HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 88-90; 1 Corinthians 6 Monday, August 12 Col. 1:5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; True Lord and Glorious God: Scientists say hedonistic pursuit of pleasure is like empty calories and produces stress, but pursuit of meaning brings greater satisfaction. My hope in you for the future is the mainstay of my joy. When I think about heaven it brings passion to life on earth. How could I do anything halfhearted once I realize where I am going and what you have planned? Biblical rest does not mean sleeping, but not straining and laboring in my working. Now thats heaven! Give me an open door of opportunity to share the gospel with _________ and __________ at some time this week (at least some time this year). They are hurting and spent. Heaven should be a place of rest for them. In the mean time I am in the field of battle. I am tempted by the flesh within and assaulted by foes without. I have little or no peace down here. But up there I will realize and experience full victory, so I have to fight to prove it down here. I have bereavement after setback down here, but up there I am immortal, and will only know what it is to go from strength to strength in service for you. Why doesnt my friend __________ want that more? Sin is my constant grief right now. The Holy Spirit helps perfect my holiness, but up there I will be perfected in holiness. There will be no pests or pestilence; no poison ivy in the ditches. It will not be a wilderness, but the Promised Land. Do not let me forget about the present while I contemplate the future. Let my study of the future sanctify my present and bring it to its highest helpfulness. Hope of heaven is the most potent force to produce present virtue. Amen. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS MIRACLES Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 91-93; 1 Corinthians 7 Tuesday, August 13 Matt. 12:13-14 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other. Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. Holy Lord: Your commands always get straight to the point. It is not, Rub your right hand with your left. Or, Go perform a ceremony over your hand. No, if the hand is withered then the command is to stretch it out. How often I find you commanding me to do the very thing I feel like I cannot do. You always go to the root of my unbelief, because as soon as I obey, I am healed! You do not say to my lost friends, Go home and pray. When they say, Acts 16:30 Sirs, what must I do to be saved? The only effective answer goes right to the heart of the matter: Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. They may not even know what they are asking, but help me always give them the clearest answer. My lost friends do not need to go home and read the Bible per sethey need to stretch out their faith! The gospel is never preached unless I get around to the topic, for salvation comes by nothing short of faith. Thats the hardest point Lord, as you know. Yes, and thats why you want to use me to deliver this command to believe. So in my own life, help me mix faith with every prayer, and faith with every act of repentance. That is the only thing that makes my work acceptable to you. You demand faith in yourself and faith in your Son in order for people to be saved and me to be sanctified. The Pharisees who look on the results of such faith will always be jealous. Give me grace to bear-up under their glare, knowing I am doing the work of Christ today on his behalf. Let me glorify Jesus! Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 100-102; 1 Corinthians 10 Friday, August 16 Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. God Our Father: Jesus sought the mountain to avoid a public display and distraction. If completion of your mission is based on similar praying, then we will not pray to be seen. We will pray simply to be heard and to receive blessings from God. Let us get alone with you, even as a group in our prayer meetings, in order to move your arm. We dont need a parade when we pray. We need to pour out our souls in serious supplication without drawing the attention of the world. Since we seek to be used in the accomplishment of your mission, then Lord we seek the mountain. We seek that place of intercession for our pastors, for our ministers in lands abroad, for our children, for our city, for our services. Son of God, help us enter the glorious temple in heaven when we pray. We admit, we know not what we should pray for as we ought, Rom. 8:26. But we trust the Holy Ghost to groan out for us, and trust that you in your High Priestly office will present our petitions before the throne in a manner that ensures their answer. No ritualistic ceremony can possibly equal the opportunity of simple supplication. When we come before you as a church we come before you on our knees (at least in our heart). And then we stand in wonder and adoration to worship you alone and praise you for all you do. We ask for the speedy entrance of your word into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (for the entrance of thy words giveth light, Psa. 119:130). We pray for our pastors and preachers. We want your anointing on them. Touch their lips and touch our ears as you touch all hearts who assemble with us on Sunday. Our sighs and tears bring you our true desires. Move in our midst, O great Jehovah. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 94-96; 1 Corinthians 8 Wednesday, August 14 Ezek. 35:10 Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there: Lord, are you here? Edoms princes saw how Israel was left desolate, and counted on making an easy conquest. Unbeknownst to them one thing stood in their way: the LORD was there. In your presence there is security. In your presence is our revival. Whatever may be the machinations and devices of the Devil todayat my work, in my family, and even over my ministrythere is still only one barrier to thwart his plans: the LORD was there! The saints are your heritage, and you will support my witness. What a comfort that assurance brings to me as I consider the trouble and spiritual conflict that flare-up whenever I try to explain the gospel. I am constantly opposed, but perpetually preserved! Satan shoots his arrows against my faith because he knows it is the most potent weapon in my witnessing. Help me today to defy Hell and the power of his fiery darts. They are not only turned aside, but also quenched by my shield. My ministry is the subject of Satans attack. Those things I do to earn the right to speak about my Lord Jesus are constantly assailed, and my motives questioned. I never yet tried to serve you but what I did not come under fire. Help me by your Spirit to have a hope bright and sparkling, a love warm and fervent, a patience all-enduring, and a zeal flaming like coals of fire. By this means let me win someone to Christ because they have to say, the Lord is there! When I start to witness I need to see, the Lord is here. When I endure trial I need to know, the Lord is here. Where the storm is its worst, the water highest, and the wind coldest, I stand upon the Rock for salvation. JEHOVAH SHAMMAH. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 103-105; 1 Corinthians 11 Saturday, August 17 Psa. 113:2 Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Blessed God Our Father: This is a poem of pure praise. Give me a heart of admiring adoration to be able to understand it. The subject is the goodness of God in lifting up the needy. While praising you aloud, I am also to bless you in the silence of my heart, wishing glory to your name, success to your cause, and triumph to your truth. I do not quarrel with your justice or criticize your severity. I do not fear your power, but I adore you as I find you revealed in your inspired word and by your own acts to me. I love you and praise you for who you are. Psa. 113:5 Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, No one can be compared with you for an instant. You, my God, are without parallel. None of the metaphors or figures used in the Bible can give me a complete understanding of you (that is why you are given so many names). Nothing on earth or in the heavens fully resembles you. Only in Jesus Christ is the face of God and the hand of God seen in physical form. John 14:9 He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; You are high above all gods and yet you are my Father. You are my Shepherd who supplies my needs. You are my Guardian who counts the hairs of my head. You are my Friend who sympathizes in all my grief. Almighty arms, lift me until I am Rev. 5:10 madeunto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth. This is an envelope Psalm, because it ends where it starts. May my lifepsalm be the samean endless circleblessing a Lord whose mercies never cease. Grace has rescued me, so Lord let me praise you for ever, and draw others into this praise! Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: Psalm 97-99; 1 Corinthians 9 Thursday, August 15 Acts 2:16-17 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh:.

THE blood that Jesus once shed for me, as my Redeemer, upon the tree;
The blood that setteth the prisner free, will never lose its powr. It gives us access to God on high, from far off places it brings us nigh; To precious blessings that never die, it will never lose its powr. It is a shelter for rich and poor, it is to Heaven the open door; The sinners merit forevermore, it will never lose its powr. And when with all the blood washed throng we sing in glory redemptions song; Well pass the glorious truth along, it has never lost its powr. It will never lose its powr, it will never lose its powr; The blood that cleanses from all sin will never lose its powr. Civilla D. Martin, 1912

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

MINISTRY & SERVICE

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92 LIVING FAITH BIBLE INSTITUTE Sunday nights starting Aug 18 NEW Sunday evening service time is 5:30-7:00P.M.
