CONJUGACIN VERBAL Cuando queremos nombrar una accin en espaol, utilizamos la forma verbal del infinitivo.

Ejemplo: Me gusta escribir (Escribir es la forma del infinitivo). In English we use the infinitive and sometimes the Present Participle o Gerund to express the same idea. Example: I like to read (American English)/ I like reading (British English). Here to read is the infinitive and reading is the present participle or gerund. Ahora vamos a hablar de presente, pasado y futuro. Son tiempos verbales. En espaol los conocis muy bien. Ejemplos: Canto y bailo, cant y bail, cantar y bailar. A veces acompaamos las formas verbales con adverbios o expresiones de tiempo. Ejemplos: Canto y bailo dos veces por semana. Cant y bail ayer. Cantar y bailar la semana prxima. In English it is very easy to learn how to use the present, the past and the future. They are called tenses or verbal tenses. Look at the examples: Present Simple I sing and dance He sings and dances I dont sing or dance He doesnt sing or dance Do I sing and dance? Does he sing and dance? Past Simple I sang and danced He sang and danced I didnt sing or dance He didnt sing or dance Did I sing and dance? Did he sing and dance? Future Simple I will sing and dance He will sing and dance I will not sing or dance He will not sing or dance Will I sing and dance? Will he sing and dance?

What can we observe in this table?: - In the present, in affirmative, we add an -s to the verb when we use the third person singular (he, she, it). Sometimes we add -es - In the present, in negative and interrogative, we use an auxiliary verb to make sentences. This verb is the verb to do, and when we use the 3rd person singular we use its form does. - In the past, in affirmative, we use a different word (sang instead of sing) with irregular verbs, or we add ed or -d to

the form of the present (danced instead of dance) for regular verbs. All the verbal persons use the same form. In the past, in negative and interrogative, we always use the verbal form did of the auxiliary to do, with all the verbal persons. That is why we have to use subjects in English. In the future, we use the auxiliary verb will in affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences and the basic form of the verbs. And we use will for all the verbal persons.

Its very important to observe too, that: - When we make interrogative sentences we begin with the auxiliary verb (do/does for the present, did for the past and will for the future) - When we make negative sentences we say not after de auxiliary verb - We only use a different form for the past in affirmative sentences. In negative and interrogative sentences we mark the past with the auxiliary did (The verb has its basic form, this is the infinitive without to). Write here some other observations you can consider important Now look at this example of a verb conjugation.
