General Information
Before completing the form, please read the “aces Guidelines 2009/2010”, especially section 1 on the
eligibility criteria of participants/schools, countries, partnerships and theme of the call as well as the evalu-
ation criteria! Although it does not directly affect the project’s assessment, a combination of partner schools
from EU- and non-EU countries is particularly welcomed.
The project idea and implementation structures should be developed together by all partners. Please keep
in mind that the project idea should be of interest for all involved partners, that it should be student-oriented
and that the application should have the support of the school administration of all partners.
Complete and submit only one “joint” application form per partnership project proposal (applicant school).
The application must be typewritten and in English!

PARTNERSHIP PROJECT CONTENT
The overall theme of the 2009 project competition is “Have your say! Young Europeans shape their
future” and refers to participation and moral courage as two of the pillars on which our democratic society
is based (see Guidelines 2009 and www.aces.or.at/projectcontest for more).
The submitted project proposal has to refer to this theme aiming also at the enhancement of the internation-
al co-operation amongst young people and at the further development of educational approaches in doing
so.

2. Project description:
2a. Please give a brief and clear description of your project idea including the chosen specific focus (!)
within the overall theme of the call. Also indicate how it is related to the pupils living context and interests.

2a. Project idea and specific focus:


In this project, we are interested in how active students are at ESIC Kranj, Economics Trade School
(ETS) and Administrative Bureau Technical School from Nis (ABS from Nis), in the field of active citizen-
ship. We will study what students already know about active citizenship, as well as their current relation-
ship to active citizenship, how to carry out active citizenship and within which organizations they do these
acitivites. We will focus on the soundness of the nutrition of students at both schools, in order to analyze
the organization of care for healthy eating in the studied areas, as well as how they can influence other
students through active citizenship into a healthier and more nutritional lifestyle. We will also try to de-
termine how students with these activities, can contribute to reducing the use of illegal drugs in their area.

2b. Project aims:


-to determine what students already know about active citizenship at ETS Kranj and ABS Niš.
- to identify social, economic, political, health and nutritional problems of young people at ETS and ABS.
- to learn about the organization and possibility how the students of both schools could solve the above
mentioned problems.
- to find out how healthy the diet of students of both participating schools is.
- to consider the area of consumer protection for healthy eating for young people in Slovenia and Serbia
- to find the capacity / within these organizations/ to improve the health of young people.

2c. Expected project outcomes/products:


Improving knowledge on active citizenship through the study of theory and practical research.
- Surveying the knowledge of active citizenship among students from ETS Kranj and ABS Nis.
- Posters, power point presentations, web pages, on the understanding of active citizenship among stu-
dents.
- News articles, radio and television contributions on the findings of the characteristics of active citizen-
ship at both schools.
- Identification of the organizations in the narrow and broader environment, allowing students to exercise
the active citizenship from the sociological, economic, political and health point of view.
- Quiz on active citizenship among students from ETS Kranj and the students from ABS Nis.
- To be present in the student community of students from Kranj and Nis and analyse these events.
- Interviews with experts in nutrition, dependence on illegal drugs and discussing the characteristics of
this phenomenon and the ways to solve them with the active role of students.
- Posters, power point presentations, web sites of organizations that allow the exercise of active citizen-
ship to students from ETS Kranj and ABS Nis.
- Discussion on the understanding of active citizenship, and their actions in the context of active citizen-
ship and the institutions, which exercise active citizenship.
- Improving knowledge on consumer rights and the organizations in charge of consumer rights.
- Analysis of food stores in Kranj and Nis regarding healthy nutrition for young people.
- The survey of healthy and unhealthy diet of students of both schools.
- The conversation between the students of both schools on healthy and unhealthy diet.

- Quiz on healthy and unhealthy diet of students from the ETS Kranj and ABS Nis.
- Posters, web pages and power point presentations on healthy and unhealthy diet.
- Getting to know the ways of influencing consumer organizations for a more healthy diet of students of
both schools.
- Identifying the ways to influence students through the appropriate organizations for a more healthy diet.
- Media messages, eg. newspaper, radio, local television about the participants in the project, its activities
and results.

