Dover, NHs Wayne Helliwell, Jr. earned his 4th consecutive Ford Blue Oval Cup title after finishing 5th in the Fall Brawl at Riverside Speedway (Groveton, NH). Helliwell has now won the Ford title in each of its four seasons to date. The 2013 Ford Championship saw the closest battle ever heading into the final eligible race. Helliwell led by just one point over Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Polewarczyk was involved in an accident in the second half of the 200 lap event, which effectively ended his title hopes. Helliwell was leading late until fading back to 5th following the final caution flag on lap 196.
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. Captures 4th Ford Blue Oval Cup Title
The Ford Blue Oval Cup program awards ACT Late Model competitors who use Ford S347JR engines in competition on ACT, Serie ACT and at ACT-affliated tracks. Competitors earn money for top three finishes on the two tours and winning special events as well as a point fund for the season long standings. Helliwell used a total of three feature wins in his E-Keys 4 Cars Ford to earn the championship and the $2,000 point fund check. The point fund brings his 2013 total earnings from Ford to over $3,000. He was also the 2013 American Canadian Tour Champion.

A youngsters first hunt can mark the beginning of a lifelong passion for the outdoors and a commitment to wildlife conservation. There is no finer time to begin this journey than during Vermonts upcoming youth deer hunting weekend on November 9 and 10, the Saturday and Sunday before the rifle deer season opens. Vermonts special youth deer hunting weekend helps ensure that young hunters get the quality training and experiences they need for lifelong participation, said Fish & Wildlife Hunter Education Coordinator Chris Saunders. By design, the youth weekend hunt reinforces the route of initiation that is critical in recruitment -- learning through the family. Anyone, resident or nonresident, who is 15 years old or younger on the weekend of the hunt and who has successfully completed a hunter education course may purchase a hunting license and obtain a free youth deer hunting tag. The requirements apply to all interested young hunters, including the children of landowners. The young hunter must be accompanied by an unarmed adult over 18 years of age who holds a Vermont hunting license. The adult may accompany up to two young hunters. The law requires the adult to have direct control and supervision of the young hunters, including the ability to see and communicate without the aid of artificial devices such as radios or binoculars. Landowner permission is required in order to hunt on private land during the youth deer hunt weekend. The young hunter may take one deer of either sex. The antler restriction that applies for other Vermont deer seasons does not apply for youth deer hunting weekend. Violation of the youth deer hunting law can result in a doubled fine that is assessed against the adult who accompanies the youth. A 2007 survey showed that Vermonts youth hunting seasons for deer, turkey and waterfowl work. Current youth hunters, past youth hunters and their mentors were highly satisfied with their experiences, and this translated into an increased desire to hunt in the future. Perhaps most telling of all, the youth hunting weekend was the first hunting experience for 69 percent of all surveyed youth hunters. For more information about youth deer weekend, go to Vermont Fish and Wildlifes website Youth Hunting page: http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/hunttrap_youth.cfm Youth deer hunters who get a deer on youth deer hunting weekend can help Vermonts deer management program by reporting their deer at one of the biological check stations listed below that will be open from 9am to 7pm on November 9 and 10: Barre, R & L Archery; Eden Mills, Ingalls Market & Deli; Bakersfield, Bakersfield Village Market; Irasburg, Bobs Quick Stop; Jericho, General Store; Pittsford, Keiths Country Store; Pawlet, Machs General Store; Bennington, Martys Sports & Gunsmithing; North Hartland, Steves Bait Shop; Island Pond, Northern Wildlife; Danby, Otter Creek Campground; Hardwick, Riteway Sports; Swanton, St. Maries; Springfield, Fire Department; East Randolph, Middle Branch Market and Deli; Middlebury, Vermont Field Sports; Bradford, Bradford Bottle Shoppe; Newport, Wrights Sports; McIndoes Falls, Pauls Whistle Stop; Concord, Barnies Market; Stowe, Fly Rod Shop; Orwell, Buxtons Country Store; West Brattleboro, Paradise Farm Sugarhouse.

rifle, and muzzleloader seasons fall on relatively late dates this year. Youth weekend is November 9 10 and rifle season begins on November 16. Both seasons are beginning one weekend later than normal. Muzzleloader season begins on December 7. Vermonts November rifle deer hunting and youth weekend dates are set by law and revolve around Thanksgiving. Due to the late date for Thanksgiving this year, these deer seasons begin later than usual. Nearly two weeks will have elapsed between the close of archery season and

