Dear Friends,
My tomatoes will not grow. I’ve tried watering them
regularly while being careful not to overwater them. I’ve
double checked to make sure that there were no weeds
stealing nutrients. Still, I have only leaves… no fruit. As
I glanced out my window on this beautiful day with mild
temperatures, I should be happy; but the little plant was
a very sad scene. Obviously, I’m no green thumb.
Our Christian life can be like this. We can casually walk
through life praying only when we need something and
mildly attempting to avoid secularism and materialism
that stunt our growth. We can even stroll to church when
it fits into our schedule and there are no other competing
options. We can be all leaves but no fruit.
In 1 and 2 Thessalonians, Paul urged believers to dig
deeper. He says, “Live and please God more and more…
love one another more and more.” Let us not grow weary
of serving the Lord in all that He calls us to. Do right by
our neighbors and be good soil for God to do a mighty
work in you this day and every day.