PARTNERSHIP PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION
The answers to the following questions should give an overview on how the partners intend to organise and
implement the project. Please give short, concise replies (also catchwords), keeping in mind the organisa-
tional and practical feasibility of the activities for all the partners.

All project activities have to be carried out between September 2009 and March 2010.

3a. How do you want to realise and implement your project idea?
(Applied methods and work settings...; what creative, innovative ways of implementation, etc.)
In our project we used the following methods: interviewing, observing, analysing documents, interview,
photography, video recording with video camera, the publication of the mass media eg. newspaper, radio,
television, solving quizzes.

The results of the project will be published on the websites, we will present them with the help of Power point
presentations and posters.

Intention of the project implementation and project results will be published in the local media: daily, weekly
newspapers, on radio, local TV, etc.

3b. Activity Plan


Summarise which different activities will be carried out during the whole project (work on …, transnational
mobility etc.) and point out the involvement of partners, respectively where activities will take place.

web pages on events related to active citizenship at both
schools.

Informing the local media about these events and the


presentation of these results in the media.

The study of organizations in the narrow and broader


environment, allowing students the exercise of citizen-
ship in the sociological, health, economic and political
terms.

Assembling and solving a quiz on active citizenship
among students from ETS Kranj and ABS Nis.

The following events will be organised during the visit at


ABS Nis:

- Visit a meeting student community ABS Nis by students


from ETS Kranj and analysis of this event.

- Presentation of cooperation from the ABS Nis and


advice for young people by the health service about
health, The fashion and beauty school, Nutrition and
chemistryl school, Medical school, Grammar school
regarding active citizenship.

- Interview students from ETS Kranj and ABS Nis with


experts on the topic: eating disorders, for example
anorexia, obesity, poor diet, the consumption of energy
drinks, etc. and how to solve these problems.

- Overall view of some large food stores in Nis and


analysis about how much healthy food they offer.
At visiting the ETS in Kranj by the ABS Niš the follow-
ing events will be organised:

- Visiting a meeting of student community ETS Kranj by


students from ABS Nis and analysing this event.

- Overview of cooperation ETS Kranj, and the Center for


treatment and prevention of dependence on illegal drugs

- Interview students from ETS Kranj and ABS Niš with


experts on the topic: the consumption of illegal drugs
among students and what the students can do to reduce
the use of these drugs.

- Overall view of some large food stores in Kranj, and


finding out how many healthy food options there are

- Manufacturing of posters, power point presentations,


web sites of organizations that allow the exercise of
active citizenship in Kranj and Nis
Examination of documents for consumers on the provi-
sion of more healthy food for the young.

Presenting questionaires, solving, treatment and dis-


play results about healthy or unhealthy diet of students
from ETS Kranj and ABS Nis.
Discussion among students of both schools through
the computer about their healthy or unhealthy diet.

Assembling and solving a quiz on healthy and un-


healthy diet of students at both schools.

measures for healthy eating for young people.

The results of the project will be presented to public


through the mass media, distribution of publicity mater-
ial, presenting the project at a video conference

7. How does the project ensure the active involvement of the students in the planning and imple-
mentation of the project?
Students will plan the framework of activities with the help of a rough project plan made by project mentors from
Croatia and Serbia There they will also determine the dates of the project activities, the contents of the the
activities and the performers of the project. In addition, all activities will be also planned on the basis of the frame
plan: who will provide an activity, what objectives will be achieved with certain activities, what resources will be
needed, which activities will be implemented to achieve the goals, when will we implement the planned activities.
The planned activities will be conducted after the detailed plans.

8. Which (common) working language or languages will be used to communicate with the partners?
Please indicate: The project will use the Slovenian and Serbian language.

9. How do you intend to evaluate the progress of the project and final results?
During the course of the project the tutors will direct the course of the project plan. The deviation from the plan
will be identified appropriately corrected. At the end of the project, we will do analysis about the extent to which
we have achieved the purpose and objectives of the project. If the targets are not achieved, we will analyse why
we have not achieved the objectives.