We have received calls from hunters who are confused about the dates, said Col. David LeCours, head of law enforcement for the Fish & Wildlife Department. Hunters should be sure they have the correct date before heading out. The Fish & Wildlife Department calendar, the law digest, and the department website all contain the correct dates and we encourage hunters to reference these materials. Mr. October and now Mr. November! The speed in Jimmie Johnsons No. 48 Chevrolet was positively jaw-dropping. Able to BREAKER pull away from his TIE pursuers with apparent ease, Johnson finished positions Indianapolis @ of Matt Houston 8:30 PM three ahead Kenseth in Sundays AAA Texas 500, breaking a tie for the lead in the Chase for the NASCAR SCORE _____________ SCORE _____________ Sprint Cup, but -- make no mistake -- Johnsons performance amounted to a brutal bludgeoning of Kenseth and the rest of the opposition. Kenseth hurt his own cause with a pit-road speeding penalty, but not even a perfect day on pit road likely would have overcome the dominance of the five-time champion, who led 255 of 334 laps en route to his third victory at Texas Motor Speedway, his sixth of the season and the 66th of his career. With two races left in the Chase, Johnson heads to next Sundays event at Phoenix with a seven-point lead over Kenseth, who rallied from the speeding penalty he incurred on Lap 173 to finish fourth. Similarly, Johnson left Texas last year with a seven-point lead over Brad Keselowski -- and lost the title. But the emphatic nature of Johnsons win on Sunday sent an unmistakable message. Despite the emphatic whipping he administered to the rest of the field, Johnson is anything but overconfident. Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran second, 4.390 seconds behind his Hendrick Motorsports teammate. Joey Logano came home third. Neither Earnhardt nor Logano, however, had a prayer of beating Johnson, and they knew it. The 48 was in another class, and nobody had anything for him, Earnhardt said. He was just super good all through practice and the race. Overall, we cant be disappointed with a thirdplace finish, Logano added. Just the 48 car was ridiculously fast. Johnson is the first backto-back winner of the fall race at Texas since the race became part of the Chase in 2005. Johnson also tied Carl Edwards for most NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victories at the 1.5-mile track. Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five. Kevin Harvick by virtue of an eighth place finish climbed to third in the series standings, but at 40 points behind Johnson and 33 behind Kenseth, it will take a miracle to put him back into the championship picture. The race was a disaster for Jeff Gordon, who entered the event third in the standings but blew a tire, hit the wall on Lap 74, finished 38th and fell out of contention for a possible fifth title. Gordon fell to sixth in points, 69 behind Johnson. Brad Keselowski dominated early and retook the lead late to win Saturdays OReilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. Keselowski led 106 of 200 laps in the 31st NASCAR Nationwide Series race of the season, propelling his No. 22 Penske Racing Ford to a decisive advantage in the owners standings. Passing runner-up Denny Hamlin with 14 laps left, Keselowski pulled away to win by .980 seconds. The victory was Keselowskis sixth of the season, his first at Texas and the 26th of his career. Four different drivers have combined to win 12 times in the No. 22 Ford. Penske teammate Sam Hornish Jr. recovered from a commitment violation (hitting the commitment cone on Lap 53) to finish third. Hornish trimmed two points off series leader and fifth-place finisher Austin Dillons advantage and trails by six points with two races left in the season. Matt Kenseth came home fourth, but Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch blew a right rear tire and crashed off Turn 4 on Lap 110. Busch finished
26th and saw the four-point advantage of his No. 54 Toyota entering the race turned to a 26-point deficit to the No. 22 in the battle for the owners championship. Keselowski will drive the car this weekend and Joey Logano in the NASCAR Nationwide season finale at Homestead. To Keselowski, the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide driver champion, securing the owners title for team owner Roger Penske is a piece of unfinished business. The victory also was redemption of sorts for Keselowskis last NASCAR Nationwide start, at Kansas, where he wrecked off Buschs front bumper during intense racing between the two drivers. I dug us a hole there at Kansas, obviously, with getting tangled up there, and we lost some points, Keselowski said. So its great to recover from that hole and grow a little bit of a lead, but two races is a long ways left, and (26) points is better than nothing, but its certainly not a guarantee of anything as well But its about Roger. Its about getting him something he hasnt done, and I take a lot of pride in that. Dominating the action from start to finish, Ty Dillon ran away with Friday nights WinStar World Casino 350 at Texas Motor Speedway, leading 130 of the 147 laps in the Camping World Truck Series race. The driver of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet pulled away from Johnny Sauter after taking the lead for the final time on Lap 117. Dillon was shuffled back to third after a restart on Lap 107 but overtook Ryan Blaney for the top spot 10 laps later. Sauter passed Blaney for the second spot on Lap 121, and Blaney subsequently faded to 15th at the finish. Ron Hornaday Jr. ran third, followed by Brendan Gaughan and Justin Lofton. I wasnt going to let this race get away from me, said Dillon, who rallied from a rough week at Martinsville, where he and Kevin Harvick wrecked during close racing and exchanged pointed barbs thereafter. Its happened too many times this year, and I was going to do whatever it takes. The victory was Dillons second of the season and the third of his career. He finished 2.663 seconds ahead of Sauter after holding a lead of more than three seconds during the closing laps. About the only anxious moment for Dillon had come on Lap 99, when the engine in Kyle Buschs No. 51 Toyota blew as Dillon ran right behind him. I didnt know if I was heading for the wall or what was going to happen, Dillon said. But, luckily, I dont think he put down too much oil, and I was just below him, just to keep from getting in it. Series leader Matt Crafton came home 10th and holds a 46-point edge over sixth-place finisher James Buescher and 47 points over Dillon with two races left in the season. Crafton can wrap up his first series title with finishes of 18th or better in the final two races. The victory was the 100th across all three of NASCARs top touring series for No. 3 vehicles fielded by Richard Childress Racing.
