Objective 2014: Catalonia the next state of Europe
Rubn Novoa i Arranz, Former Press Officer at Catalan Solidarity for Independence group in the Parliament of Catalonia. This is the conclusion drawn by analyzing the results of the November 25 elections in Catalonia, which gave victory to President Mas. It is a logical conclusion after the show of force made y the people of Catalonia on 11 September when about 2 million people demonstrated in Barcelona to demand the separation of Catalonia from Spain and its constitution as a new state of Europe. The Parliament of Catalonia established by the end of December will have a majority of members in favor of a self-determination referendum on independence in the legislature. This majority is provided by President Mas party (CiU / center-right wing) and the second parliamentary force (ERC / center-left wing). This is the first time that the center-right nationalist party of president Mas has been submitted to the elections in order to hold a referendum on independence. And the result is clear: he won the election. By the way has left 12 MPs. Most exceptional calling the president Mas has not been granted by the people of Catalonia severely punished by cuts in health and education as a result of a policy of austerity has hit a country with 10% of public employers and excessively subsidized. Eleven of these members have gone to the second largest parliamentary group, ERC, with a leader, Oriol Junqueras reinforced to accompany President Mas in this process that now Catalonia begins for its independence and which is called to culminate in the next four years.
