Use somebody / someone, something, somewhere with an affirmative verb when you dont know exactly who, what or where. Use anybody / anyone, anything, anywhere with an negative verb and also in questions. Use nobody / no one, nothing, nowhere in short answers or in sentences with an affirmative verb.

PEOPLE

+ I didnt speak to anybody / anyone. - Did anybody / anyone phone? ? No, nobody / no one. x Nobody / no one phoned.

Somebody / Someone has taken my pen!

THINGS

+ I didnt do anything at the weekend. - Is there anything in the fridge. ? No, nothing. x Theres nothing in the fridge.

I bought something for dinner.

PLACES

+ We didnt go anywhere this summer. - Is there anywhere to park? ? No, nowhere. x Theres nowhere to park.

Lets go somewhere this weekend.
