Consider each of the following legal issues. For each situation, explain whether or not the punishment is

answer the questions that follow.
A. John, a 16 year old with no prior records, was reading a text on his cell phone while driving, when
he ran a red light and totaled another car. The passenger of the other car was hospitalized in critical

condition and barely survived. As a result, Johns license was suspended for ten years and he was
sentenced to two hundred hours of community service.
