Sharp crested weir will be used to highly accurate discharge measurement required.

We investigate for two apparatus rectangular notch and v-notch. Two crested weir comprise as following three steps such as fully contracted weir, fully width weirs and partially contracted weirs. A rectangular notch symmetrically located in vertical thin placed perpendicular to sides and bottom of straight. The discharge passing through a rectangular by : Qt = 2/3 B 2g H3/2

(1)

v notch sharp crested weir in vertical thin plate placed perpendicular to the sides and bottom of the straight channel. The v notch sharp crested weir is one of that suitable for a wide range of flow. The discharge passing through a v notch can measured by : Qt = 8/15 tan (/2) 2g H 5/2

(2)

When we calculate for the discharge,Q as well as the water level, H we can plotted a graph and do the linear regression analysis with respect to the logarithmic form as

log Q = n log H and log C

(3)

The slope the regression line is represented by n the variable by c can determined by obtaining the value at the point where the line intercepts y-axis when log H=0 C= 2/3 Cd b 2g

for rectangular notch for triangular v notch

(4) (5)

C = 8/15 Cd tan /2 2g

The coefficient discharge can determined by Cd = 3c / ( 2B 2g

for rectangular notch

(6) (7)

Cd = 15c / 8 tan /2 2g for triangular v notch

Where Qt = Theoretical discharge ( m3s-1) H = height above notch base (m) B = width of rectangular notch (m) = angle of the V for the triangular notch.

From all the data and we plotted the graph for rectangular notch. We get the width of rectangular notch, B is 8.0cm and height above the notch base, H is 3.0cm. The value of the gradient is 1.5279 and the y-intercept is 1.7362 which is equal to c. It can determined by equation (3) for linear graph. For a coefficient discharge we used equation (6) to calculate it. Others, to get the actual discharge Qa, we divide volume/time.

Lastly, we plotted the graph for triangular V notch. We get the width of triangular V notch, B is 8.0cm and height above the notch base, H is 12.2cm. The value of the gradient is 2.4025 and the y-intercept is 3.0149 which is equal to c. It can determined by equation (3) for linear graph. For a coefficient discharge we used equation (7) to calculate it. Others, to get the actual discharge Qa, we divide volume/time.

CONCLUSION As a conclusion, the coefficient of discharge for rectangular and triangular notch is 0.23 and 0.44 respectively.
