In this building compartmentalization is the fundamental basis and aim of passive for protection. The idea is to subdivide a structure into fire compartments, which may contain single or multiple rooms for the purpose of limiting the spread of fire, smoke and flue gases is order to enable the three goals of fire protection. 1. life safety 2. property protection 3. continuity of operations The construction of such compartment and all its components is a mother of systems within systems, which use listing and approval use and compliance to achieve fire resistance ratings, all interdependent, forming part of an overall fire safety plan. All components forming part of such a compartments are subject to stringent listing and approval use and compliance in countries where product certification is mandatory.

EXIT SIGN
Exit sign is the sign that is put over the emergency exit door. Its function is to notice people where the emergency exit way located. The design of the sign must to follow its standardization and to be approved by fire department. The standardization as the following: 1. The word exit must be in white colour while the background in green colour. 2. The width must be 22.5 cm while the length must be 40 cm.

Smoke Alarm System

Every building must have a smoke alarm. There are two types of smoke alarms that ionization alarms and optical alarms. However for this building,the optical alarms types of smoke alarms that are from models of alarms with 10 years battery as specified below. There are different types of models available that is: 1. Alarm with 10 years battery These are slightly more expensive but will save on the cost of replacing batteries. They are available as ionization or optical alarms and are fitter with a long life lithium battery or a sealed power pack that lasts for 10 years. 2. Standard battery alarms An ionization battery alarm is the cheapest and most basic smoke alarm available. An optical battery alarm is a little more expensive. Both run off 9 volt batteries which need to be test every week and replace once a year or when it beeps regularly, whichever is sooner. 3. Hush or silence button These models are available with a hush button and when pressed silences the alarm for a short time. For example, this functionally may be used when cooking. If there is a real fire, giving off lots of smoke, the hush system is overridden and the warning alarm sounds. 4. Main-powered Alarm These alarm are powered by the hotel electricity supply and needed to be installed by qualified electricians. 5. Battery Alarm with Emergency light If the alarm goes off the emergency light alerts people with hearing difficulties. 6. Main-Powered Alarm with Strobbed Light and Vibrating Pad These alarm are designed for people who are deaf or have hearing difficulties. If there are fire, you will be alerted instantly by the smoke alarm flashing light or vibrating pad under the bed. 7. Mains-Powered Alarm which Plugs into a Light Socket This alarm is rechargeable battery which charges up when the light is switched on. It lasts for 10 years and can be silenced or tested by the light switch.

ADVANTAGES:
1. Alert the danger of fire. 2. Give precious time for people to escape.

DISADVANTAGES:
1. The cost are expensive especially for ionization type of detectors. 2. Needed to be maintained to make sure the Alarm is still working. 3. The alarm could be in the wrong place. 4. There might be not enough smoke alarms for the large space area .

from the first stage. People in this building need to learn the way of how fire extinguisher is used so that they can get ready whenever there are fire arises. The pipes conveying water to hose reels must comply with the requirements of the Water Byelaws for pipes carrying cold water for ordinary domestic use. In particular steel or iron pipe will not be permitted unless it is lined internally with an approved material.

Use of Hose Reels

The Fire Service would much prefer that hose reels should be used as much as possible for ordinary purposes such as washing vehicles, floors, etc. The people working in the building will then be familiar with their use and will notice if they are not in working order. (A notice should be fixed on each hose reel asking that any defects should be reported and saying to whom). The Water Authority have no objection to the hose reels being used in this way provided that the hose reels are paid for at the usual charge for a hose pipe or are metered. Provided the meters are of the correct size there is no objection to the supply to hose reels being metered.

Sprinkler system are widely used in a building. It is installed at the ceiling and when the heat arise the sprinkler will activate by spraying water. It helps to stop the fire from spreading. For this hotel, we proposed Grinnel-type quatzoid sprinkler. This sprinkler will be installed to every room of the hotel to reduce the risk of dying. Sprinkler system it must be in conjunction with alongside a smoke alarm. The smoke alarm will alert you to slow-burning, smokegenerating fires which may not generate enough heat to trigger the sprinkler.

ADVANTAGES
1. Can be fitted as many rooms as you want them to be. 2. They are individually heat-activated, so the whole system doesnt go off at once. 3. They operate automatically, whether you are at home or not. 4. Suitable for older people and people who have difficulty moving around.

DISADVANTAGES
1. It makes the electrical material to be damaged. 2. The water can conduct electricity back to you. 3. High cost is needed 4. Can be used only once.
