Notes on network connection:

Many network connection problems during set up can often be fixed by re-setting the router. After connecting the unit to the home network, quickly power off and/or connect the power cable of the home network router. Then power on and/or connect the power cable again. Depending on the internet service provider (ISP), the number of devices that can receive internet service may be limited by the applicable terms of service. For details, contact your ISP. Our company is not responsible for any malfunction of the unit and/or the internet connection feature due to communication errors/malfunctions associated with your broadband internet connection, or other connected equipment. Even if the unit is properly connected and configured, uploading a file may not operate properly because of internet congestion, the quality or bandwidth of your internet service, or problems at the provider of the content. Some internet connection operations may not be possible due to certain restrictions set by the Internet service provider (ISP) supplying your broadband Internet connection. Any fees charged by an ISP including, without limitation, connection charges are your responsibility. You must use a Router to use xDSL service. A DSL modem is required to use DSL service and a cable modem is required to use cable modem service. Depending on the access method and subscriber agreement with your ISP, you may not be able to use the internet connection feature contained in this unit or you may be limited to the number of devices you can connect at the same time. (If your ISP limits subscription to one device, this unit may not be allowed to connect when a PC is already connected.) The use of a Router may not be allowed or its usage may be limited depending on the policies and restrictions of your ISP. For details, contact your ISP directly. In the internet network that need browser approval, Wi-Fi service is limited.

Operation

Note ,,

32 Operation The wireless network operate at 2.4 GHz radio frequencies that are also used by other household devices such as cordless telephone, Bluetooth devices, microwave oven, and can be affected by interference from them. Turn off all unused network equipment in your local home network. Some devices may generate network traffic. For the purpose of the better transmission, place the unit from the access point as close as possible. In some instances, placing the access point or wireless router at least 0.45 m (1.5 ft.) above the floor may improve the reception.

Troubleshooting
Power
Symptom
The camcorder does not turn on.

Cause & Solution

The battery may not be installed in your camcorder. Insert the battery into the camcorder. The inserted battery may be discharged. Charge the battery or replace it with a charged one. If you use the AC power adapter, make sure it is properly connected to a wall outlet.

The power turns off automatically.

Is Auto Power Off set to [1 Min] or [5 Min]? If no button is pressed for about 1 minute or 5 minutes, the camcorder is automatically turned off [Auto Power Off ]. To disable this option, change the setting of [Auto Power Off ] to [Off ]. The battery is almost exhausted. Charge the battery or replace it with a charged one.

The battery discharges quickly.

The temperature is too low. The battery is not fully charged. Charge the battery again. The battery has reached the end of its life span and cannot be recharged. Use another battery.

4
Appendix

Display
Symptom
The TV screen or LCD display has distorted images or stripes at the top/bottom or on the left/right.

Cause & Solution

This can occur when recording or viewing a 16:9 ratio image on a 4:3 ratio TV. For more details, see the display specification.

Playback on other device (TV, etc.)

Symptom
The image appears distorted on a TV. You cannot view the image on or hear the sound from a TV connected using the HDMI cable.

Cause & Solution

This phenomenon is caused by connecting to a TV with 4:3 aspect ratio. The camcorder cannot output Images from the HDMI jack if the material is copyright protected.

42 Appendix

Recording
Symptom
Pressing the recording start/ stop button does not start recording. The actual recording time is less than the estimated recording time.

Cause & Solution

Set your camcorder to the recording mode. There is not enough free space to record on the storage media. Check if memory card is not inserted or write-protect tab is set to lock. There is no more free space for recording on the storage media. Back up important files on your PC and format the storage media or delete the unnecessary files. If you make recordings or delete files frequently, the performance of the storage media deteriorates. If this occurs, format the storage media again. If you use a memory card with low writing speed, the camcorder automatically stops recording videos and a corresponding message appears on the LCD screen.

The recording stops automatically.

The temperature is too low. The battery is not fully charged. Charge the battery again. The battery has reached the end of its lifespan and cannot be recharged. Use another battery.

4
Appendix You cannot record a photo image.

Set your camcorder to [

] mode (video camcorder mode).

Release the lock on the write-protection tab of the memory card if any. The storage media is full. Use a new memory card or format the storage media. Or remove unnecessary images.

You dont hear the beep sound.

Set [Beep] option to [On] in the [Settings] menu. The Beep sound is turned off temporarily when you record videos. When the mimi HDMI cable is connected to the camcorder, the Beep Sound is disabled temporarily.

There is a time difference between the point where you press the recording start/ stop button and the point where the recorded video starts/stops. Horizontal stripes appear on the images.

On your camcorder, there may be a slight time delay between the point where you press the recording start/stop button and the actual point where the recorded video starts/stops. This is not a malfunction.

This can occur when recording images under a fluorescent lamp, sodium lamp, or mercury lamp. This is not a malfunction.

Appendix 43

Storage Media
Symptom
Image cannot be deleted.

Cause & Solution

Release the lock on the write-protect tab of the memory card (SDHC/ SD memory card), if any. You cannot delete a protected images. Release protection of the image using the Protect function.

You cannot format the memory card.

Release the lock on the write-protect tab of the memory card (SDHC/ SD memory card), if any. The memory card is not supported on your camcorder or it has some problems.

Connecting to a computer
Symptom
Your computer does not recognize your camcorder. Cannot play back a video file properly on a PC.

Cause & Solution

Disconnect the USB cable from the computer and camcorder, restart the computer, and then connect the USB cable again correctly. You need a video codec to play back the file recorded on your camcorder. Install the software provided with your camcorder. Make sure you insert the connector in the correct orientation, and connect the USB cable to the micro USB jack on your camcorder firmly. Disconnect the cable from the computer and camcorder, restart the computer, and then connect the cable again properly. To play back an HD video file, you need a computer with better specifications. Use a computer with the recommended specifications.

4
Appendix

Your computer is not playing videos, images, or sound located on your camcorder properly.

Video playback or sound may stop temporarily depending on your computer. The video or sound copied to your computer is not affected. If your camcorder is connected to a computer that does not support Hi-speed USB (micro USB 2.0), the image or sound may not play back correctly. Images, video, and sound copied from the camcorder to your computer are not affected. Check the system requirements to play a video. Shut down all other applications currently running on the computer. If you play back a video on your camcorder when it is connected to a computer, the video may not play back smoothly on the computer, depending on the transfer speed. Please copy the file to your PC, and then play it back.

The playback screen is paused or distorted.
