the general requirements5-1. A or B


A. Korean Proficiency: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements; (1) Applicants must hold TOPIK Level 4. (2) Have taken Korean language courses in Korea; either they plan to finish the Level 4 Korean Language course in the Korean Language and Culture Program (KLCP) at the University of Seoul, or they have already completed Level 4 or plan to finish Level 5 Korean Language courses at other universities (3) Applicants must have studied in an educational institution in Korea for more than 2 years (4) Applicants should be a graduate from an overseas Korean School. (5) Applicants should meet Korean language proficiency approved by Dean of Graduate School. B. English Proficiency: Applicants who apply to the departments below and satisfy one of the following officially recognized English proficiency test score requirements do NOT need to consider 5-1. A. Korean Proficiency.

C. Conditional Admission: Applicants who do not meet one of the general requirements concerning Korean language proficiency may be admitted conditionally. However they must satisfy one of the following requirements. Eligibilities for Conditional Admission

- Applicants should submit the certificates approving the following requirements; Applicants should major in Natural Science or Engineering Discipline including Physics and Chemical Nano Science and Technology engineering Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Nano Science and Technology. - Applicants should submit the certificates approving the following requirements; Architecture Applicants should meet more than two requirements of 5-1. A Applicants should submit a portfolio (in a free form) Environmental Engineering GeoInformatics Geolnformatics -Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Computer Science Energy Environmental System Engineering Computer Science. -Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Energy Environmental System Engineering. - Applicants should submit the certificates approving the following requirements; Applicants must have majored in Natural Science or Engineering Discipline including Physics and Nano Engineering Chemical engineering in their undergraduate or postgraduate schools. Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Nano Engineering. Disaster Science -Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Disaster Science. -Applicants must take an audition (See Attachment #1 for the details). Upon entrance, all the applicants Music should submit audition form 7. - Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of Environmental Engineering. -Applicants should submit a letter of recommendation from a prospective advisor of the department of

-Applicants should submit the certificates approving the following requirements; Environmental Sculpture Applicants should graduate from a 4 year college related to art. Applicants should submit a portfolio.(A3 size, in a free form) In-depth interview regarding portfolio.

* The departments that do NOT ask for the additional requirements consider only general requirements.

6. Admission Criteria
A. Documents Screening

B. Interview
All applicants should have an interview unless it is waived. 1) Date : 10:00 AM, December 3, 2013 (Tuesday) for Spring, 2014

10:00 AM, May 27, 2014 (Thursday) for Fall, 2014 2) Venue : Results will be notified on the admission website http://iphak.uos.ac.kr or http://kiice.uos.ac.kr 3) Process: Applicants are asked about their major as well as both Korean and English proficiency. * The interview may be carried out on the phone only if the applicants who are not currently in Korea do not have any types of Korean visa.

C. NOTICE
All applicants should arrive at least 20 minutes before the interview. If absent from the interview, admission is not considered. Applicants will be accepted for admission through a comprehensive evaluation process of scholastic ability, achievements and development potential based on the submitted documents and the interview.

7. Application Submission

C. Application Fee
a. The application fee is 80,000 KRW for all international applicants. b. Payment may be made by depositing to the IICE bank account as follows; - Name of Bank: Wooribank () - Account Number: 1005-701-258214 - Recipients Name: Institute of International Cooperation and Education

c. The application fee is non-refundable.

D. Required Documents
a. A white colored background photo (3X4cm) - Please write your name and major on the back of your photo b. Registration Card to which a color photo (3X4cm) is attached <Form 1> c. Application Form <Form 2> d. Personal Statement <Form 3> e. Study Plan <Form 4> f. Letter of Recommendation by a professor or teacher of the graduated school <Form 5> * Applicants must submit a sealed and signed envelope containing a letter of recommendation. g. Official transcripts and the certificates of (prospective) diplomas from the school(s) the applicants have attended * Graduation diplomas and official transcripts earned in China must be submitted with their Academic Certificates issued by the Ministry of Education of China (www.cdgdc.edu.cn, www.cis.or.kr). * If an applicant submits the certificates of prospective diplomas, the expected date of graduation must be specified. * If an applicant wants to satisfy the requirement5-1. A-(4), they should submit their elementary, middle and high school diplomas and transcripts confirmed by the Korean consul. * Doctoral program applicants are required to submit both undergraduate and graduate transcripts and diplomas. h. Statement of Financial Support <Form 6>

