Let us beseech the Lord to reawaken in us the joy at his presence and that we may once more adore him. Without adoration, there is no transformation of the world. (Pope Benedict XVI)
The trouble with our world today boils down to one thing: lack of belief in, and faith in the Eucharist. To a certain degree this affects us all. If we really believed that the Eucharist is Jesus wouldnt each of us sign up for an hour of adoration in an instant? To put it another way, if we knew Jesus was literally walking around in a house in Kalamazoo waiting to show us the solutions to our problems in life, wouldnt we make an appointment to see Him no matter how busy we are? All solutions and healings come from the Eucharist because the Eucharist is Jesus. It is important to make a sacrifice of our time and sign up for a specific hour of adoration simply because Jesus has gone out of His way, to descend from Heaven, to come to Lombard to speak to us and heal us but this takes many appointments. Jesus appreciates any visit and bestows many graces on us. But how much more will He heal us when we imitate Him and go out of our way in visiting Him by signing up for a particular Holy Hour. Our Saints knew all of this all to well. It isnt because they were Saints that they adored the Eucharist, rather it was because they adored the Eucharist that they became Saints. Join us for Eucharistic Adoration. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration on Thursdays from 9:00am until 8:00pm. For more information, contact Bill Runge at (630) 396-6075.

Mary, Woman of Strength

On Saturday morning, August 10, join us at Sacred Heart Monastery as Dr. Christine Fletcher of Benedictine University discusses, Mary, Woman of Strength. Dr. Fletcher says, Mary was an obstacle, not a help for me as a convert. Over the years, however, I have come to appreciate her place in our faith, her love for us, and the model she can be when the sugary piety is removed and the real woman emerges. We will begin with Lectio Divina at 9:00am, and end with Mass in our chapel at 11:30am. There is no charge for the program, but reservations are preferred. 630.725.6010 or jdoyle@shmlisle.org.

SAVE THE DATE

Illinois Citizens for Life has invited His Excellency Bishop Thomas Paprocki, Bishop of Springfield, as their guest speaker at the 41st Annual Benefit Dinner to be held on Friday, October 25th, at The Carlisle in Lombard. Please mark your calendar and plan to join this celebration of life.

The certainty of this Bread Of Life is clear. That is why we love the Eucharist and adore it. (Pope Francis)

Year of Faith: Catechism Corner

First, the Church is catholic because Christ is present in her. Where there is Christ Jesus, there is the Catholic Church. In her subsists the fullness of Christs body united with its head; this implies that she receives from him the fullness of the means of salvation which he has willed: correct and complete confession of faith, full sacramental life, and ordained ministry in apostolic succession. The Church was, in this fundamental sense, catholic on the day of Pentecost (CCC, n. 830)

For more information about our music ministry, please contact our Director of Music & Liturgy, Bill Runge, at (630) 396-6075 or Email at bill@ctklombard.org.
The Kings Choir: This choir is open to all parishioners high-school aged and older. No previous musical experience is necessary. The only prerequisite is that you enjoy singing. The Kings Choir rehearses on Wednesdays, beginning September 4, from 7:00pm-9:00pm in the church. Advanced registration is required to ensure enough music is purchased. Childrens Choir: Our Childrens Choir has grown tremendously over the past few years. This year we will have separate rehearsals for singers and instrumentalists, but they will be together on Sunday. The Childrens Choir rehearses weekly, and attendance is mandatory. The choir sings at mass once per month. This year our childrens choir will be part of the Pueri Cantores, a national student choral organization of the Catholic Church in the United States. Nearly 70 dioceses will be served by regional student choral festivals throughout the nation, and Christ the King will be part of the Chicago Festival. Childrens Orchestra: Last year we were combined with the Childrens Choir and although we will still be at mass together, we will rehearse separately. The Childrens Orchestra rehearses weekly, and attendance is mandatory. The orchestra plays at mass once per month. Minimum skill level includes playing basic melody of hymns at mass. Cantors: Cantors are the brave souls who lead us in song each week. Although formal musical education is not required, an understanding of music and natural talent is. Christ the King invites parishioners of all ages to become a cantor. You will begin as an intern, working with a current cantor to help raise your confidence (and calm your nerves!) Instrumentalists: We welcome all instrumentalists to play at the liturgy. If you play an instrument, and wish to share your talents, please contact us for more information.

Sunday, August 11 7:00 pm: Cause of Our Joy After Mary gave birth to the Savior, the angel of God proclaimed good news of great joy for all the people. I would like to thank the parishioner who gave 1000.00 towards the debt reduction this week and to all who have given this past week. Over the years many have given from $10 and up, every dollar helps. What a sacrifice our parishioners make! The number of parishioners using the envelope is decreasing. Each month the diocese requires us to give $10,000 to bring down the debt. Please prayerfully consider using the envelope. I would like to bring the debt down a little more before the new pastor comes in June. The diocesan finance office is very grateful for those who have been giving. If you are new or forgot what our project was all about, let me know. I will review that with you, which may give a you a better idea on giving. Please consider automatic debit for your monthly giving of the white envelope. Writing about all of this reminds me of the late Deacon Fred Francl who was the team leader of the parish finance council for many years. I miss him. May Fred watch over us with St. Luke the Patron Saint of Finance councils. Deacon Fred and St. Luke, pray for us! Lets remember all our deceased benefactors.

Rev. Peter P. Jarosz, Pastor

Thank You!
I want to thank everyone for all the phone calls, emails, letters, and cards, but most of all for everyone's prayers. I can't explain how I lived through this, but I know that God has me in this world for a reason even if I don't know what it is and I know that he put all of you in my life because I need you. I know I would not have made it through the hardships these past three years without all of you. At one point or another each one of you did something special to help me make it through the day. I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate everything you did for me, how much I love each of you, and how much I love God for putting all of you in my life. There's no way I can properly thank you for everything, but just know that all of you are in my heart. Thank you and God bless each one of you. Lynn Zelenka
