A robot stood at the top of a mountain of debris and carcasses.

Its human biomimetic body was slightly burnt from the lower left of its midsection up to its left thigh. Beyond the machine lied an infinite stretch of ruins. A war had recently concluded. The mountain was the remains of what was a bioengineering research facility. A year ago, it started making the most advanced line of humanoid robots with the help of a sister laboratory. A month ago, anomalies arose about the the motives behind the creation of robots. A week ago, humanoid robots of unknown origin waged war against humans. Today, mankind had fallen. The robot on top of the mountain was one of the perpetrators. With great agility, the robot leaped from one side of the mountain to another, looking for something. It was turning a big chunk of a broken wall when a movement from the remnants of a building caught it's attention. At once, it fled to that area to investigate. Without regard to the dead bodies that it walked over, the robot searched for the origin of the movement. Suddenly, a small figure leaped from a window sill above it. A preteen boy holding a pointed rod went for the robots nape. He managed to land on its shoulder but he was immediately tossed away. Another figure came behind the robot. This time it was a teenage boy carrying an ax. The robot blocked his attack to its left and gripped his neck. It raised him until his head is on the same level as the robot's. "Human, why do you do this?" a mechanical feminine voice came from the robot. "Shouldn't I be the one asking that, you worthless piece of metal," the boy hit the robot's face with a pointed rod again and again but made no damage. He only let go of his weapon when the humanoid tightened its hold around his neck. "Aggh!," The boy started coughing. "Let my brother go!" The preteen boy limped towards the two. His right leg was wounded and his right shoulder was dislocated from being tossed earlier. He held the pointed rod towards the robot sheepishly. He made a few feet closer until he tripped over a rubble. It cost him a gash on his lips. The robot tossed the older boy towards the younger. 'RESOLVE: EXTERMINATE,' its OS made a decision. Its right hand transformed into some advanced firearm and aimed it at the boys. There was neither a visible light or powder nor an audible sound when the robot fired. With just two recoil motions, the boys were snatched away of life. The robot went back on searching on the mountain of debris and carcass but moments later, its OS triggered an alert message. DANGER! UNKNOWN INTELLIGENT BODIES PENETRATED THE FORM FACTOR The pointed rod was no rod at all but some special fast-injecting syringe. It contained nanomachines designed to disintegrate hard inorganic compounds. Just then, the OS made another message.

When it touched the exposed mechanism, the sensation that registered were soft and smooth. It seemed that there was another layer that protected the circuitry. There were no wires exposed except for the disconnected ones around its two cameras. Peculiarly, the camera's aperture shut automatically when the robot attempted to touch the moist lens. The features that were registering were not of any machine blueprint in its database. It needed visual inspection. However, the OS made another message. DANGER! UNKNOWN INTELLIGENT BODIES PENETRATED THE FORM FACTOR Quickly, the robot went over an abandoned car while pieces of its form factor fell. An organic-based layer beneath the form factor kept the inner circuitry from being harmed by the nanomachines. This robot was epigenetic which means it is aware that it's a robot. It was also aware of its supposed machine architecture. The humanoid plucked one of the car's side mirrors and looked at its reflection. When the robot was about to deduce what it really was, the OS messaged: DANGER! UNKNOWN INTELLIGENT BODIES PENThe robot let out a shriek and fell for the main chip at its nape was destroyed. This component was responsible for controlling all layers of robotic functions. Its form factor continued disintegrating all the way to its feet.

Not far from its face is the car's side mirror. On it was the reflection of the robot's face which resembled a human's.
