Sermon : God is Light! Scripture: 1 John 1 Text: 1 John 1:5

Sermon : Surprising Converts Scripture: Isaiah 60 Text: Isaiah 60:8

Deacons: Joel Markwat (Chairman-Deacons) Roger Osmun (Secretary) Ron Vander Boon (Asst. Treasurer) Bill Pols David Pronk Treasurer: Gerrit Kleyn

TO BE WITH CHRIST LEARN that death is no death to the Christian: He that liveth and believeth on me, shall never die. It is only giving the soul into the hand of Christ. He knows its value; for He died for it. Learn that to die is, to the believer, better than to live. If Christ rises up to receive the soul, then the soul goes to be with Jesus. But to be with Christ, is to be in glory; therefore it is far better. Oh! Be willing, Christian, to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord. There you shall be free from the pain of persecuting stones no more sneering and cruel friendsno more doubts about your soul ---no more sin within your heart. Oh, that I had wings of a dove, that I might flee away and be at rest! Learn the dreadfulness of having no interest in Jesus Christ. You must die; and how will you die, poor Christ less soul? To whom will you commend your dying spirit? [1] There will be no good angels waiting round your dying bed---no gentle hands of ministering spirits stretched out to receive your trembling soul. [2 You have no Christ rising up to receive you. You never washed in His blood---you would not come to him to have life; he often stretched out his hands, but you pushed them away; and now he will have no pity for you. [3] You will have no God---God will not be your God --- He will not be your friend; you have always been his enemy. Your proud heart would not be reconciled to him; and now you will find him an enemy indeed. Where will you go? Die you must. Your breath must cease. These eyes that look on me this day, must close in death---that heart which you feel beating in your breast, must cease to beat. And what will you do with your soul? ----to whom will you commend it? ---a naked, guilty shivering thing, with the wrath of God abiding on it? None of the angels will dare to shelter it. No rocks, or caves, or mountains, can hide it. Hell itself will not be a hiding place from the just wrath of God. Oh! Be wise now: Turn ye, turn ye, why will you die? Learn if you have any lost friends in Christ, to be comforted over them. It is true they are gone from you; but remember they have gone into far tenderer hands. You stood up over their dying body; but the Lord Jesus stood up to receive their undying souls. Your feeble, but affectionate hands were stretched out to smooth their dying pillow; but the almighty hands of the Saviour formed a sweeter, softer bed for their departing soul. Follow their faith--- look to the same Saviour; and when you come to die, you will use with your heart, or with your tongue, the same sweet Words (as Stephen) Lord Jesus receive my spirit. R. M. MCheyne Thank you so much for coming to worship God with us today. We hope and pray that you will be blessed among us and that you also will be a blessing to us. If you have any prayer needs or if you'd like to know more about our church, one of our pastors or elders would be very happy to speak with you.

Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. John 12: 35

Other News
We are looking for anyone that would be willing to do repairs for the seminary students such as fix vacuums, etc. Please call Arleen Boven at 915-4310 if you would like to help in this ministry. Young Adult Book Study New Book - Have you ever encountered a person standing at busy street corner holding a cardboard sign asking for help? Have you ever wondered how best to help them? As Christians, ministering to the poor is a part of our character. But compassionate instincts and generous spirits arent enough. Tragically, all too much of our compassion has become toxic, devastating to the very people its meant to help. In Toxic Charity, Robert Lupton urges individuals, churches, and organizations to step away from these spontaneous, often destructive acts of compassion toward more thoughtful paths to community development. If we truly love the poor, we will want to educate ourselves on how best to serve them. Toxic Charity helps show us how to start serving needy and impoverished members of our communities in a way that will be to their benefit. Everyone who volunteers or donates to charity needs to wrestle with this book. If you are a young adult (18-30ish) please join the Young Adult Book Study in studying Toxic Charity. We hope to begin our new study on October 5th at the Seminary at 7pm. Contact Mark Moerdyk with any questions.
