forest changes on the way, nice little town, different ethnic groups take boat on Ma Nam Tok to Chiang Rai or make trip into the mountains to Chinese village and tea plantations (Mae Salon) nice little university town nice like park, close to Laos border, has plant from time of dinosaurs, well organized nice town, lots of tourist infra-structure typical things to do: cooking class, massage, beautiful temple up on mountain close to Chiang Mai, founded by Lek, Elephant Nature park, can bath them, animals are not forced to perform for tourists plan day for Grand Palace and Wat Po

If you have more time, or leave out some of the above destinations, head from Bkk via train to 14 15 16 Kananchaburi Sangklaburi POW memorial (River Kwai) and on to end of railway and on to beautiful little town at Three Pagoda Pass, at lake, Mon refugees, small elephant trekking possible go back by bus and stop at the museum for the workers of the River Kwai railroad, there is also a small part of the railway preserved
