HIGHLIGHTS ON PULISHED ISSUES OF THE YEMENI JOURNAL

OFAGRICULTURAL RESEARCHES AND STUDIES [1994 - 2002]

The first issue of the Yemeni Journal for Agricultural

Research and Studies appeared in 1994. But its regular publication
was only possible in the year 2000. Thereafter when the journal
appeared twice annually. This paper attempts to review and analyze
the journal's
published issues to identify general features of its
contents and authorship
using the seven journal issues so far
appeared as study sample. Content analysis approach was used with
appropriate descriptive statistics to analyze the data.
Results of study showed that the total number of subjects
published amounted 82 subjects in varied forms such as "research
articles", "studies and general articles", "book reviews", "theses
summaries", and the like. "Research papers" ranked first with 65%
of the total number of subjects. With regard to scientific disciplines
covered by the journal, it was found that "Plant Protection",
and
"Socio-economic sciences" ranked first with 22 subjects each. While
"animal production", and "Horticulture crops" ranked second with
Eight subjects each. "Crop Production",
and "Natural Resources"
ranked third with 7 subjects each. Remaining subjects have fallen
within other discipline categories with fewer numbers such as "Farm
mechanization",
"Food Research and Post Harvest Technology".
Total number of authors' names appeared in the seven issues
of the journal reached 78 names which is very close from total
number of published subjects. It was observed that only few names
have frequently appeared in more than one issue of journal whether
through single or collective authorship.
