CMRC MX Pro National: 5th round, Gopher Dunes, ON, July 19th, 2009
After a 2 week break in the CMRC MX Pro National schedule Team KTM loaded up the race hauler and arrived in
Courtland, Ontario for the 5th round. The famous Gopher Dunes racetrack is arguably the roughest Motocross
sand track in the Country and it takes a total team effort to be successful. In the MX1 class, Royal Distributing
Thor KTM riders rode very well starting with Jeff Northop, who just missed taking both Holeshots on his factory
th
prepared KTM 450 SX-F taking 6 overall with his 5-7 moto scores. His teammate Mason Phillips (KTM 450 SX-
F) unfortunately had a bad crash in qualifying and was forced to the sidelines with an injury. The #43 of Ryan
Millar (KTM 450 SX-F) had a good result finishing with a 15th place overall.
In the MX2 class, the 2008 defending champion Eric Nye (KTM 250 SX-F) was eager to attack the deep rough
nd
sand and laid down the 2 fastest qualifying time. Nye got top 5 starts in both motos and methodically picked his
way through the pack getting around lappers enroute to a 2nd overall with 3-2 moto scores. Royal Distributing
Thor KTM rider, Kyle McGlynn (KTM 250 SX-F) made his Gopher Dunes debut. McGlynn showed he was in top
nd
shape and was running in 2 place for moto 1 until a slight get off allowed his competitors to move by. Not one to
give up Kyle motored his way back to 9th place in moto 1 and scored a 4th in moto two yielding another top 5
place overall.
RTR Performance / OMS KTM riders were all in attendance for the gopher Dunes National. MX2 contender
th
Kerim Fitz-Gerald rode a strong race and battled hard all day. He ended the day in 6 position overall with 4-9
moto results. MX1 RTR Performance / OMS / Troy Lee Designs team member Kornél Németh had fantastic
results despite 2 first turn crashes forcing him to ride to the front of the pack from dead last. Running a KTM 450
nd
SX-F the #108 rode the ultra rough Gopher track in his own unique style ending up 2 overall with 2-3 moto
scores. Teammate Liam O'Farrell had his best finish of the season placing his RTR Performance / OMS / Troy
Lee Designs KTM 450 SX-F in 4th place overall.

nd
place. To complete an orange podium, KTM riders Dylan Stelter and Craig Chikie took respectively the 2 and

CMA Hare Scramble Series: Round 5, Vienna, ON, July 19, 2009
th
Last weekend was the 5 round of the CMA Hare Scramble Series and KTM dealer Woody’s Cycles Micheal
nd
Jonker has a really good race. He was again really strong this weekend and crossed the finished line in 2
position.
Tommy Searle finished with 9-11 results and earned a 10th position overall. His teammate Wil Hahn had a bad
start in the first moto and a crash later on the first lap which put him in near dead last. Never giving up he moved
th th rd
forward in a remarkable climb up to 16 . In moto two, Hahn started 5 and held that position until the 3 lap where
he crashed. He wasn't able to finish the race.
Shock Doctor/KTM Factory rider Mike Lafferty continued his come back win streak at the eighth round of the
National Enduro Series when he took the win over his teammate Russell Bobbitt. The two KTM riders have battled
closely all year and after Lafferty's win this past weekend only 1 point separates them in the championship race.
Both riders have each won 4 rounds of the series which bodes will for the KTM team - as only KTM riders have won
every race of the series
