The Lord continues to affirm our work in New Evangelization as FLiQ Medias Family and Life Update (www.familyandlifeupdate.com) and CFC Youth for Family and Life (www.cfcyfl.org) are finalists for the Best Website category at the 35th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA). The CMMA Night will be held on November 15, 2013 at the GSIS Theater. In 2012, CFC FFL garnered seven nominations and one award from the CMMA.
CFC FFL received the wonderful blessing of living out once again its commitment to serve the Church in the recently-concluded Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE). Our Servant General, Frank Padilla, was one of the speakers in the various workshops conducted at the PCNE. He gave a talk on the topic The New Evangelization: A Work of the Divine Family. On the other hand, almost fifty youth volunteers from CFC FFL served as lead facilitators in the youth catechesis held on the second day of the PCNE. Around 3,000 students from public schools and member-schools of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) participated in the catechetical sessions. The youth catechesis aimed to inspire the youth to renew their relationship with Jesus and to strengthen their commitment as Catholics.
It was a true privilege for our young Fulltime Pastoral Workers and Mission Volunteers from CFC SFL, YFL, KFL, Live Pure, FLiQ Media, and Work With the Poor to have been given this beautiful opportunity to serve the youth and the Church through the PCNE. They were able to share their own faith experiences and proclaim their faith to their fellow young Catholics. Through this event, the young Catholics were empowered to take on the challenge of proclaiming and sharing their faith and responding to the call of new evangelization. The PCNE, carrying the theme Behold, I make all things new!, was led by no less than the Archbishop of Manila, Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle. It was a gathering of the Filipino faithful to celebrate the faith and renew our missionary ardor. About 6,000 delegates participated in the spirit-filled event held last October 16 to 18, 2013 at the University of Santo Tomas.
Last October 25, 2013, our Servant General (SG), Frank Padilla, and his wife, Gerry Padilla, attended the XXI Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for the Family. As they personally met Pope Francis, Bro. Frank gave the Pontiff a copy of his latest book, The New Evangelization: A Work of the Divine Family. You too ought to get a copy of this very important resource book on New Evangelization. This and other books of the Servant General are available at the CFC FFL Shoppe.
CFC-FFL REELECTED
TO LAIKO BOARD
By the grace of the Lord, CFC FFL Apostolic Board member, Maribel Descallar, was reelected as Treasurer of the Sangguniang Laiko ng Pilipinas (LAIKO) last October 20, 2013. She will be serving LAIKO for two more years. LAIKO is the Secretariat of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines - Episcopal Commission on the Laity. Let us keep our Sis. Maribel in our prayers as she continues to serve our Mother Church through this body. Her reelection affirms us, as a community, of our call to do massive evangelization as we move forward to 2014, the Year of the Laity.
About 150,000 pilgrims from all over the world, including three hundred thirty CFC-FFL members from Europe, Canada and the U.S., joined the Pilgrimage of Families to the tomb of St. Peter in Rome, with no less than Pope Francis last October 26 and 27, 2013. At the end of the pilgrimage, CFC-FFL held an assembly at the Collegio Filippino which is home to Catholic Filipino clergy taking post-graduate studies in Rome. It was a blessing that Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Soc Villegas and Manila Archbishiop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle were present to join the community assembly and give messages of inspiration. Archbishop Soc shared about the qualities one should have to go to heaven. He said only three things are necessary: humility, humility and humility. Cardinal Tagle, on the other hand, talked about the kind of change that our country needs and this change can be accomplished, not simply through legislation, but through authentic Christian witnessing to our families and the people around us. Our Servant General, Bro. Frank Padilla, spoke on the importance of our active participation in the work of New Evangelization and how this work will demand from us to get out of our comfort zones.

Through the initiative of CFC Educational Foundation Inc (EFI), the Live Christ Share Christ (LCSC) formation program was conducted these past recent months for the teaching and non-teaching staff of the following schools in Metro Manila: Kamuning Elementary School, P. Bernardo Elementary School and Libis Elementary School. Last September 26 to 27, 2013, a strategic LCSC was given to all the Guidance Counselors of Quezon City Public Elementary Schools and High Schools. The counselors found it very helpful and many have signified interest to also have the LCSC in their respective schools.
an, including Fr. Ronnie Loreto, from the Family and Life Ministry of the Diocese of Balanga. The attendees also enjoyed the movie treat at the end of the session as they had the chance to watch a very inspiring pro-life movie, October Baby. Work for Life hopes to continue to bring the good news about life to other districts and provinces too.
CFC EFI, as a service provider of the Department of Educations Adopt-A-School program, conducts values formation sessions for parents, teaching and non-teaching school staff, and students of a particular school. The LCSC was offered as an initial engagement with the schools which hopefully may be sustained through the other programs of other CFC FFL ministries.
It was a Mission Sunday of beautiful wonders as over two hundred members of CFC Handmaids for Family and Life (CFC HFL) of Metro Manila gathered for the echo session of the World Handmaids Congress at the Marikina Hotel last October 20, 2013. The theme: Faith Works Wonders. My Heart, BE.LI.EV.E. became alive in the whole day program consisting of worship, talks, sharings, reflection, fellowship and the celebration of the Holy Mass. The session speakers included Irene Flores, Menchie Donato and HFL National Coordinator, Reena Murga. Almost a hundred servant-leaders of CFC HFL attended the retreat which was led by CFC FFL Spiritual Director, Fr. Francis Gustilo, SDB. It was a weekend of rich learning and reflection on the theme Little Women of Great Faith as the participants got to know and reflected on the faith experiences of selected characters from the Gospel of St. Mark. As the retreat concluded, the sisters are encouraged once again to be witnesses of faith themselves.
Students from the different private and public schools and members of CFC Kids for Family and Life (KFL) District of Manila did not let the seemingly bad weather stop them from attending the 15th Childrens Rosary Rally last October 12, 2013 at the Chapel of the Holy Family in Greenhills, San Juan. The Childrens Rosary Rally is an annual event organized by the Childrens Rosary Movement, Family Rosary Crusade, Ortigas and Company, and the CFC Foundation for Family and Life, through the CFC Educational Foundation, Inc (EFI) and KFL. Some of the schools present in this event were St. Paul College (Pasig), Kamuning Elementary School, and Lourdes School of Mandaluyong. About fifty KFL members from the District of Manila were also present. The children received catechism in the form of storytelling about the Immaculate Conception. This was followed by the Living Rosary, and the event concluded with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. Satellite Childrens Rosary Rallies were also conducted by the CFC Kids for Family and Life in the different districts in Metro Manila, in the provinces of Tarlac and Rizal, as well as in the countries of Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, and the U.S.A.
In a message given to the Live Pure Movement, Arielle Joyce Agbing, Student Council President of Bauan Technical High School, has this to say about their recently held Live Pure forum: ...This activity serves as an eye opener to everyone that although we are longing for love, we must have selfcontrol. We need to awaken our hearts and minds to some issues (i.e., teenage pregnancies etc.) so we could improve our lives as youth and shape our future for the better. The movement has been reaching greater heights this 2013, and it is driven to touch more hearts to share the good news of Chastity.