maintained for at least one month,

* The expiry date of Chinese balance account must be valid at the time of admission. (Should be expired after April th 30 , 2014 for Spring semester applicants and October 31th, 2014 for the Fall semester applicants) (2) certificate of remittance of funds corresponding to US$13,000 to Korea, and (3) certificate of money exchange corresponding to US$13,000 or all of (1) certificate of the applicants financial supporters bank deposit balance showing a minimum deposit balance of US$13,000 maintained for at least one month, (2) certificate of the financial supporters employment or a copy of his/her business proprietor registration, and (3) the financial supporters taxation certificate * The applicants financial supporter should be a person of the same nationality or a legal resident in Korea. * If the financial supporter is a member of applicants family, the applicant should submit the documents to prove it j. Copy of the applicants passport k. Copy of the applicants Alien Registration Card (if applicable) l. If the applicant has Chinese nationality, he or she should submit a copy of Certificate of Household accompanied by a notarized Korean or English translation and a copy of applicants parents passport(if not applicable, he or she should submit the certificate of relation If the applicant has non-Chinese nationality, he or she must submit a copy of the certificate of his or her parents nationality and a copy of the certificate of family relation

Official transcripts approving Korean/English Language Proficiency (if applicable) Applicants must submit the original copies of the TOPIK score and the Official reigned English proficient test (TOPIK, TOEIC, TOEFL, IELTS, TEPS, CET) n. * All documents must be the ORIGINALS. If applicants submit copies of the originals, they should be confirmed with the originals by the receptionist. All documents that are in a language other than English or Korean must be accompanied by a notarized Korean or English translation.

8. Scholarships for International Students


A. The masters and doctoral programs in the departments of Korean Language and Literature and Korean History, and the doctoral program in the departments or majors of Science and Engineering Discipline offer full-tuition scholarships. * The maximum number of recipients for the masters program in the departments of Korean Language and Literature and Korean History is limited to 5 respectively. B. The masters program of the departments of Korean Language and Literature and Korean History and the departments or majors of Science and Engineering Discipline offer half-tuition scholarships. C. The masters and doctoral programs in Human and Social Science Discipline offer full-tuition scholarships to maximum 10% of the international students who are recommended by the head of the department and approved by Dean of Graduate School and half-tuition scholarships to maximum 30% of the international students who are recommended by the head of the department and approved by Dean of Graduate School (Full-tuition scholarship

recipients are not eligible for a half-tuition scholarship). * Detailed Standards of Scholarship - Full- tuition : Doctoral applicants will be chosen over the master applicants but are selected strictly according to their scholastic rank - Half - tuition : Doctoral applicants who have not gotten a full- tuition scholarship and master applicants whose departments have a higher rate of applications. D. International students are subject to new eligibility criteria if the UOS scholarship policy changes. E. Recipients of the international students scholarships are also eligible to apply to other research scholarships available at the UOS. F. Recipients of extramural scholarships are not eligible for full-or half-tuition scholarships.

9. Important Notes
A. Applicants who hold double nationality are not regarded as international students. B. After issuing the Certificate of Admission, the accepted applicants should arrive at the UOS by the first day of entrance. Otherwise, admission will be invalidated. C. If it is found that an applicant is ineligible for application or that an applicant has made any misrepresentations or alterations to the submitted documents (including those submitted by proxy) or has perpetrated any other kind of fraud, then admission or enrollment may be denied or revoked. The tuition fees will not be refunded. Those whose admission or enrollment is denied or revoked for such a conduct may not reapply for admission to the university in the future. D. Any matters which are not specified in the admission guidelines will be pursuant to the decisions of the universitys Admissions Review Committee. E. All submitted documents and records in support of the admission will become the property of the university and will not be returned to the applicants. F. Information about the evaluation processes and scores will not be disclosed. G.
