This Manual has been described for the maintenance and inspection of KAWASAKI ROBOT F Series. We sincerely hope that you will please understand the contents of this Manual well and strictly observed the safety at all times. After that, start operation. You should fully understand the contents of this document and start the work paying special attention to the safety. The manual covers only INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION =ROBOT ARM=. Therefore, if you would desire to know the installation and connection of Controller and cable, you will also please read this together with "INSTALLATION AND CONNECTION =CONTROLLER=".

1. Caution Items
Prior to start the maintenance of the Robot, pay attention to the following matters to ensure safety.

WARNING

While the robot is in the hold mode, do not apply undue forces to the robot arm. If not, be careful that the brake mechanisms in the joint will be resulted in service life shortening and/or parts damage. Use KHI designated greases, gear oils and other lubricants.

In case the joint angle is required to change for the grease replenishment, etc., first, switch ON the motor power. Then set the robot to the desired posture. After that, reswitch OFF the motor power, and start the required work.

Prior to start maintenance, surely press the "EMERGENCY" switch on the controller in the basic operation section. The robot arm motor power will be switched OFF.

In the course of robot maintenance & inspection, daily checking, routine inspection (5000 hours , 10000 hours and 15000 hours) and overhaul are available. In this manual, items to be maintained and inspected, as well as inspection methods and adjustment methods are described. These items are very important for the successful using of robot for a long period of time in the stabilized condition, to which Users are requested to pay special attention.

CAUTION

If the maintenance is not made as specified, it will result in shortening of service life. Be careful that many parts are required to replace at overhaul (approx. every 20000 hours). Upon reaching the 20000-hour overhaul period, please contact with our service engineers.

When you require to maintain and inspect the Kawasaki Robot daily, maintain and inspect on the following items.

Remove the cover, and check if inside cable, hose, etc. are damaged.

Check driving system for error.

For example, if the backlash was increased and overclearance was found, please contact with us.

Make sure that any abnormality is existed in the driving system.

y Check if any fluctuations are observed in the stop position.

For example, if the backlash was increased and over-clearance was found, please contact with us.

If the abnormalities as referred to the above can not be correct by the mechanical countermeasures, please contact with us.

Do not defend, and do not put the amount of the injection too much when you replenish to the robot.

Remove the plug in the oil drain port without fail, if you replenish to the robot. Pressure hangs if you does not remove the plug and robot might damage the seal.

6.1. JT1 Reduction Unit

Oil filler port Procedures Prepare the cloth to wipe the grease and the container which receives the grease exhausted from the oil drain port beforehand. 1) Remove 2 plugs from the oil filler port and the oil drain port. 2) Install the grease nipple (M6) to the oil filler port. 3) Refill the grease from the oil filler port. When you fill the grease, old grease is exhausted from the oil drain port. 4) Remove the grease nipple from the oil filler port. Remove the plug in the oil drain port without fail, if you replenish to the robot. Pressure hangs if you does not remove the plug and robot might damage the seal.

CAUTION

Do not defend, and do not put the amount of the injection too much when you replenish to the robot.

Remove the parts of each part as shown in the figure above. 1) Remove 2 plugs from the oil filler port and the oil drain port. 2) Install the grease nipple (M6) to the oil filler port. 3) Refill the grease from the oil filler port. When you fill the grease, old grease is exhausted from the oil drain port. 4) Remove the grease nipple from the oil filler port. Wipe grease in the vicinity of oil filler part and oil drain port off the cloth etc. 5) Reinstall 2 plugs to the oil filler port and oil drain port.

3) If the tension is not adequated, rotate 1 turn and loosen the 4 motor bracket mounting bolt. 4) Move the motor braket, and adjust the distance of pulley. And then, tighten the mounting belts temporary. 5) Upon setting the adequate tension forces as specified above, install the motor brackets and tighten the mounting bolts.
