ACTIVITY 1

1. Why is waste separated into different plastics always likely to be more valuable and more useful than waste which remains mixed ? The waste is reciclable if it separate into different group it is posible to recycle, but if they mix they can not use for nothing. 2. Why are dark plastics separated from clear plastics-eventrought they made from the same material? Because dark plastics will form part of other dark plastics and clear plastics will form part of others clear plastics. 3. Have a look at home at the plastics packaging materials in the kitchen or bathroom.Look for the code number stamped on inside the bottom. Made a table showing which plastics are used for which purposes .

4. Make a careful note of where two different plastics are used in the same tem e.g. for a lid and a container. Why are different types selected? Because each zone of a recipient needs differents plastics for each zone because it has defferent characteristics.

ACTIVITY 2
1. The density of polypropene is 0.91 g/cm3. The density of polystyrene is 1.05 g/cm3. What density would a liquid need to be to make sure that the polypropene floated and the polystyrene sank? I has to have less density the liquid in the tank float. 2. PET has a density of 0.35 g/cm3. What density would a liquid need to be if it was to separate PET from polysterene ? Must have less density to float. 3. Ease of separation of plastics materials is now vain taken into account at the design stage. What recommendations about the sink rules would you make? Put the in the apropiate container the differents things tos aparate for it recycle 4. Recycling makes a lot of sense , but only if the demand for recycled materials matches the supply. If demand is much less than the supply , what will happen to?... The price paid for the recycle material is expensive. There are less recycle material in storage. The cost of the process is bigger and the process is not rentable. 5. If there is a large difference between supply and demand , the amount of waste being collected will have to be reduced. What effect might this have on public opinion and on the wisdon of recycling ? it have not any use because it can not spend .the recycle will not be an alternative.

ACTIVITY 3
1. Summarise these porcesses in a flow diagram. Make sure that you distinguish between the different satages, and between the usefulness of the four end-products. Pyrolisis: plastics waste is meated in a vacuum producing a mixture of gaseous and liquid hydrocarbons not unlike. Hydrogenation: plastic waste is heated with hydrogen this broke the polymers into a liquid hydrocarbon.

2. What others factors do we need to take into account before we can now whether processes such as these are actually of benefict?

We have to take into account the type of plastics and the type of recycling we have to use , if the type of thing we need recycle is easy to find.
