I would argue as a performer you go into tran e +efore and during your performan e. I tell them why I harge what I do and the ones who do a tually hire me are still my lients. <hen there used to +e lots of shows, IEd get alls from fol!s who had magi ians an el on them at the last minute and /ust lea$e them high&and&dry. )hey /ust got a +etter paying gig and left their ommitment in the dust. )hey donEt realiAe that not only do fol!s hear a+out it, +ut !arma does rear its head. I do help when I an in those situations, +ut I also ne$er hire a performer who does that. IE$e ne$er +ro!en a ontra t, and always try to o$er&deli$er. I do wor! for se$eral agen ies, +ut the ones I wor! with are fol!s who ha$e hired me for 20T years. )here is one who only sends me on the Kspe ialL gigs, where they really want to ma!e a good impression. I wish they send me out more, +ut oh well, they ha$e a +udget. I e.plained the +allroom to the lient and ad$ised her where they should set up the stage Jat the only well lit pla e in the room5 and the +est way to set up the ta+les so e$eryone an see. <hen I arri$ed to set&up, they had a =J who de ided that the stage was for him and had ta!en the entire front of the stage. #ot only ould I not set anything up there, +ut the ompany ouldnEt do announ ements and hand out priAes from there. I had to set up e.a tly opposite from the stage Jin front would ha$e +lo !ed 60 people from seeing anything5 and it was the dar!est part of the room. )he =J plugged my sound system into his, did a sound he !, and as soon as I started my show his system failed. It would ha$e ta!en too long to re onfigure my system to wor! on itEs own, so he spent the ne.t 6I minutes failing to get it wor!ing. I had to pro/e t, was down at floor le$el, and in a dar! area. )he show still wor!ed, +ut

it made it harder for me and people ouldnEt see as well as they should ha$e. )he =J truly thought that e$eryone was there to hear him F did not see the +ig pi ture and IEm sure he will ne$er +e hired again at least +y that ompany. My onta t there didnEt want any issues in front of her ompany Jand +oss5, so they ended up with an e$ent that ould ha$e +een so mu h +etter.
